  1. There you go, that's our unique tradition - harping on about things that happened 20 years ago!

But here's a question for you. Esson has been our keeper against SPL sides 8 times this season. How many of those games did we win? I'll give you a clue. It starts with a zero. Not that I am saying he was at all responsible, but it has to be acknowledged that throughout our fantastic run of results, Regeuro was between the sticks. I think we are fortunate to have 2 really good keepers to choose from. I just wish we had this kind of choice in midfield and attack.

Simple question, but is there a simple answer?

The big concern is that our two most influential players, Foran and Shinniesta, will be out for "a few weeks". This is seriously bad news and I'm gettingreally concerned that our whole season has unravelled in the space of a week's events. We have a fantastic first choice XI, but when we have to draft in replacements there's not much experience there, just a load of youngsters. We saw yesterday that when Sheridan went off Killie could bring on Heffernan, vastly experienced and a proven scorer at this level. We don't have that luxury, just some raw talent. There's also a danger that without our playmakers, the team loses a bit of self-confidence and resorts to the long ball stuff that gets us nowhere. Soneone please cheer me up.
  5. Flares, smoke bombs and pitch invasions.
  6. The irony is that we all wanted Terry to stay, but if he had gone to Barnsley I can't imagine that his replacement would have lost all 3 of these big games.
  7. What's the weekly equivalent of an annus horribilis?

These threads always turn into a list of everyones favourite songs.
  9. That's exactly how the Jambos describe his penalty!
  10. I've just had a look at the club's finances, and I really think we can do something here. A snowman, with a bandage.
  11. On a few other clubs' forums, including even SPL ones like Aberdeen and Dundee Utd, threads have been started suggesting that Tokely could perhaps do a job for them. OK, thse suggestions been rapidly and vociferously shot down by the vast majority of responding posters, complete with plenty of insults about Tokely's footballing ability, but I thought it was interesting all the same that he still has some admirers at other clubs.

You'd think that if Norwich had any sense they'd divert their attention, and their £9m, to a striker who has 30% more SPL goals than Hooper!

And they've brought in 22-year-old defender Branislav Micic from FC Sion. Bit of a foreign legion developing over the bridge this month.

Aye, been rumoured for months that he'd be getting a contract with Brora and a job with the owner's company.

Not going to happen. Wouldn't suit our style of play and we can't afford his wages anyway. He said the Highlands, not Inverness.....!

Marius Niculae in transfer controversy shocker! From BBC transfer deadline day page: "It looks like Sporting might not be able to re-sign Marius Niculae after all. Niculae has already played for two clubs this season, having turned out for Dinamo Bucharest in the Romanian Super Cup before joining Vaslui. The maximum number of clubs FIFA allows a player to be registered with in one July to June period is two."

Incidentally, Bucarest had sold Marius to another Romanian club, Vaslui, for £250,000. The reason I ask is that back in 2008 many fans here were going ballistic that our board didn't get a sell on clause. If we had insisted on a cash + sell-on deal with Bucarest, the cash amount would have been less than we got for a straight cash sale. That's just the way it works. How much less, we'll never know. But all we'd have got in return would have been, what 10% of the £250,000? Paid 5 years later? And cross-border sell-on clauses are also troublesome when it comes actually trying to collect the sell-on payment at all. With hindsight I would say the straight cash deal was the better option. It's been on my mind since 2008.

Incredible! At first I thought you were joking or got the wrong Niculae, but now aged 31 he has indeed got a deal there until the end of next season, at the where club he made a name for himself about 10 years ago. He's certainly been scoring a lot of goals in Romania, but I can't help thinking that bringing back for a former star is something that often placates the fans rather than improves the team. Good luck to him though, and I do like the idea that Sporting Lisbon take our cast-offs.
  24. After doing a bit of digging, I think Goncalves might have been ineligible.......
