  1. This week's SPL Classic on the BBC website is our victory from December 2007. Enjoy! This brings back happy memories - and not just of the great win itself. I had just become a dad for the first time a few days beforehand, and was watching the game at home while we had all these relatives round. They were all going goo-goo ga-ga at the baby, whilst I was focused purely on the screen and was going ga-ga in a different way. The following week I made it to Tynecastle for the fantastic injury time 3-2 win, which I believe made it 5 wins in a row for us. Happy days!
  2. They've used the wrong badge
  3. Ireland officially there now. Imagine this : Italy Greece Portugal Ireland The Group of Debt!
  4. I was (pleasantly) surprised to see a copy of Going Ballistic in a Perth based charity auction - donated and signed by the author. Thought I'd mention it here because its an excellent and collectable book, the club shop don't seem to sell it any more, its for a good cause and it has no bids at all yet. Oh, and very appropriately its listed right above a Celtic shirt! Scroll down to item SL36 And in item 87 near the bottom, the Hamilton v County hospitality, spot the mistake!
  5. Would be great if Johnny stays fit long enough to get in contention. Otherwise we could be faced with the first Euros in 8 years not to have an ICT player.....
  6. As fitness coach or hostage negotiator?
  7. Presumably Terry is the first inductee to be associated with an Inverness team. Who will be the next?
  8. It's refreshing that there's a united Glasgow side in women's football. But what school did they all go to?

You might be too modest to repost this so I'll do it for you!
  10. Agreed, but in the cold light of day, do we have to acknowledge that the goalfest was as much due to Killie's tactical ineptidude as to our own good performance? Up until the 59th minute they were very much in the game - it was 1-2, and they could easily have just been awarded a penalty for Rossco's handball. Then their manager decided to throw caution to the wind, taking off a defender and midfielder and putting on 2 more attack minded players. That left them horribly exposed at the back, they were all over the place defensively, and we ruthlessly took advantage of that. 3 goals in the 7 minutes following the change. Sounds a bit like I'm raining on our bonfire and p1ssing on our fireworks, but I'm not. We were superb on the counterattack, but I'm just suggesting that Killie's tactical change made it all possible, and other managers won't take our attacking threat so lightly in the coming weeks.
  11. Actually Esson's positioning didn't look at all clever for the first goal on Saturday, with a wide gap at his near post leaving an easy finish for Killie's excellent move. And was he unhappy with his attempt at stopping the 3rd goal as well?
  12. My broker tells me that shares in Auchterarder Chippie plc have bounced back, having lost 90% of their value in the previous 10 months. There's an interview quote from their Managing Director Bob Haddock in today's Financial Times, saying "Things are looking up at last, now that my biggest customer has finally come back. They even lent me a big French lad to help out behind the counter on Saturday evening. At first I thought he was a bit of a liability, and there was an unfortunate mix-up between "poisson" and "poison". But the lad works very hard and he certainly knows how to dispense a professional battering".
  13. Especially when they are calling up Craig Samson, FFS!
  14. I think we're all still buzzing about that result and the tremendous attacking performance from the "Sh-ad-ayes" trio.
  15. It was a 4-1
  16. We've just got our 3rd win of the season, and rather strangely, each of them has come just before an international break. This means that we are full of hope for the duration of the lay off thinking we have finally got our act together, only to find that what little momentum there was has been completely lost and we find ourselves back to square 1. Won't be easy to get back to back results this time either, but hopefully we can at least keep the standard of performance up.
  17. I know we famously beat Ayr 7-3, but at SPL level is this the highest number of goals we have scored, and the highest scoring game we have been involved in?
  18. With Greece having qualified for Euro 2012 but now being in administration, perhaps they should suffer a penalty like relegation to the Scottish 3rd Division? This might enable Samaras to get some goals.

    Rooney

Did Rooney even touch the ball tonight? He just wasn't in the game at all, although much of that was down to lack of service and a poor strike partner. They both lacked pace and creativity.
  20. I've got an idea. Why don't all the SPL teams go into administration, get the debts cleared off their books and then start with a clean slate - and with every team getting the same 10 point penalty, nobody is actually worse off! (Well, apart from the creditors that is, but since when did fans care about them.)
  21. Hardly a surprise, but disappointing all the same.
  22. Hearts will not go bust altogether, no way, but they might end up in administration. Rangers are far more likely to go into administration, and this is when the likely punishment gets interesting. Dundee were the last Scottish club to meet that fate, and only got a 25 point penalty, so I suppose that is the starting point. The powers that be then have to consider that if Hearts go first, they would pretty much have to apply the same punishment to Rangers if they go next. Rightly or wrongly, there is a belief that "Scottish football needs Rangers" and needs them to be strong and successful, so I wouldn't be surprised if they got a sympathetic hearing, blaming it all on the previous owner, and get a penalty that might cost them the title, but still guarantees Rangers a European place. So with that in mind, Hearts may well get away with less than a 25 point penalty, and having plenty of Edinburgh businessmen to step in, they would still be able to put together a team with a much bigger wage bill than us or Dunfermline and would therefore avoid relegation, particularly with the head start they currently have in the league table.
  23. Photographic evidence! Good to see Commons having a laugh about it, and the whole rumour just seemed too good to be true, but Mjallby's denial is one which makes suggests something probably did happen. "I've not seen any bust-ups," as opposed to "There was no bust-up" "They're too nice for that, our players." Aye, but what about the manager?
  24. Just to clarify, I mean clean sheets on the pitch - although I do find that Richie's bedding doesn't get changed often enough, and Gregory's pillow cases have a funny taste....
