This has to be a record, agreeing twice with IHE in the same month!! Just another stupid example of stewards picking on kids for no reason whatsoever. So what if they had a few beers??? They weren't harming anyone, they weren't shouting at our own fans or intimidating anyone, and more importantly our own fans thought it was ridiculous they were getting chucked out because as usual it was for nothing!! They certainly didnt "spoil it for the rest of the support" that kind of attitude is pathetic! Also me and my mates had been drinking before the game but sat there and watched without singing or standing up. Should we not be chucked out as well LG??? I also have to say though, as much stick as the Saints fans were giving Rosscoe, the Chris Kerr song, very similar to the Iain Durrant one was out of order!!

For arguments sake if we say that the players i mentioned were all on ?50,000 a year, I would say they're all on more, but for arguments sake say they're on ?50,000. That would be 5 players out plus Rankins fee of ?110,000 and probably around ?100,000 for Robson leaving United (if he does go) That is a good ?450,000 - ?500,000 extra in the kitty. We will be able to offer the players whose contracts are expiring a little more a year plus get in 1 or 2 more on good money.Iwould think we will be looking at players other SPL clubs will be looking at, rather than always having to take a chance on someone. We will get someone with quality. Half of division 1 pay more than us??? Similar to us but not more I would think. I don't even think we pay the lowest wages in the SPL!!
-
Its about time we cleared out the squad anyway. We had too many players under Charlie Christie, I just don't see the point in a club like ours having a massive squad. If we can trim it down it frees up more money for better quality players and wages. We could easily lose at least 1 striker. If Richie Hart is not going to get a game, send him on his way. Dean McDonald is going and Barry could possibly be retiring. Thats a fair bit of cash, especially if you consider we've got ?110,000 from Rankin, lost his wage and hopefully getting in money for Barry Robson. I have a hunch Brewster may have a couple of quality signings up his sleeve which will be on decent wages plus we will probably have to pay transfer fees for. Unlike 10CC i think he'll be out and about now looking at players, rather than clutching at straws in the summer. So in a way Marius' wage may be a good thing for the club as it shows we can pay the wages for quality players and perhaps will give us that little extra we need to reach the top 6. You can say what you want about Marius but he gives 100% and thats all you can ask of the guy. People have their opinions on the guy but he's done well in the past 2 months or so, probably becasue he's getting his fitness and probably more importantly his confidence back after such a long time out. Going back to Duncan, I actually think he's having a laugh. I'm sure he knows no-one in the SPL would take him outside Gretna and St.Mirren and they won't be paying what he seems to be looking for. But if he doesn't like what we offer him, he's another player who we can send on his way. In my opinion again he gives 100% but would be no big loss if he were to go.
-
Probably more along the lines of "I'd better take ?800k for him than let him leave for nothing at the end of his contract" Robson is 29 now, 18 months of his deal left I think. Nobody is going to pay big money for a 31 or near 31 year old. As the guy has pumped ?5m of his own money he'd probably want some return. If we were getting 20% for arguments sake, I would assume he'd go for something around ?1.25 - ?1.3 million. We get ?200k they get ?1,050,000 and make a ?1m profit! I don't think he'll go in January though, probably the end of the season.
-
I think this guy taking over would be disasterous. But as we have shares, if this guy wants to write to shareholders and offer them X amount for the shares is there anything we can really do? If I was a share holder and somebody offered me for arguments sake 5 x what they were worth, I'd have to consider it.

The frustration has now gone. Thought we did ok, defended really well. 4-5-1 suits us and we just need someone to fill the Rankin role. We need Cowie out wide. Thought everyone did pretty well, Keeper and defence we all good, Blackie ran the midfield for 25 mins in 2nd half. Also thought Niculae and Cowie did ok throughout. Strange decision to play Roy on right, never really worked and Markus looked unfit. Everyone grafted hard though. Not too dissappointed though, Motherwell have understandably had a couple of poor results and I think we can get 3 points on Saturday. IHE your obsessed!!!
-
Yeah agree with davieB. Starting to feel quite embarrased for a certain poster who is "hysterical" in going on about Marius good or bad!!
-
I think Dorrans would be a really good signing. I remember seeing him for Scotland last summer on the TV at the World Cup in Canada. Even though we were pretty poor in most games I remember thinking at the time at least he was having a go, trying to take players on and generally looked good. That said he is a right winger and could spell the end to Zanders time at the club. As much as I think Dorrans would be a really good signing I think we owe it to Zander to give him a proper chance.

I don't know what the new offer for Rankin is but to get things into perspective Rangers paid ?2m for Kevin Thomson. Rankin is a little older and perhaps not quite as good, but not an awful lot behind Thomson. St Mirren were supposed to be offering ?40,000........... thats an absolute disgrace If we don't get at least ?100,000 for a proven SPL midfielder who scores goals, I will be mightly p1ssed off!!
-
Johnboy I don't quite understand the link between my comment about Fraser and Rankin is??? Fraser has turned it around and has performed very well over the last 2 months and totally deserves to be in goals now. But lets be honest he was pretty bad up till till the end of the cup game in Aberdeen and if we had put him out on loan then and brought somone in (if we could) I don't think anyone would have been complaining. What i'm saying about Rankin is fact and if you want to know the reason PM me and i'll tell you!
-
He is certainly going and its due to personal reasons. I believe we've tried to keep him over the last month or so to change his mind, but he and his partner want to be around their family. I don't want to say what the reasons are as its not my place but its not a football reason he wants to leave and its purely a personal matter. Perhaps once he does join his new club he will come out and tell everyone the reason.

how ridiculously sad..............I for one will be giving Phil a massive :clapping03: on Wednesday

Markus and family including Mixu were sitting in front of us at Tynecastle. My mate was speaking to Markus who said he is back from injury but not getting a game. He also said he isn't looking for a new club.

Amazingly I find myself agreeing in part with IHE!! I don't know if we should be starting Bayne away from home instead of Marius but thats a another matter. I think Bayne was really good last season and proved that he was a decent SPL striker. I mean people go on about Lee Miller and they are similar players. I would have thought Graham scored similar or more goals than him last season. In Marius we obviously have a more classy player with a much better touch and vision. But that doesn't mean Graham is sh1t, he's still a good SPL player and has proved that with important goals for us in the past.
-
Fraser was great today and has been since half time in the league cup game against Aberdeen. I think he was told in no uncertain terms during the break in that game try any nonsense again and your out the door. Now that he's quit trying to take defenders on etc he has become very good, today was another example of that and the save was fantastic. Well done Mikey!! :clapping03:

He will NOT be going to County. he WILL be going to a team in central belt either loan with view to permanent move or a permanent move straight away. Even if he didn't want to move to the central belt there would be absolutley no way he'd ever be going to County

hahahahahahaha that is one of the funniest things i've ever read on here. Go on Donald please do!!!

MARIUS CAN CARRIUS INTO 2008
Sir C the 3rd replied to IMMORTAL HOWDEN ENDER's topic in Caley Thistle
That whole 11 pages of the previous Marius post I say the guy is far from perfect. I just don't see why its Marius Marius Marius the whole time. Theres not 3 threads on any of the other players. Why just him??? I certainly (as I keep saying) am not saying he's any messiah or even a great player and he certainly has NO chance of getting back in the Romania squad. But what I am saying is that he's not some sort of terrible player who all our problems stem from and to keep insisting that he is I think is frankly silly. Get our defence sorted out, then i'll start discussing the merits of Marius' contribution. Because watching nearly every game this season, the defending has been abysmal and has contributed far more to our poor form than Marius. What has got on my goat to quote you is the way you repeatedly go on and on about him, not the fact that you criticise him, just the fact its the same stuff over and over. Yeah i'll criticise a player now and again, like everyone on here. But there isn't the same kind of "campaign" against anyone else and to single out 1 player constantly I feel is wrong. For the record I don't agree with what he is getting paid. But again I don't pay his wages and I just want to see a good team on the park. I mean I don't think oh well Alan Morgan had a bad game today, but its ok because he's getting paid the least. But i'm raging at Marius because he only did Ok when he's getting paid much more!! I think he should be played as an attacking midfielder maybe at the front of a 5 man midfield just behind the front 1 or 2. His range of passing would be good for players bombing forward on the wings and he'd always be on the edge of the box for a shot if it came out that way. IHE, we are never going to agree on Marius I don't think, but this is the last time I'm going to post about him because I think we're both saying the same thing time after time to each other and I think we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one! P.S. If there was a handshake smiley i'd use it here! -

