  1. How about holding back on the adulation until he's justified it.
  2. Listened now to three interviews and he repeats the same cliches and platitudes but I think that's just the way he talks.Positively seems committed and enthusiastic. The new chapter begins.
  3. I want Paul Sturrock!!! That's surely your own business but who would you like to be our new assistant manager ?
  4. Maybe Yogi and Ossie could share the pre and post match interviews..
  5. Consistency is the theme. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Important to get this new era off to a winning start.
  6. While the users of CTO are indeed a minority of fans, I suspect we are a reasonably representative cross section. A large number have also watched football for a long time and some are fairly shrewd observers. The doubts and reservations surrounding this appointment are not based on hysterical and unfounded hyperobe but on discussion and analysis of JH's managerial history. That said, I am more than happy to put my doubts aside cease to voice reservations now that the appointment has been confirmed and to give the man my full backing. If others are not prepared to do that then that is surely their right as this is a largely uncensored open forum where we are all free to disagree with one another and indeed to disagree, even strongly, with the board and their decisions.
  7. I wonder if the delay in announcing his assistant is due to the temporary unavailability of his preferred choice ?
  8. Wow. If there was an award for the number of cliches fitted into in a seven minute interview
  9. Okay, far from a popular choice and a good many of us have expressed reservations. However, he is now our manager and it is time to put these doubts and reservations to one side and give the man our full backing. Welcome John Hughes prove the doubters from and lead our club to even greater success. The League Cup and/or a place in Europe and you will have achieved in half a season what no other ICT manager has done in two decades. The king is dead. Long live the king.
  10. Leaving aside whether John Hughes is a good coach or technician and views of fans of his previous clubs seem to be mixed in that respect. I am concerned about reports that throughout his managerial career he is alleged to have been bullying, petulant and divisive on occasions leaving out in form and talented players who might have had the temerity to stand up to him on their own behalf or on behalf of their younger colleagues. We probably have the most united squad of players in the country with a number of natural leaders among them and that is one of our main strengths. Disupting that dressing room harmony would be a disaster. That said, most of the suggestions of bullying and discrimination, which are numerous, come from his earlier days in management and it may be that Yogi has matured and learned from his mistakes and that we will be getting a better and wiser John Hughes than either Falkirk or Hibs. Time will tell. I
  11. Is there any evidence that Paul Hartley applied for the job rather than the club sought to speak to him ?
  12. I really think we can discount compensation of thirty five thousand as being the reason why Paul Hartley is not being unveiled as our new manager. The board are not as short sighted as that. That is approximately 1% of our annual turnover and a great deal less than we recently banked as compensation for our previous management team. Whatever the reason for PH not being offered the job or he deciding not to take it, it would not have been a relatively paltry 35K.
  13. I see Ciftci has today received a two match ban for placing his hand on the linesman's neck.
  14. Yip. He has indeed appealed his two match ban.
  15. Plead guilty early and got a soft two match ban (one suspended) Jammy git.
  16. Alloa fans seem delighted to have retained their exciting young manager.
  17. As many others have said at least it's not Brewster!!! Not over the moon with Yogi but it could've been worse. Hope he's not reading this thread! Hope he is reading this thread and sets out to prove us all wrong...
  18. Oh great. A mediocre manager with an inexperienced assistant.
  19. If reports that Paul Hartley has put his obligations as an absent father before professional advancement I, for one, will not fault him for that. It may be disappointing for ICT but it does him great credit as a person. As far as John Hughes is concerned,I cannot fathom what the board see in him. He strikes me as more suited to the Vacancy at Morton rather than a team riding high in the top league and still on an upward trajectory. That said, Kenny Cameron and the board have had the opportunity, denied to the rest of us, of interviewing him at great length and, if he is indeed the man, have obviously seen something that has passed the great majority of us by. Disappointing as it may be, if Yogi is announced tomorrow as our new manager it will be time to put aside our reservations and back the man fully unless in his time with us, putting aside his previous record, he gives justification for doing otherwise.
  20. John Hughes for somehow still being in the running despite a woeful managerial CV.
  21. Having reflected overnight on the prospect of John Hughes, I am no happier with the thought. I honestly believe it would be the worst managerial appointment in the history of the club.
  22. Hughes would be a terrible appointment in my view.
  23. Sleep well.
  24. Heard Sheils on Sportsound this evening. Wasn't keen on him before and certainly not keen on him after that. That is some size of chip the man has on his shoulder.
  25. County came a cropper at Stranraer earlier in the season in the League Cup.
