Weapon

The Tartan Army are nothing but a bunch of kilt-wearing, cringe-inducing, drunken hooligans. Better the Tartan Army than the trouser wearing, cringe inducing, drunken hooligans that have shamed the name of English football so often in the past. Just to be clear I don't have an issue with the Tartan Army per se. Hell I used to be one of them when I lived in Glasgow. But the booing tonight was very sorely disappointing.

Oh Dear..

Whatever people's view on CL picking Black the amount of booing from the tartan army was pathetic. It's not the players fault and to hear that on your (full) international debut is awful imo. Great result though.

Yeah I've wondered why they don't go up and down the aisles selling programmes. Staffing perhaps? Would be a good idea DD.

Domestic

To put some perspective on it finances wise looking at the figures if we (an SPL club) have sold say 2,000 STs at £300 that gives us £600k. The Rangers (a 3rd division club) have according to my bluenose workmate sold around 35,000 at say £250 so far giving them over £8.75mil. That gives them over 14 times our budget based on STs alone. To say nothing for the £250k deficit we already run at. I know it would be great to have bought in another Hayes and a proven striker but we have no money for this. All I hope that the team does it's best and shows desire, determination and passion on the pitch. If I feel the team has played to its potential and still lost you'll get no complaints from me. Of course if the team doesn't do that is a different matter. Clearly there are other issues within the managers control such as team selection, positions, tactics, subs etc and if folk think these are wrong fair dos, I often disagree with TB too and some of his decisions can be downright baffling. However the way some folk go on they'll no be happy unless we play in a manner that is a cross between Dutch total football, 70s Brazil and the current Spanish team. Hopefully our threadbare squad will come good and do us proud, but to write them off after one home game is very premature. Actually for some strange reason I,m more optimistic about this season than last.

Another excuse to stay away??? lol I'm sure the odd poundland pancho would surfice to keep them dry as well as keeping costs down Personally, in a few years time when my daughter is old enough and hopefully wants to come to the games I'll take the hit and sit in the North Stand I think. The thought of a kid moaning for 90 mins would put me off more than anything on the pitch ever could!!!

Less than the price of a single adult in the North Stand (family section) and works out at around £11.50 a game, which is a fantastic price no question, but I'm not too sure for how long the kids would want to keep going in times of less favourable weather!

I understand that taking kids to the game can end up being pricey if you are travelling, parking, getting the food, which let's be honest is poor for the price, programme is now 50p so it ain't so bad. But if you can make the games based on 19 home games in the North Stand (family section) for an under 12 it works out at £2.10 a game! A season ticket for the price of an xbox game. For a 13 to 16 year old it works out at £4.70 a game and finally 16 - 25 anywhere in the North Stand it would be about £9.50. Of course that's if you make the games. TBH that's on par with the cinema and you don't always know if you are going to enjoy what you see there either! Fair enough if you have 5 kids but personally I don't think that's too bad value so long as they enjoy it of course!

Nice to see the Main vs North issuse come up again. I rather enjoyed the view from the Main Stand for a change even remembered to bring my sunglasses, quieter yes but my mood may have been helped by the 4 pints I had in hospitality before. I actually think that the North Stand lads haven't been as vocal since they moved to Section E from G strange as the stewards seem to be leaving them to it these days. Kille fans sounded in reasonable voice considering there was so few of them. Anyway, North v Main only one way to find out who's best...

Funnily I was thinking about this yesterday as I also do youth work in Hilton, Merkinch and Kirkhill. I often have young people asking why I support ICT as they are 'rubbish'. Out of the young people that have an interest in footie I'd guess that around 80% support the old firm, 10% or so ICT and the rest being a mix of the Dons, Jambos etc. Throw some Clachers into the mix for the Merkinch youth club, which to be fair is their local club and some actually play for them. To say nothing for the number of EPL shirts I see too. Some of the young people have come from or have parents that have come from other places so it's not surprising if for example their dad came from Glasgow that they would support one of the OF. However many are Inverness born and bred but you would probably find that their parents, older uncles, brothers etc will support the OF and that will be passed down unless something is done to divert away from that. That's where we have to intervene getting young people down to the stadium for a game, tour meet a couple of players etc. It's never going to be easy as it's ultimately cool to support a team that wins most of the time, is on tv, in the papers and no young person wants to be slagged of due to their team getting beat much of the time. No easy solutions sadly but you have to keep plugging away! I say this from some personal experience as I supported Rangers in my younger years (as my Grandad supported them and Clach, dad had no interest in footie) and pre 94 Caley were my wee team (as my uncle Ben was a big Caley man who took me to Telford St sometimes, now a refusnik!). When I got older 17ish I basically fell out of love with football altogether and it wasn't till I was in my early twenties that I started taking notice of the ICT results and went to some away games as I was living in Glasgow. When I moved back to Inverness I bought a ST and have done so since. Anyhoo I will continue to try and spread the good word of ICT in whatever capacity I'm working!