Everyone keeps going on about the Marius problem. The problem isn't him, we're that poor defensively just now we're over compensating in with defensive players in midfield. Duncan and McBain!! Play one or the other, you need a creative influence in midfield and I personally would have Marius just in behind Wyness or if your brave in behind a front 2. The best form of attack is defence and we just aint attacking enough, probably because we only have 2 players that can create anything and they were both playing up front yesterday. Even Russell from the centre of the park was hoofing the ball forward. I know Barry was on yesterday and I am Barry's biggest fan, but his time as a starter is over now and is only going to be of use late on in a game. We need at least 5 new players in January in my opinion (not that we can afford that, but still) and Phil McGuire is fine as a stopgap but we should NOT be looking to sign him permantley in January. As for Marius, going back to the thread, we have many more important problems rather than just constantly going on about him. Ok he's getting a lot of money but thats NOT for us to decide what he's getting paid. Some people seem to think he's supposed to be a one man team!! -
Well whatever you think, its up to you. But what I said is a fact and nothing to do with the club/football and if he played for Aberdeen or in England he'd be doing the same.
-
As much as some people may want to speculate otherwise. It is a family reason that he'll be moving on for. Its not really my place to say what the family reason is, but its 90% certain he'll leave, so i'm led to believe. More than likely to be in January otherwise it will be a loan till the end of the season then a permanent transfer I would have thought.
-
He is pretty certain to leave I believe, if not in January certainly at the end of the season. More a family issue than a football one and a move to the central belt is definatley on the cards. So any fans of St Mirren, Falkirk, Motherwell etc expect a good midfielder arriving to a club near you shortly!!!

Agree in part, don't think either side was very good in the 1st half and not many chances for either side. The slide tackle Bayne got a warning for just before his 1st booking was a great tackle and he got the ball then booked 2 minutes later. I was wondering on the way home yesterday what was the referee's agenda yesterday. I don't care what anyone says he was bordering on cheating at some points I thought. Look at the stats in the paper today 19 fouls for us 4 for Motherwell!! What the last straw for me was, at 2-0 and 2 men down. We had a cross from the stand side of the pitch and the ball bounced through about 10 players hit a Motherwell player CLEARLY on the hand and the referee blew and awarded a free kick for Grant Munro standing his ground in the box. Yeah I agree we were **** for most of the game but the refereeing was farcical and most of the Motherwell chances came when we were down to 9 and I even think the Motherwell fans were bored at how stupid the game was at that point. In saying that, thats what we get for rigidly sticking to the same formation, hoofing the ball and not changing the style or players for love nor money. We're starting to get what we deserve for the rubbish long ball garbage of the last 2 seasons!!
-
Marius Marius Marius, a debate after every game. Its true that some people are in a state of "hysteria" about him as they won't shut up about him. Its soooooo boring now, same rubbish argument game after game. Bayne was played yesterday and surprise surprise long ball garbage from start to finish. So can we just accept as much as some people don't want too, Marius does bring somthing to the team. We've played Bayne in the last 3 games and had an aggregate 9-1 defeat over the 3 matches .Wyness has been rubbish in these games too. Dennis needs the ball into feet and playing Bayne and Brewster for that matter just resorts in the 2 centre backs hoofing the ball forward. Brewster is just better at holding the ball up better than Graham. Playing the ball on the deck suits our players and the height of our team so please get Marius OR Dean Mcdonald in the team and stop the long ball nonsense. I'm not saying that Marius is some kind of saviour or a Romanian Maradona as some people suggest he should be, but he is the best we have so get him playing!!
