I don't think anything has changed, really. Longer deals tend to be offered to players who came in on short contracts and earned them...and that still appears to be the case. It's just that the turnover hasn't been that high the last few seasons and we've been more used to seeing extensions than new signings. There's also this "options" thing, which I don't like the phrasing of....especially when it's the club who holds the option. Instead of 1 year + 1 year option to extend, it really should be 2 years with option to break after 1 year. I don't believe there is any chance in a top six finish which is highly disappointing particularly after recent seasons, I still think we have enough to avoid relegation and hopeful finish above County.

Riordan, really??? I am starting to worry about Yogi's scouting network whatever you thought about Butcher he could unearth (or his management team) some gems. Riordan does seem to be scraping the barrel.

We finished last in the development league, how many youngsters do we have that are even close to SPL standard aport from those already in the squad?

My big worry is that if we don't have cash to spend on strengthening the squad after a hugely successful season what will happen if we have a mediocre one? Perhaps the board are keeping back some cash to compensate for the possibility of this happening. While not trying to take the shine of last season we were very lucky with injuries and operating with a small squad there is always the danger of a bad season coming along.

While i do see where you are coming from in a lot of that post I think calling Yogi "lucky" is a bit harsh. At the end of the day whatever team you inherit you need to get the best out of them, keep team spirits up and get them winning games. Our best season to date proved he did that. I also have concerns for this season but I also had them for last season, lets hope we are pleasantly surprised once again.

I really struggle to understand why some folk still don't see the remarkable achievements of ICT as a ringing endorsement of how successful the merger has been for football in Inverness. In reference to IHE's post regarding it is not just the "Rebels" but their offsprings I find that really sad that some youngsters are missing out on the greatest ever time in the Highlands football history due to their parents stance on what happened over 20 years ago. In answer to the posters original question I don't think that they feel any different and probably never will, but then again thats their choice.

While recognising his faults, which I think Tommy Cummings summed up well in his recent interview, I don't believe we would be in Europe and in the cup final this weekend without the fine work he did. Unfortunately the manner of his leaving overshadows that.
