  1. Aye it was never over the line, it's just a shame that after doing the good work to give himself an open goal, Hayes was a bit off balance and made such poor contact.
  2. Sounds like a great performance for a makeshift team. After some highly questionable decisions last week Butcher seems to have got the tactics spot on this time. 55% possession at Ibrox is pretty impressive.
  3. Spot on. If people want to sing things that make themselves look ignorant, that's fine by me, and it shouldn't be a crime.
  4. Has it been pointed out that Hearts shirt sponsor is Wonga, a business that makes cash advances to keep people going until payday? It's almost as ironic as when Livi racked up huge debts and went bust at the time they were sponsored by Intelligent Finance.
  5. Getting back to the original topic, I see that Blackie's drugs trial has been adjourned until February.
  6. From BBC Gossip section: I'm not sure he's cut out for a career in painting. Never mind the height issue, whatever colour paint you want, he sees red!
  7. And with him being out of contract at the end of the season, I guess it's possible that we will never see him again.
  8. There's always an added risk with signing a player with a history of injuries. For ICT the risk worked out brilliantly with Dargo, and even Niculae came good after a slow and unfit start. I agree it's all about risk and reward, but the assessment has to be made at the time, without hindsight, and your comparisons seem a bit unfair to me. It's easy to see why OTJ was signed on a good wage - experience of playing at a decent level over many years, and an international to boot. A risk worth taking? I don't recall anyone saying anything to the contrary at the time. GMS on the other hand had never played a competitive game of football in his entire life. ICT took him for a test drive and he broke down. He was clearly talented but very high risk. I'm pretty sure he would have been touted round every pro club in Scotland that summer, but nobody signed him, not just ICT, nobody thought he was worth the risk on the terms he was looking for at the time. Dundee Utd only signed GMS the following season, after he had eventually proven his ability and fitness with Airdrie. Should we have looked at him again at that point? He was certainly worth the risk by then but we are pretty strong in that position and had other signing priorities. There's always a degree of luck with these things, but it's perfectly understandable why all parties did what they did and didn't what they didn't. It's also perhaps a bit early to be concluding or implying who was the better signing - there's a long way to go, and Saturday was GMS's first 90 minutes this season - OTJ has at least managed two full games!

Terry stays down in the dugout - presumably for the safety of fans in the main stand who offer "advice".

  11. I was talking to a tax partner at one of the big accountancy firms recently about Rangers appeal against the tax assessment and his view was that "they don't have a leg to stand on".

Depends what team they play for!

Incorrect! It's a penalty because of where the foul took place, not how serious it was.

And oddly enough he's not the first prominent Tory to play for ICT, after Liam Fox. What are the chances of that, especially when you consider that Scotland now has more pandas than Tory MPs.

(The Sun) (BBC) What a dude!
  16. I've often thought it would be useful if a someone could upload them somewhere online (here?) but in the meantime, anyone can go to Companies House here and download accounts, returns and other documents for ?1 each. Take your pick:
  17. From BBC Gossip section: St Mirren manager Danny Lennon admits he got his tactics wrong in his team's 2-1 home defeat on Saturday. (Daily Record)
  18. Thanks so much for posting this, and any way of promoting it would be fantastic :D Interesting and informal interviews, thanks!
  19. I remember playing football in the school playground back in 1982, and we all wanted to be Socrates or Zico. Strangely nobody wanted to be Alan Rough.
  20. First time we've won a game this season and had a chance to follow it up the next Saturday. The previous 3 wins came before international breaks and any momentum was lost.
  21. To be honest I thought we were slightly fortunate today - and about time too. Thomson should have buried that chance early on, and then we went ahead thanks to a suicidal pass from McAusland. After that it seemed pretty evenly matched and the difference was that Hayes brilliantly picked out an opportunity. We played well and took our chances, and that's what it's all about. But I think it's fair to say we've played better this season and not won, so hopefully the corner has been turned when it comes to getting the rub of the green.
  22. This is torture.
  23. Keep it tight, PLEASE!!!

Just to get everyone in the mood for a goalfest, ICT again feature in the BBC website's SPL Classic with the 3-3 draw in Paisley back in February this year. SPL Classic 3-3 Couple of good finishes from some lad called Rooney, but the highlight for me is Esson's save at the end.
