how about a round of follow follow after that :015: i prefer the old county ones, its a shame theyre in division 2 neilly cooper on his farm oo arr oo arr :017:
  4. What are you smoking?! :015: I'd agree that Beckham should play in the middle, as he seems to play better in there but there is no way he's the best holding midfielder in the world! He couldn't tackle a fish supper, never mind an attacking midfielder! Gattuso, Makelele, Xavi, Mascherano, Cambiasso, Pizarro are just some players who would be easily ahead of him and a fair few others as well. Beckham's become too much of a one-trick pony these days, only remembered if he scores a free-kick or provides a good cross for a goal. The reason Madrid signed him and the reason that he's in LA is marketing, pure and simple. He wants to open academies in the states, wants to become more involved in the hollywood scene in order to earn a lot more money from sponsorship deals. He'll play well for Galaxy because he'll stand out a lot more and of course the media will fall over his every move. beckham couldnt tackle a fish supper.. where you getting that from? because he poses for photoshoots and shaves his legs? the guys a great midfielder and is as committed as any of the players you mention, i was as surprised as anybody to see him playing infront of the back four at real but he made gravesson look like nakamura. when he did make himself space and had more time to pick a pass the only player ive seen this past 5 years that bettered him was zidane. only critique of beckhams style is that he doesnt come forward often enough, if he worked himself into positions where he could whip shots in hed score about a dozen goals a season
  5. what cc can never prove i was wrong on was saying he never had the standing, experience, nerve or basic credentials that all young managers that are dropped nuts first into the spl need. he was the wrong appointment and a massive (needless) risk i still dont think he is the right man for the job, though he has the chance now to prove hes capable. it seems we've been without football long enough for everybody to forget how pish we played last season, i just worry we'll get back into the same rut and cc wont be able to hold it together. im not sure what else to say, i did say last year id keep quiet all summer and see how we go 07/08, so i will!
  6. beckhams one of the best holding midfielders in the world, if not the best. when he used to sit infront of the real back 4 and ping the passes around he was clinical and impossible to predict. the majority of people in the uk (and the england management for some reason) thought he should still be stuck out on the right where he played best as a teenager, he isnt fast or aggressive enough to do anything there and hasnt been for a decade would imagine at la galaxy he'll probably pick where he wants to play, theyll build the team with him in the middle and very possibly change the way the games played in the states forever. i think he made a big mistake in leaving madrid and will lose his place in the england team but he'll do well if arsenal or spurs were a bit more serious in their contract offers then either wouldve been a better move, if he had to move at all
  7. have to say im encouraged by what ive read there, also assured that i was right in saying he wasnt up to the job last season remember everybody if we do get relegated, it could well take us another decade to get back, lets just hope he doesnt fall apart again as itll cost us more than a just a few bad results
  8. dont see a problem with him taking free kicks aslong as rankin has first refusal
  9. had to vote hibs along with 2 other people. seem to go about their business the right way in the transfer market and in their relationship with their fans, they probably have third biggest (and passionate) support in scotland at the moment. their 5-1 win and post match celebrations in the cis cup final was the highlight of last season
  10. id actually welcome elgin not being so p1sh, itd make a change from even more investment going into the dead horse to our west, they do have the potential to be a first division sized outfit
  11. i think we are in such a remote geographic location (to footballers) that it would be a mistake to ignore the possibility that offering one almost-could-have-been may be seen as being unfair on the rest of the side. its not as if there dozens of tokelys, munros, harts, wilsons etc hanging out round the north of scotland ready to step in if the current players decide they dont want to have the p1ss taken out of them and go earn the same money they are on now with another spl or first division club. to expand on what i said at the end of my last post- "i might sound crazy but id actually feel better about this attempt to sign nicolae if there was talk of signing maybe 3 or higher wage players in one summer." ..or if current squad members were given an assurance that they could earn the same if they prove theyre good enough, its a line we may well have to take. (mind you if we held that position before then dargo could well be on 4k a week with us :017: he wouldnt be worth it)
  12. midweeks impossible but i do like my dodgy pre-seaosn friendlies against teams who cant afford a bus to inverness 17.07.2007 at 19:45 Elgin City ---> no 18.07.2007 at 19:30 Clachnacuddin ---> no 21.07.2007 at 15:00 Keith ---> maybe 22.07.2007 at 14:00 Inverurie Locos ---> no 25.07.2007 at 19:30 Peterhead ---> no 28.07.2007 at 15:00 Ross County ---> maybe
