  1. italy's friendly results aint hit the high notes either... lost to mexico and drew with switzerland... could be a looker for groups?

  3. I've not been on the forum since initially posting this thread. so apologies for no updates etc. Can I just ask you please don't 'praise me' (as it were) for coming up with the idea. The idea came about through a few people chatting on these forums and it was suggested I assist with any organising. I have already stated that any event should be in honour of Peter, and not about those who are organising or taking part. I certainly think that contacting Peter's family should be first and foremost, yet would like to have at least some information / ideas on hand to put to them. Should they wish to not allow an event, I will not persue it in any way shape of form. This also includes dedicating HM9 to Peter, as this would also go against their wishes if they decide against. I like the suggestions we have so far, so please keep them coming. I shall contact the club in due course to gather their thoughts also, and think the idea of a photo (maybe above the tunnel exit) would be a sound tribute in itself.
  4. As has been mentioned on the everest thread, someone suggested an event in tribute to the ICT fan who lost his life near the summit, wearing his ICT colours. I have suggested a 'highland march style' walk from Skye, where Peter's family live, to the stadium, as well as an 'en mass' charity walk from Bught Park to the stadium. I will be looking into this in more depth in the weeks leading up to the fixtures release. Anyone with further ideas or willing to take part, please post here.
  5. The issues we have with the longer walk are predominently time and distance. a 125+ mile route would need at least 5-7 days to complete, and with the new season quite close and no fixture list yet, it'll be difficult for anyone to secure time off work - especially as most people's colleagues will be off holidaying somewhere. But like I said, I am still willing to look into it. The issues we have / could have with the shorter walk is the council and police. I remember when we tried to organise the walk to Dingwall, there were many health and safety issues raised. What I will do, however, is persue this one in more depth over the weekend when I am off. I have started a new thread regarding the event, to keep people up to date and to not detract people away from tributes to Peter
  6. One way around that would be to get a load of us to walk 'en mass' from where the great glen way meets the Caledonian Canel near Bught Park. That'll be about 4-5 miles to the stadium. As you all know, I am more into longer distances and am willing to look into the original idea of Skye to Stadium, but perhaps a shorter walk would be ideal for all. Dressing up can be optional, but I think everyone should wear a bonnet and scalf as another mark of respect. regardless of the weather that day...
  7. I certainly think that perhaps a minute applause/silence would be fitting, especially on top of an idea posted by others to do an event in his honour. One idea is this... A 'Highland March' style walk to ICT's first home league match of the season. Obviously we have no fixtures list to go by, so my idea is to walk from Glenhinnisdal, near Uig on Skye, where he and his father lived. Walk accross Skye to Kyleakin and across that silly bridge thing. Head East to pick up Glen Affrick and head to Cannick. From there it's through Glen Urquart to Drumnadrochit to pick up the Great Glen Way to Inverness. The total distance will be around 125 miles and will be a fitting tribute to Peter. It would be great to have a good few people doing it, not only to respect Peter and his efforts, but to raise as much money as possible for OCD Action - the charity Peter was doing this for. I fear that doing it alone (or with very few) would draw attention away from Peter's honour and more toward those doing it... if that makes sense.
  8. The whole point at the moment is to practice the theroy. It took 5 games to get to the ?50, which so far is my best streek. It's looking likely that the best way to make money off this particular strategy is to limit yourself to 3 matches, bank the dosh, then start again. Think of it as the 'weakest link'... in fact, I'm going to call it 'Weakest Link Betting'.
  9. I have not read this thread yet but it was brought to my attention by BA. I would suggest a couple ideas. 1) that next years Highland March be to raise funds for the charity that this guy as raising funds for. We'll maybe get our shirts with his name rather than our own handles. 2) A mini Highland March to our first away game of the season 3) A munro, as suggested already I am more than happy to meet with anyone and discuss ideas further. obviously a ver very sad story and I pay tribute to his efforts. Anything to show respect I am up for!!!
  10. Since my last post I have only placed ?10 and have been taking a little longer to get rid of it :P ?5 was wasted on the dogs as I was bored one evening. A good couple of hours of wins and losses over a few races was a different than usual night for me. Anyway, the other ?5 has been doing not too bad for me thus far... Stake Win Odds at time of bet ?5.00 ?7.86 4/7 ?7.86 ?15.33 19/20 ?15.33 ?25.55 4/6 ?25.55 ??????? 10/11 With the above rounds of betting, I have looked at form guides as well as the odds to pick my bets more carefully, whereas before I was basing bets purely on odds. If i liked the odds, I placed the bet. Not a good way to gamble really. If the latest bet comes up, it will be the first time i have won 4 consecutive bets when testing this theory. It's keeping it going that is harder than the initial win
  11. My next available day off for a walk is wednesday 16th june. If people who may be interested could leave their names on this thread or send me a PM, I will look into a nice easy 8-10 mile day (possibly 12 :P ). If there is no interest I will simply head out on a longer walk as is the norm. It would, however, be great to have some company, and I will also keep a record of peoples' individual miles like I do for Highland March, so that you know when you reach a certain milestone.
