  2. I'm a Nationalist actually :004: I cant see whats unreasonable about my posts on this topic or why being called a 'Tory' is considered an insult, if the Tories believe that people shouldnt have the right to endanger others jobs through their selfish actions then sign me up. If a postman doesnt want to get paid x amount per hour, get up for work at 3am or do 60 hour weeks, then every opportunity exists for them to work their way out of the situation into a better job and in the rare occurrence that there isnt a chance for them to do so then tough luck, be thankful for the money you are paid. Tescos staff dont work 60 hour weeks but then they get paid less, the choice is always there. Working for the RM isnt national service, these people applied for their positions, if they werent aware at the time of doing so that the company was p1ssing away money or they joined at a time when they could get away with whatever they wanted, then again tough, every company changes and no amount of strike action is going to make a cheque from the government get any larger. I'll repeat myself here, if their employer is losing hundreds of millions a year (possibly over a billion) then they need to realise that things cant continue as they are forever. A girl that works for me sometimes used to be an employee with the RM in a Scottish sorting office, when I asked her what her take on the current situation was she basically said she wasnt surprised. She said the night staff were told to work slower or theyd have to cut the shifts of everybody by 4 hours, which would lead to a % of the workforce having to leave, despite the fact that shifts lasting 4 hours longer than they had to was costing them thousands a day! People who worked too fast were made to feel guilty/threatened, the floor supervisor would walk them around to let them meet face to face with the people THE EMPLOYEE was sacking, due to the increased workrate. Apparently 3 years ago somebody changed the time of the first nightshift break by 5 minutes, the union reps were up in arms and ordered members to leave the floor, the girl was caught up in it all. She said she was p1ssing herself laughing at some 70's throwback on a megaphone, standing on some pallets, shouting about the lack of respect the managers had for the working staff! I am a socialist and I do believe workers rights should be protected, in terms of being given fair chances and offered flexibility especially, the more money a profitable company gives back to the staff responsible the better. But the accounts have to at least come close to adding up or else its all for nothing.
  3. My gripe is fairly straight forward. If being a postie isnt earning you enough money or taking up too much of your time then retrain as something else, apply for something better, do more for the extra money or accept that for wage increases mean cuts have to be made elsewhere. It is great living in a democracy, myself, gringo and whoever else that has been inconvenienced by the walk out are entitled to have our say the same as the posties are, we're even allowed to be p1ssed at them. As for reprisals, we all know nothing will happen to those involved, no matter what the economics dictate! You said it yourself, electronic mail is taking over and the Royal Mail staff wont accept cut backs?! If I wanted a better wage and the company I worked for was losing hundreds of millions a year, then I'd need a bloody good reason before switching off the computer and waiting for negotiations to swing my way.
  4. The big difference now is that being a postie doesnt necessarily have to be a job for life (if it ever was), like any employee in any field, if the job isnt providing satisfaction then you do something about it yourself, you should head down to the job center and you apply for something better. Are the Royal Mail providing an essential public service? Aye! But as far as I'm aware theyre privatised now, not sure they should have right to just go on strike or get goverment protection for it. They've been losing hundreds of millions a year since going private ffs! I've no idea, if there are some former Union types on here then maybe they could clear things up, give us a hint as to when the workers will do the smart thing and get back to work!
  5. Was that on topic or off topic? :018: ..who cares its not the house of lords
  6. If anything that comment increases confidence of an ICT win.
  7. Middle of next week :015: Theyve downed tools until Wednesday 3am, youll be lucky to get it by next Saturday if they arent striking again. The goverment will have a Xbillion number in a safe somewhere that will be the limit they are willign to subsidise the postal service, every day they CWU strikes they'll be geting alot closer to it, then the plug will be pulled and everybody will lose their jobs. Future economic downturns will lower xbillion considerably, these workers are insane. Post will stop for all of a week before British Mail or whoever come into existence and take over, which will signal the end of virtually the last massive union in this country and hopefully I'll never have to wait over a week for a letter again. Are we still counting number of smilees, thought we played that yesterday :finger02:
  8. Well said Gringo, apparently the strike will cover Today :finger02:, Saturday :finger02:, Monday :finger02: and Tuesday :finger02: :finger02:.. with further :finger02: 48 hour :finger02: walkouts planned until the dispute is resolved, absolutley scandelous. None of them deserve to keep their jobs if ONE single person or business goes under because of this action.
