  1. I too am in agreement in most respects with you Wanderer but I cannot forsee a 50/50 split ever being sanctioned by the powers that be. They would find some way of ensuring the ' big club' would get the lion's share of space allocated to them.
  2. The old pedescope, didn't actually measure the feet it was an xray showing the positions of the bones of the foot inside the shoe. I think it was towards the end of the fifties that realisation came that the operator or fitter was being bombarded with radiation, so in consequence it was banned from use.
  3. Hope you paid the royalty on the photo IHE, I see it says on the postcard real photograph and copyright. I only went up there once, that was enough.
  4. Reading the bottom line brought back memories of the Telegram Boys during world war 2, I remember living up in Thurso in 1944 that when delivered by the boys Most families opened them with fear and trepidation in case it was from the war office with notice of loss of a loved one. The boys would stand at the door with head bowed after asking if there would be a reply and waited for an answer then cycle off back to the telegraph office when they got their answer. Lagavulin still going strong, bit more than 23/- per gallon now though.
  5. Thanks CB used to be a great place to play war games or cowboys with our knobbly sticks for guns and a great deal of imagination!
  6. Definitely, used to love it and if all the balls got burst, as did happen in my early years, we invented a game using sticks, a piece of flat wood and belted it just like ice hockey on tar. Any from four in number upwards were the sides and the more that played the more the goals were moved back.. Who needed play stations in them days.......... Yeah and you would sometimes hear a shout of car coming and the game would be held up till the car went past.
  7. Whin Park ? I've never heard of it but there was a bit of wasteland covered in whins along from the electric burn so maybe that is it ?
  8. The canal on the right the Ness on the left surely it must be an extension of the Islands, at the end of what we used to call the electric burn ? Big changes there if it is !
  9. Jim you are one up on Scarlet this time it was Dick Emery......Benny Hill was the one that the show finished with him being chased all over a park by a bunch of irate women.
