... not to forget Eric Cantona had he not gone to Man Utd... I seem to recall rumour about Xausa being linked to Coventry City too when I lived there, as well as Craig Dargo. Don Cowie opted for Watford despite supposed interest from Leeds Utd and Rangers. Was John Rankin not linked to Hearts, Celtic and Rangers too??? Paul Sheerin moved to Aberdeen and Barry Robson to Dundee Utd and Celtic. Not to forget Bobby Mann who signed pre-contract for Dundee when they were an SPL team. Going onto Scottys suggestion of players ICT have helped from flagging careers, what about Paul Cherry, Craig Dargo, Darren Dodds, Stuart McCaffrey, Dennis Wyness (Twice), Russel Duncan (yes I know I dont rate him, but his career was helped by ICT).... the list goes on
  2. when do the other 98 red balloons go by?
  3. Are you absolutely certain of that? I know otherwise... Well unless he has a look alike with the same accent it was him at 9am this morning at inverness airport Definately didn't see him at the airport today, and I was there for ten hours from 0530 this morning! Not only that, but flights don't go to Glasgow from Inverness. In fact, at that time of day it'd be a flight to one of the islands or Edinburgh, and there's not many people on those at all these days.
  4. Refering to barrowload... B) :D  Now along with Duncan and Proctor, this is another ICT signing that I have never rated and I cant see that ever changing. Willing to be proven wrong though. As for Rooney, he WILL come good given a regular start alongside sanchez. They work well together and our our best link up strikers since niculae and wyness IMO
  5. I guess then, that whenever you stub your toe you dont shout out 'AH YA F***er', or when someone cuts you up on the road you dont call out 'SILLY T***' then? I say this, because the only time I ever hear anyone shout something negative is when people are frustrated enough to do just that as a knee-jerk reaction to something negative (barring of course the idiot sat a few rows behind me on saturday). Its not like the players are booed when coming out because we think it's reverse psychology! Furthermore, if the intellegence at the club to ban these chants is so great, then why the hell have they not banned chants containing the word Gypsy before a complaint was made? Surely someone with that much intellegence would forsee it? Or would it perhaps be because no-one ever gave a hoot (including those who are chanted at) because it's all part of the football atmosphere? And why only the word Gypsy? Why not chants containing references to beastiality, incest, facism, gender etc etc??? In fact why not ban all chants supporting our own team too, because ultimately our opposing fans may well complain that we're trying to boost our player to gain some sort of unfair advantage! If I wanted to be dictated to and not get involved, i'd subscribe to ESPN and watch premier league highlights with commentry. If I want to get involved, get behind my team, get banter with the opposition and chant away then I'll go to a game... its as simple as that
  6. What planet are you on? You seem to have raided the Rangers Book of Excuses for Antiesocial Beavoiur - Number 1690. and your argument to this topic is what? that chants between ourselves and those over the bridge should stop because one or two people (out of the thousands who have attended these games over the decades) have complained? unless of course you're read the IHE Book of Fishing
  7. All references to "effing gypsy bar stewards" are surely incorporated into a chant to encourage banter between supporters and create the whole matchday atmosphere? It's not as though the whole crowd stood up and shouted it as though they were about to start a riot!
  8. One thing that was shocking - which I think someone pointed out earlier - was the lady steward in question refused anyone a seat at the back of section G if they didnt have a ticket there. She said they'd be escorted out if they did, or if they used the dreaded 'G' word... I dont attend many games these days, mostly due to work commitments, but when I do I like to get involved in the chants, the banter and the general matchday experience. Unfortunately I had to take an alternate seat next to an older lady, who didnt seem too impressed I was up chanting with the rest at every opertunity. Undertand their point of view had the game been a sell out, but surely all those who usually chant could sit together and get the crowd going (a crowd with I think were indeed the 12th man yesterday - all except one bloke who critisised every touch of the ball and was getting right on my teets!!!)
  9. we've waited year for the first competetive derby and the chance to wind up those from over the bridge, only to have the atmosphere well and truely killed off because of one word??? There is, IMO, no mallace intended in any of the songs we chat - just decent football related banta. I wonder if the club put a complaint over the bridge for the way their fans chat 'sheep hugging bankers' (or words to that effect)...
  10. glory hunter In answer to Stevico's question, I think Butcher is still looking for a perfect starting 11 after having been without 2 of his backbone players so far this season - i mean, of course, rossco and dougie imrie. The only 2 occasions I dont think he's had it right this season were the derby defeat and today. He said before the airdrie match that we would struggle, and we did. He had the team spot on for 'well in mid week. And in answer to Johnboy, i thought that substitution was a weird on at the time, yet could see what he (buthcer) was doing. He brought Hayes over to the right from the left and got a bigger tagert in the box for the balls that were flying in. Zadi, i think, did not too bad when he came on and won us a free kick that could have turned into our equaliser.
  11. Just in from the game myself and thought i'd post my opinions... apologies if I cover anything already mentioned... All three of Particks goals were of our own making. There must have been 3 or 4 defenders around buchannan and none of them seemed eager to clear the line. Esson was in effect defenceless to prevent Buchannans back heel trickle of the line from 3 yards. I make no secret of the fact I have never rated Russel Duncan, and think he and David Proctor were a complete liability today. The amount of unforced errors from the pair were unbelievable, and I cant understand why Ross was crocked for Zadi and not one of these two. Duncans back header was only ever going to be a present for Buchannan to get his second. Sanchez and Rooney should have been on from the start. Foran seemed more intent on critisizing every stray cross or pass, and Barrowman only seemed to run away from the ball - I recall one moment when the ball was crossed towards him, and he did some sort of jumping piroette before seeing the ball go out for a Partick throw! Useless. Butcher got the subs right and still think he is the man for us - we are missing rossco and imrie, and could do with some experience on the park in McBain and Golabek. We also need a regular starting 11, as changing things week in week out is causing too much confusion on the park. Rooney and Sanchez were great when they cam on, and perhaps a draw would have been jutified. Unfortunately it wasnt to be
