  1. Having Tierney back also made a huge difference.
  2. Just need to beat the World Cup finalists to make Kingsmills a highly contented man.
  3. Magnificent performance. Huge hearts and no little skill.🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
  4. Come on Scotland. England are, with every justification, firm favourites but we perform best as underdogs. We can do this 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
  5. Your point is perfectly valid and you are absolutely entitled to it although it now seems clear that neither player was free to move to us in January. Even if they were, why, at that time, would they choose to play at a lower level for half pay or less ? Now that they have effectively been made redundant they are choosing to move to the only other major employer in the same industry for over a hundred miles around so they don't have to disrupt their settled domestic arrangements. I am sure that the great majority of us would do the same in similar circumstances.
  6. I hope not. That would be fundamentally unfair. If there is to be a continuing restriction on numbers the equitable way to deal with it is by ballot.
  7. It would appear that you are very much in the minority with such a negative view. Personally, I am more enthused about the new season than I have been for some time.
  8. Great to see us doing so much business, and with such decent players, so early in the close season in contrast to so many years when we are playing catch up in July. That is the midfield and attack well and truly sorted with a decent depth and range of options in both departments. Just the defence to sort out now. Excellent. business so far on such a tight budget.
  9. I think this will be the most entertaining and competitive Championship for a number of years with ourselves, Kilmarnock, Hamilton, Dunfermline, Raith and Partck all fairly evenly matched in terms of financial resources and playing squad. It could indeed come down to fitness and avoiding unnecessary injuries in training so Mr Hughes could turn out to be the most important addition of all.
  10. You are absolutely correct in your assumption that I am not altogether familiar with the work of Mr Clark-Neal.😁
  11. Great to have such a promising youngster and for the full season rather than just until January. Not sure if it's down to Robbo, Dodds or the CEO but an excellent piece of business by someone.
  12. Also the new shirt sponsors of the England cricket team. They seem to be splashing a lot of cash just now.
  13. I am not sure that I would describe our signings so far as 'quality'. However, they are all experienced and perfectly able at Championship level and give us a chance of promotion this season. Given current circumstances and our financial constraints, that is probably all we can ask for just now. Definitely grounds for optimism.
  14. Two capable and experienced forwards signed in a single day. Very positive and at least one box ticked.
  15. Well worth a punt at Championship level and can be used sparingly as an impact substitute in the Premiership during the second year of his contract.
  16. Of course we spend. Maybe not on transfer fees but on signing on fees and wages.
  17. The main priority has to be to bring in at least one decent forward and preferably two.
  18. That and the fact that it is a great looking kit.
  19. Okay, prepared now to settle for not losing to England!
  20. From our sell on clause we maybe in line for Β£25, 2 bags of chips and a voucher for B&Q.
  21. Over two decades to wait to witness Scotland in a major tournament once again but just over forty minutes for that all too familiar feeling to re-emerge.
  22. I agree, the Storey who initially arrived with his magic hat was a very different proposition to the Storey who has pitched up at various clubs ever since.
  23. It is great news that the player survived and is now recovering in hospital. However, that outcome was very far from certain at the time and I have to say that I was appalled by the disgustingly voyarastic approach taken by whoever was directing the TV coverage. Once it became apparent just how serious the situation was there should have been no close up or zoomed in shots at the efforts to perform CPR, his distressed colleagues and teammates and, most particularly, his clearly and understandably distraught partner.
  24. Not losing against England and getting out of the group stage would represent success for me and would leave me highly contented.
  25. I was initially in a bit of a panic when I read that Hughes had joined our coaching staff !
