  1. Astonishing.......we have a trophy room ?...
  2. That shouldn't be an issue. Manchester City, for example don't own their advertising beacon of a stadium and we didn't own it when we granted naming rights to Tullochs either.
  3. Life trying to maintain full time top flight football on a modest fan base will always be a challenge. It occurs to me that one potential source of revenue we may be neglecting is stadium naming rights. I know that the Tulloch group ploughed money in and worked wonders in throwing up the North and South Stands in record time so we could take our place in the SPL and earned the right by doing so to enjoy the publicity associated with the stadium name but that was a decade ago and they have surely got their money's worth by now. Maybe we should be trying to sell the rights for the next ten years to the highest suitable bidder. May not be worth as much as shirt advertsing but it's bound to be worth a reasonable annual five figure sum.
  4. and which other poster signs their posts ?...
  5. We got our transfer business done early last close season and that seemed to work well with the squad gelling which, in my view, helped get us off to a flying start. Would be good if we could manage to do something similar this year.
  6. A bit harsh to say that Andrew Shinnie has failed to make it down south. He was in Birmingham's match squad throughout the season and quite often played either from the start or off the bench.
  7. Been following World Cups since 1970 in Mexico sometimes including Scotland and latterly not and I have never been less enthusiastic about the premier international tournament than this one. At this stage, honestly don't care.
  8. As the thread is headed expectations rather than wishes, I expect us to finish between 8th and 10th and would be surprised to progress beyond the quarter finals of either of the cups. I also expect quite a lot of aimless square passing and attempted ball retention.
  9. Kingsmills replied to Big G's topic in Caley Thistle
Six figures is a great deal more than the Orion deal netted us on an annual basis. Good work.
  10. An experienced forward is a must, two if Billy is sold.
  11. Hibs fans were unhappy because Fenlon, who had got them to cup finals, only had them mid table playing the wrong style of football.
  12. Good to see both Clach and Inverness City bring silverware to the town.
  13. Now that bit further...
  14. On the other hand, it could simply be a welcome gesture by a club with a history of considering the fans using some of the windfall from the League Cup run to fund that gesture and reflecting the fact that, whatever our opinion of what's happening on the field, we are run in a financially prudent way and can thus afford to peg prices.
  15. Jeez, Brora will be tough...
  16. Butcher has an opportunity to make history. There can't be too many countries in the world without a single team from the capital city in the top football league. Come to that, there are probably not too many managers in Scotland who have led more than one top flight team to relegation.
  17. If the lad can improve his attitude he has the ability.
  18. Mahonio, I honestly don't think anyone is getting at you personally but your extreme reaction on this thread to what was another disappointing result but a more encouraging performance is wholly disproportionate and I'm not surprised that it has provoked reaction. We don't want to lose any posters and your contributions are as worthy as anyone's but why don't you take a break for a day or two until you calm down a bit, for your own goo as much as anything and then come back. Rest assured if we feel that you are being treated in breach of site rules the Mods will deal with it.
  19. Wouldn't it be ironic if Butcher had to battle Falkirk again to avoid relegation. He has a 100% failure record in doing so.
  20. With Queen of the South in the play offs, there has been no debate about whether they will go up if they prevail. Don't remember reading it at the time but, given that Palmerston has nowhere near 6,000 seats, does that mean that that minimum requirement went with league unification this season ?
  21. Which is probably why he'll find himself somewhere in English League One.
  22. A decent prospect but we couldn't come close to matching what he was being paid in the third tier.
  23. That would be expecting the SPFL to be logical, fair and reasonable. So, probably not.