  13. e i e i o he could well be too small to be of any use in the spl. black is a scrappy wee midget and hes useless in the penalty box, unless this guy is a miniature hulk hogan he'll be lucky to score the 6 goals in 29 he did down south
  14. the problem for me is that i wouldn't want us to be putting all our eggs in one basket, not to say that if he breaks his leg and is a hopeless failure that we're in trouble but it will be a waste of alot of the good work thats gone on over the past couple of years behind the scenes. a 2 year contract at 4k a week, plus bonuses, works out to be around a £500k contract. craig dargo cost us nothing and was being paid peanuts his first season, ian black, dods, rest of squad likewise. something just doesn't sit right with this romanian guy, is a forward going to play an influential enough role to justify the investment? if we are going to pay one player a decent wage then shouldnt it be a central defender with a similar pedigree? though if mr savage could put down in writing exactly where the extra wage is coming from id be all for it, as from what ive read online if he is fit then he could really be a class above any forward currently playing in the league. if we were going to break the bank to sign a gorgios efrem or torben joneleit (crap foreigners signed by other spl clubs so far this summer) then i wouldnt be in two minds whatsoever, id be dead against the move. this particular signing is totally unique and would be a real bargain to either of the old firm or a quality signing for a bigger scottish team, we may eventually regret not upping our offer should he end up at hearts or rangers i might sound crazy but id actually feel better about this attempt to sign nicolae if there was talk of signing maybe 3 or higher wage players in one summer.
  15. i give sophie -8 for the most woolgather bafflin' post of the week top of the class :sillywave: united bank of belgian waffle league 07-09 1. sophia -8

true enough charles, there are tiny amounts of co2 in the atmosphere but already its theres too much to slow the process of climate change. small amounts of co2 being released into the atmosphere form central europe for the past 100 years and increasingly from the far east is causing tiny increases in global temperature by thinning the oz layer. the areas of the planet the most sensitive to small differences in temperature change are the tundra of north america and russia. when they heat up the permafrost melts and releases more fresh water into the arctic ocean than there naturally ever should be. by 'more fresh water' i mean billions of gallons of it every day, the worlds biggest rivers by volume are all in northern russia. all of this extra fresh water is having an impact on the currents that regulate the temperature of the north atlantic, as fresh water retains less heat than salt. changes in ocean currents beneath the north atlantic are releasing pockets (thousands of square miles of 'em) of methane between here and greenland, which makes any scratching at the surface mans been doing over the past couple of hundred years look as pathetic as charles seems to believe it is. truth is the scratching and burning away is the trigger for a much greater and deadlier process, that although has naturally occurred hundreds of times since the earth developed an atmosphere has never actually been accelerated to current levels if i was mr ict id build the stadium on higher ground
  18. or he could get injured again
  19. sproules a great singing for a championship club, pace is his best attribute but hes a good finisher aswell, its a shame he went to bristol city
  20. actually agree with thewynessshuffle there despite saying bayne myself! i was thinking under rated nationally (like munro) with that answer, im shocked the likes of killie, aberdeen etc arent kicking our door down for him
  21. sorry, i wouldve said if id taken note of your number mrs m but i wont be joining you this weekend as duty calls. im sure everything thats said will be online within about 48 hours anyway. im mainly interested to hear if anybody has an opinion on the true monetary value of yer average scottish football club why the trusts (around the uk as a whole) arent exercising a bit of common sense and a little more caution when dealing with clubs who are for the most part one bad season away from financial ruin maybe next year ill have a day off
  22. eh? :029: so far we've only given our raffle manager the top job
  23. id rather give you a call. ill leave it tonight and give you a ring from my mobile in the morning (pending new phone charger actually working) otherwise ill call you from work, itll either randomly come up with an 01389 or an 0845/0870 number between 9 and 5, just so youre expecting it! (and if i have to join the ict supporters trust for access ill be far more than happy to do so) and ihe im only interested in whats going to be said! ive got to work until about 11am checking if a grown adult can read. its in kilpatrick so not too far into town. ill be at a loose end and seen as i work with somebody who is involved with the falkirk franchise of the trust movement itd be interesting to go, though he'll be there independantly with his crew
  24. phone issues have just been resolved thanks to ebay. whats the latest i can call tonight?
