There used to be league internationals mainly, although not exclusively, between the home nations. There's far too much pressure on the international timetable for there to be any hope of such matches being revived although there might be more merit in them now than at the time when, apart from the odd exception like Joe Baker, the scottish league team was overwhelminglly scottish.

My understanding is that the deal is potentially more than twice as lucrative as the last one. Very much on a par with what the likes of Dundee United get for shirt sponsorship. A good bit of business here by the commercial department.