  9. Or do those union members who dont want job cuts and at same time expect salary increases honestly believe that crippling their company with walk outs is going to solve the problem? I mustve missed something but I wouldve thought that every day they dont work, their courier competitors will be making enough money to eventually ground them all out of existence. The government will only bail out the Royal Mail until they are deemed surplus to requirements, which will get closer with ever hour they arent working. I have sympathy with anybody who is being forced to lose their jobs, even if the reasons are glaringly obvious but the majority of workers who would be keeping their jobs can only achieve cutting their own throats. It's not the 1960's, Britain isnt as dependant on the service as it once was and never will be again. The speed items are passed around the country and the logistics behind it all are ridiculous but its not impossible for somebody else to do. or have I missed something? Is there the odd Billion being wasted every year elsewhere in the company that could save these peoples jobs? Dont they realise strikes that slow down everything I buy from amazon just p1ss me off
  10. YEah I agree. That was a great goal :001: Maybe he is upto the job afterall
  11. next weeks stewarding thread
  12. The number of smileys says it all IHE. How the **** can you accuse me of attention seeking after starting a topic like this. This topic is the first I think I've seriously replied to regarding the stewarding at home games or how users on this site talk about it, I'm entitled to have my say aslong as those at the heart of the mess keep putting it up for us all. The only thing thats been clear this past few months is that full stories rarely get posted on here, everybody gives their own slant on it all, its the nature of the bloody place and its hardly in the best interests of those who may end up with a day in court over matchday incidents to be saying anything online. Like I've said its upto if it stays or goes, I wont touch it myself but if you dont want talked about in here then get in touch with a mod and ask them instead of playing up the victim role anymore. edit: Only difference between my posts from now and before having a mod thing under my name is I'm using Capital letters!
  13. You know what IHE, thats the crux of the matter and the reason for my reaction, youre the one who started this topic and invited people like me to have my say... you didnt have to do that. And as you have already said, your behavior on Saturday was regrettable, perhaps not infantile but certainly brash, you were about as subtle as a burning orphanage. You have admitted that pushing things with the stewards was a mistake, well as far as I'm concerned youre pushing things on here now. Not with Scotty or CaleyD who run the site or those who support/berate you, but with yourself, youre accountable for everything thats posted on here and attempts to belittle employees of ICT or their efforts to enforce the dodgy rules will have consequences. I'll quote masell why not- "Its your prerogative to post what you like, though the opportunity to sort things out once and for all will no doubt present itself over the coming weeks through communications with the club." "The more this is discussed and tensions are raised among the sites users, the less likely it is we will see a happy ending for IHE. " You post what you like, start the topics you like but as a member of this site I have the right to comment on anything you post. If you dont want your situation discussed on here then contact a moderator and we can get every bit of it deleted, its your call.
  14. I dont have to, the board read these threads! My post was advisory rather than dictatorial, written with my clacher_holiday2 hat on rather than the mod beret (which incidentally I havent worn yet!).. I did say "Its your prerogative to post what you like". The original post by IHE is clearly attempting to gather support and to raise an issue hes directly suffered from with the club, I just dont think that now is the time or this website the place to be doing that. The questions asked in his first post will be answered shortly by the clubs actions in their dealings with him and their actions at future games. The more this is discussed and tensions are raised among the sites users, the less likely it is we will see a happy ending for IHE. Egos, injustice, stubbornness.. its all here and its a bad mix from all sides, not least from Mike Smith, who appears to be the main protagonist. Johndo switching between the Martyr/Moron/Jester roles isnt helping his situation and I worry that younger fans who dont know any better will get dragged further into this mess, which will end in tears! Best move would be for Johndo to discuss the events of the day privately with the club and supporters trust, not to keep mixing things up online!
  15. Livingston for the final perhaps?
  16. I dont want to sound unsupportive IHE but do we really need another topic on this! For me, the biggest problem between yourself and the club is that they dont get your sense of humor. The more you post about incidents happening on a match day the worse things will continue to get for you, rightly or wrongly! Its your prerogative to post what you like, though the opportunity to sort things out once and for all will no doubt present itself over the coming weeks through communications with the club. As has been posted elsewhere, an avenue has been created for those who wish to support you to do so, for now you should play their game and stop trying to antagonise Mike Smith or the stewards, or continue to take over this forum!
  17. would love to see clach play in edinburgh but will probably have to give this a miss. ive no idea if ill be in town or not, shame as the ground is about 10 minutes walking from my flat, itll be like living in the ferry again :001:
  18. To be fair, they didnt make the League Cup quarters.. been on the cards for a while. :017:
  19. We've set the lowest away attendance for each club we've played this season! Killie next :017:
  20. The ???'s his company is paying Marius, was a response to the Hagi bit in the first post.
  21. Thought the same Caley, theres legitimate ways of making your feelings known at a game, if the swapping tickets thing is true then its clearly not one of them. Not sure if I've asked this before or not.. but is all of the club/stewards behaviour towards fans legal?!
  22. Remember that game well RIG, attendance given was 18,500 but every stand (including the corner bit) was full. It was our first season in the SPL and I remember thinking then how much better being involved in an ICT game was when 20,000 fans were there! Shame they dont have any fans these days.
  23. I've no idea. Its not like Rangers or to a lesser extent Celtic games where about 1,000 of the home fans are blatantly supporting the other team, maybe Invernessians just like boring football?
  24. My boss stating her 'facts' to prove a point.. such as 25% of people in Britain having aids, Mexico being a majrity English speaking country, Ireland being north of Scotland, you cant buy TV's that have screens bigger than 13 inchs accross ... really. :017:
