  1. Some amount of Greenesque logic there. I have the same feeling for the Portsmouth fans too, they haven't asked for the problems they have had. And Plymouth, and Clydebank, and Airdrie, and Port Vale, Wimbledon etc etc. Been a Kingsmills Jaggie, I never asked for Caledonian to be added to my club, but have had to move on. Doesnt stop me believing we could have achieved our progress with out the merger. If Thistle or Caledonian had got into the scottish league themselves, they would have completely outgrown the others left in the Highland league, and become the dominant force in the Highlands. But as so many original Caley fans profess, its still not the same as if they still had their original club. Our current home strip takes the biscuit for me, not only does it obliterate Thistle, but it reminds me of Rangers Maybe the merger was handled badly - as an outsider looking in, Maybe a new name like Inverness on it's own, or a new tag like Highlanders, would have been better. I can understand the fans wanting to hang on to history, but clubs do evolve, see Newton Heath, or Royal Arsenal , or Ardwick , history is important,! To get back on topic, it is history that has bogged Rangers down. The new set up should dump history, at Ibrox, it is tarnished beyond belief. M K Dons sent all the medals cups and regelia to the Town Hall at Merton. They had the faith to make a new start and leave the old Wimbledon behind. So should Rangers hanging on to the past will only get in the way. Glasgow is a glorious City reconised throughout the world. Rangers owners should show it and their fans the respect they deserve. http://www.theglasgowstory.com/storyd.php
  2. Should the Glasgow bragging rights in respect of trophies be allowed to overshadow everything Nobody outside the so called " second city of the British empire ", cares one iota Lots of strange goings on in football are unexplained I think the tribunal is a good thing
  3. Surely the salient point is as the judge says below " Lord Nimmo Smith has launched a strongly worded defence of his tribunal, due to rule on Rangers' Employee Benefit Trust payments" If there is coruption it goes farther than Rangers. It is just not about Rangers but against tax dodging, There may be a cancer throughtout UK football, we don't know the half of it.

  5. Scotland formally Caledonia was only caused because the Romans stopped marching northwards in Northumberland, Most of the original Scots were really Britons pushed north by the Roman army My point is International boundaries are not God given. Great Britain is once piece of land names do not matter. I don't want to be voted into a foreign land, neither do nearly a million Scots living south of the border weant to be in a foreign country. I lived in France for a while, and nice as the people are, in is not home. There are a lot of young Scots go to England for work, instead of getting work automatically, they will have to get a new national Insurance number. Tax office problems will also come into and lots of uynessary paperwork. People living in Gretna for instance going to hospital in Carlisle will have to fill in all sorts of forms ie E11 certificates Cars bought in England will have to be reregistered with Scots numberplates. All post will go at airmail rates LIFE WILL BECOME EXCEEDINGLY COMPLICATED, iNDEPENDANCE IS POINTLESS AND A REAL BUM IDEA .
  6. There is no BBC in Independant Ireland , once part of the Union, so I supect the BBC will disapear from Scotland To be replaced by SBC.
  7. Some peoplw will do anything to dance with Ms S Williams I presume the winners still dance together in the after tournement bash ?
  8. Whatever is agreed should be reciprocated for the next match betwween the two clubs in Dingwall , Ganders and Geese come to mind
  9. I hope it will get better too but I'm 100% sure we won't get any points from Aberdeen tomorrow. ;) Laurence is a divvy The coop gives us Divvy We need a dividend todayi I will be supporting a different team today, definitely not supporting ICT. "Ah well" I can put it down to old age? My 70th year But I can't because as a young man I travelled to Tranmere from Rossendale when the match was off I once went to Bury for a night match in the freezing cold , to find out the game had been played in the afternoon I had my ticket for the Chelsea v Wimbledon semi-final , I was buying my train ticket , when the booking clerk noticing my scarf said " You do know the match was this morning ; and Chelsea won and your team lost." It was a nice train journey anyway, and I got back in time to watch Murray But I am a Divvy that's for sure

  11. You can argue this way or that way You can talk about mistakes made in the past till you are blue in the face The fact remains and all would agree including the manager there has to be an improvement A poor result against Aberdeen tomorrow will reduce the players moral to zero I don't have an answer. I just keep hoping it will get better.
  12. Don't see how a players antecedence is of any importance, as long as he can play.
  13. Let us try to evaluate Terry Butcher logically His strenths Determination Bravery Optimism Past Performance as a player Tutored by Bobby Robson, at Ipswich and in an England shirt Promotion Knowledge of the Scottish game both club level and Scottish International coaching duties His weakness's Prior to ICT low level of management sucess Relegation Poor reaction to Critics and supporters Over confidence Lack of a good Assistant manager Poor coaching of set pieces Needs a good first team coach to work with him Seems to have personality clashes with senior players From my point of view ICT do need to get a new face into the coaching staff There are a lot of technical issues that need to be addressed. The team need to sharpen up on their passing skills, on closing down, on marking , and on set pieces. I won't make a comment on whether he should go or not, but things need to improve.. I remember Paul Merson saying after his spell as Walsall manager. " It is hard for an International player to understand, how lesser players think and play , they really need someone of their own background to coach them,* I feel Terry Butcher is thinking like an International and Rangers centre back. Enough said
  14. When playing my game it started to snow Ross Tolkey got a yellow card - Caption " Tolkey is skateting on thin ice", just had to smile
  15. http://fantasy.nfl.c...me_CP_Core_join if anyone is interested tremendous fun I have 4 teams in 4 dufferent leagues
  16. McFadden Superb running back with Oakland

  18. I thought Celtic never got out of 3rd gear . They were never pressed, untill the last 10 minutes when they had all their reserves on. I think Celtic are playing much better this season than they have played for years. They are so very relaxed, they have a no fear attitude brought upon by the diapearance of Rangers. They are playing without totally without pressure knowing they will walk the league and fortune beckons in Europe.. Having said all that, I see no reason to believe we will not compete in this league , "there is only one Celtic".
  19. MY PERCEPTION OF THE GAME WAS THAT WE WERE OUTCLASSED BY A MUCH BETTER TEAM. fASTER IN MIDFIELD AND BETTER CONTROLLERS OF A FOOTBALL However we played better than we did against Kilmarnock, the difference was ICT was punished for their mistakes , which Killie didn't do. I get the impression we should narrow the pitch. We have no wide men capable of using such a wide pitch, so why provide the opposition of Celtic's quality the room to exploit our fragile fullbacks The boy Draper has great qualities, I am sure he will thrive as the season continues. One begins to think how good our northern neighbours are when we consider how close they came to a victory against Celtic. No need to worry though , I am sure we can consolidate, not many teams in this league can compete with Celtic. Doom and gloom by the fans after this result is a bit previous I feel.
  20. What's the point in carry on with these arguments None of us are going to see eye to eye on this So lets draw a line on this. All I say is think hard Indepence is permanent, voting at an election for a government can de reversed , whose to say that Jo Lamont wont beat Salmond to be first PM of Scotland. Politics is a funny business When we are getting Jingoistic replies like the on above, it proves we are going nowhere. I am out of the thread, say what you want I'm not coming back in.
  21. I like it here too I had a place in France once, very nice but it was not my homeland. UK / Great Britain is my homeland now. Not England not Scotland but Great Britain. I don't want to be in a foreign land Neither do the 800,000 Scots living in England I suspect. They won,t even get a vote , making them foreigners.
  22. Where or why you get your mail from is a complete red herring I am not scaremongering a term Emperor Salmond came up with when he cant answer questions. Independence would exist long after Salmond has hung up his boots I am only using present day Royal Mail policy. Which is For Example but it may help to knock some sense into your SNP patriotic head Send a parcel 600 grms from Belfast to Dublin costs on a PPI contract £4.90 Send the same parcel to Londonderry would cost £2.05 In the event it would go through the 25mm gauge would only be £1.80 As I send at lest 30 to 60 parcels a week to other parts of the UK, I am looking at at least £100 a week loss As I am a single trader senior citizen I could do without the agro. If you want to follow the pipe dream of secession, fair enough, but find a good reason for it, not the dribble Salmond comes up with. All I ever here from SNP politicians is a gripe against modern politics, I should point out they change with time. The voters can change governments every few years Voting for separation means for ever, if you don’t like it there is no going back. Long after me you Salmond Cameron or anybody else alive to day , Scotland will be stuck with finding their own way. Just like the Irish republic, Scotland will be asking for hand outs from Germany I suspect I was talking to prominent MSP the other day he told me the EEC will ask any new applicants to join the Euro zone. I once worked with a motor mechanic, his guiding advice was “if it aint broke don’t fix it “. Incidentally I have posted thousands of parcels now in the 14 years I have been selling books I know what I am talking about. I resent being called a liar.
  23. It was disapointing game, however I saw a few positives, I think the main problem was the team seemed unsure when to press, challenge , or stand off. I thought the centre backs held the line well, some good headed clearences. The fullbacks I thought wandered out of position too many times. The Killie goalkeeper made 3 world class saves, Ryan also kept well especially the save from the rebounded pentalty save. I thought Killie were encroaching on the penalty, I want to see that on the tape. The whole team looked very rusty, and unsure of their positioning, also they didn't seem to be able to keep a constant tempo, sometimes rushing, and sometimes unsure how to hold up play. I thought the throw ins were awful untill the last sub came on and he slung a long one, I couldn't believe it. But I think all in all an enjoyable afterrnoon. I would say it can only get better. I always think the team should work more on set pieces, our goal came from pressure after a free kick. I was also disapointed with the first touch of a lot of our players Some more work on that aspect in training I feel.