  12. I was going to post this in the general nonsense section, but felt as it'll involve forum members, here was perhaps the best place initially. If a moderator wants to sticky it or move it, then cool... Anyway, As you will all know, I help organise and participate in the annual Highland March at the end of every season. I also enjoy walking at any time, but it has dawned on me (it's only taken the best part of 8 years) that walking alone to train for such events can be boring, despite the fantastic scenary of the local area to keep you going. Whilst on a walk today, I was thinking about Gringo Peeg Outings - a pub-crawl-esque walk along the towpaths around the west midlands organised by my old man - and thought it would be a good idea to do a similar up here, involving forum personel. The way it would work is simple... if myself or anyone else has a day off work and plans a nice walk somewhere, post it on the forum to inform people who may be interested. People can then make their own arrangements to get to the rendezvous and home again. I must admit, I prefer long walks of 15+ miles, and on occasions stretch this to 25-30 miles, but if anyone fancies joinin me or has their own outing planned, post it.
  13. I've been to a 'Motley Crue' conference. When John Major was PM... Met Jeffery Archer there too. anyway, back on topic... I had a slightly embarrasing moment with craig brewster once. (not a sentence to be taken out of context either thank you very much!!!) Granted it's not away from football, but here goes. It was at the training pitches at Fort George. My pal Colin is a huge DUFC fan and we regualrly went to the training pitches for a kick about before the players turned up. Brewster knew of me through Highland March, and ultimately asked how I was. Colin, being somehow impressed about this, asked if i knew CB. I said I'd spoken to him a few times and agreed to introduce them. I spoke to CB as anyone would normally speak, where as colin blurted out "you're my hero", followed by a few memories of CB at DUFC, shook his hand and said he'd never wash it again. For him it was excellent, for me an embarrasment (agan, not a sentence to be taken out of context)
  14. Dundee at home please... in any round. lol CALEY THISTLE CHAMPIONS, na na na na na naaa na CALEY THISTLE CHAMPIONS, na na na na na naaa na :D :D :D :D :D
  15. Some may remember my post about starting the season with just ?5 and watching it accumilate over the course and see how much you can win. I decided to test the theory through pre-season using the left over funds (?20) in my william hill account... So far, I'm not doing too well... I lost my first bet at 2/1, whilst at the same time winning 13.78 on the dogs that same evening. I decided to not dive into the ?10 left originally, and placed the full 13.78 onto a 5/6 shot. It won. ?25.26 return. That therefore went onto another match at 10/11. My bet looked dead at 85 minutes with the score 0-0, but my outfit went 1-0 up on 86. Come the 87th minute, it was 1-1 and thats how it stayed :D Starting again, I place ?5 of the 10 remaining on an odds on 7/10 which came up, putting me on ?8.50. It came to pass that this was not to be either and thus I have just put my last ?5 on a 8/13 shot - you may remember I said you could win ?97m in a 36 game season by using this odds throughout - it also lost. 1-1 draw :) So, after ?20 played, I could have walked with nearly ?50. Not much I know, but I will continue to test the theory throughout pre-season. It'll keep me occupied through pre-season and interested in other matches during world cup etc.
  16. failed again by heading slightly off-topic too :D When are our pre-season fictures due to be announced? I think any sort of get together has to incorporate 'Caley Thistle Champions' chanting throughout whatever game is next - even if its HFL dross.
  17. congrats from the jnr household :D
  18. Cracking idea Alex! Almost out the question for Myself, MrsJnr, Gringo and MrsGringo (aka Dozza) for the dates mentioned as we're all off on holiday at the end of June for a week :( Can there be a second Internutters bash during ICT's pe-season friendlies to accommodate?
  19. Scott Arfield has signed from Falkirk to Hudersfield for ?400,000 increasing to ?600,000 when he reaches a certain number of appearences. Is he really that much better than the majority of our squad? Does the fact he's only 21 make the price more acceptable, or indeed the buying out of the remainder of his 5-year contract? I'm wondering if anyones opinions have changed about our own players worth now....
  20. Clacher, I sense you feel abit under appreciated for your efforts in getting the table updated. I for one would like to apologise if I have made/make you feel this way but I can assure you your effort is indeed appreciated and I thank you. I have trouble knowing how to get the odds pasted on a thread, and as you had updated the table more often than most, i presumed, as other have done, that you had perhaps taken control of overseeing it. As others have said, too many fingers in the pie etc. Yes, the money in previous seasons has been a bonus, and many thanks to CanadaBob for generously putting forward that dosh. But there was also money at stake this year, albeit alot less, but that's certainly not why I played this game all season (I emphasize the word game :) ) I have used the betting forum as a way to generate banta amongst a few fellow posters. I remember one match that my old man called a home win when i called draw on the same match, and a last minute equaliser saw me call him up and let him know as such. At no point did the thought of cash cross my mind in those moments! And what of the banta when Gringo started to post Dundee wins and ultimately lost 99% of the time! There is no prize money in the NPL either, and I play that, again, for the same reasons of banta and family rivalries. I certainly hope NAPS carries on next season as I have enjoyed it. Money or no money
  21. Oh, and TBB, I see what you did there - all 'thistle'... clever. But NOOOOOOO
  22. Oh, and as I wasn't appointed Fitness Coach after L-G's nomination, I'd like to also be considered in a strike partnership with Wyness101 (the name excluding number says it all). Failing a starting place, I'd make a fantastic 'solkjaer-esque' super sub :D
  23. BA for goalkeeper. I've seen him play and he's half decent. Likes to think he's esson and rarely plays like ridgers. I'd have BigStu at centre back! he's wasted on the bench (and alcohol) and his presence is sure to feck up the likes of ronaldo and messi...
  24. 5th then... not bad. pretty please with that. been near the top most of the season which is nice more of the same next year. :D
