  1. A real shock. Iain was a very decent man and conversation with him seldom took long to turn to ICT. Condolences to those closest to him.
  2. Would be happy with something along those lines.
  3. Last season under Butcher, from mid December to end of season we won 6. In the same period this season, Yogi has won 5 already. Similar form to last season. Aye keep hearing this going backwards stuff but the stats really dont show this as youve said. From clear in second with games in hand to struggling to fend off St Johnstone for fifth. I'm confused. In what respect is that not going backwards ?
  4. To be fair to Adams (for once) he was not at fault. As far as deliberately assaulting one of the opposition's coaching team is concerned, that's outrageous and should surely see Hammil cited and issued with at least a three match ban.
  5. We have gone backwards. They have gone further backwards and more rapidly.
  6. Not sure that we are all biting our nails to the quick at the tension of battling with St Johnstone for fifth place.
  7. Head steward.
  8. Sorry. Arithmetic was never my strong suit.
  9. Why does Alex get excluded at this stage when his prediction is still possible ?
  10. Makes it really interesting in the bottom half, But just think, had it not been for the introduction of the play offs this season it would all be pretty meaningless. To be fair, Ross County's Roy MacGregor deserves great credit for that in being one of only two chairmen brave enough to hold out against the bizarre 8-8-8 format that we were told by Doncaster, Milne and company was the only show in town.
  11. Butcher had a difficult start with us but we were bottom when he arrived and finished in that place, just, at the end of the season. His start at Hibs has been far far worse. While not exactly setting the heather on fire, Hibs were 5th when Fenlon left and in no danger. After a short lived honeymoon they have gone into freefall and may well be destined for the play offs. Something has gone far wrong for TB and MM at Easter Road.
  12. Okay. Enough is enough. Any more and the thread will be closed.
  13. With the possible exception of Leigh Griffiths, is there a more classless character in the whole of Scottish football than Derek Adams ?
  14. I wouldn't have taken a draw as only a win would have maintained our increasingly slender hopes of Europe. However, that said, despite it being a pretty unentertaining game, we were solid enough and were a match for the Dons. I thought that Warren was very solid and that Billy played well with more energy than recently apart from the County match and was unlucky to be denied twice by fine saves from Langfield who I though was Aberdeen's man of the match. The main negative, aside from not picking up three points, was Vincent who has been consistently poor since coming back from injury. He is clearly one of the manager's favourites but, in my view is in need of being rested both for his own sake and the sake of the team. Encouraging signs last night but we need to have a back up forward as a matter of priority.

This thread will come to a natural end if or when the team on the park begin to entertain and enjoy success again. Should that happen then I doubt anyone will be interested in continuing to post on the thread. In the meantime, I think it is bordering on outrageous that those who don't seem to have reservations about the manager want to censor debate by calling for the thread to be closed. It seems to me that those who have doubts about the manager, while arguing their position, are generally respectful of the views of those who don't. On the other hand, many of those who believe Hughes is doing a good job seem to be intolerant of the opposing view even being voiced and describe reasoned and considered counter argument as vitriol simply on the basis that it does not accord with their own view. There are a range of views among fans but there are no sides or factionalism other than in the minds of those who will brook no opinion other than their own. If anyone is offended by the mere existence of this thread the simple remedy for them is to ignore it at let the rest of us get on with debating what we each sincerely believe to be in the best interests of our club.
  16. 6 Points v Aberdeen lose 0 points v Celtic lose 0 points v Dundee utd lose 0 points v Motherwell win 3 points v St Johnstone win 3 points
  17. If we play well there is no reason why we can't beat Aberdeen but I'd be surprised if we did so decisively. All our previous clashes this season have been close and I suspect this one will be the same.

3 years, regardless of results???? What's wrong with League One ?

They probably did and assumed that there would be no teams at the final from that far north.
  20. If we can recapture our form of the first third of the season then anything is possible. On the other hand, if we continue in the form we've shown more recently then we will struggle to hold onto fifth. The next five games ought to tell us much about the new manager. While I think the chances of Europe have gone, winning more games post split than we lose will amount to pass marks.
  21. With either Dundee United or St Johnstone going to take one of the European places via the cup our, already slim, chances of qualification have just about disappeared.
  22. I agree that the forum would indeed be a more tedious place if we all held the same or similar views. The only thing that the vast majority of us have completely in common is an interest in and fondness for ICT although I accept that there are a very few who may not fall into that category but I don't believe that many of those have contributed to this thread. I also agree that it is better and far more interesting for people to express their views forthrightly but without resorting to name calling or vitriol. What I fail to see, in this context is where, in this thread at least, Caley D has been subject to vitriol. That, in itself, would be a breach of forum rules. I may have missed something but can you please illustrate where, in this thread, you think legitimate robust disagreement has crossed the line ?
  23. Sometimes, when in a hole, it's best to stop digging.
  24. To be fair, Raith Rovers are full time.
  25. Plastic pitches a bit like mergers then ?
