  1. I'm so pleased for Wales. They deserved that win. Yes, they got a couple of fortunate refereeing decisions, but I don't grudge them that. Wonderful goals, worthy of winning any match. And, another few thousand in our coffers Can't be bad!
  2. Adam Rooney scored a late penalty for Aberdeen in their 3-1 win in the Uefa 1st qualifying round tie against Fola Esch last night(30 Jun).
  3. He looked a bit down in the mouth when Hungary scored their equaliser....
  4. I too will be in Inverness for that game. I'm up there with 5 golfing pals from 24 to 28 Aug. I've been anxiously awaiting the fixture list for weeks now, just hoping for a home game so that we can boost the crowd by 6. Now all I need to do is book a golf course for the Saturday morning. Anyone know what Torvean is like these days? I haven't played it since I was in my teens, when it was still only 9 holes.
  5. I seem to remember a Cambridge fan coming on our forum when we signed Hughes saying how good he was and how sorry he was to see him leave Cambridge. Maybe he has got something that we didn't spot? Anyway, time will tell.
  6. If he turns out to be anywhere as good as our last signing from Newport, Gary Warren, he'll do for me!
  7. Bit off topic but reading that these cars were owned by a Dr Kerr, it reminded me that, in my youth, a Dr Kerr lived in a very imposing house on high ground at the junction of Culduthel Road and Old Edinburgh road, (just at the top of the hill at the top of Castle Street). I remember it because it had a cannon in its garden pointing roughly in the direction of the castle. Anyone else recall this house? Just wondered if it might be the same family of Kerrs.
  8. Sun 5 Jun 2016 Dani Sanchez scores his first goal for his new Finnish club, FC Jazz, in a 1-1 draw at Grifk Grankulla.
  9. Murray's performances at Roland Garros these past two weeks have been like the fabled 'curate's egg', ranging from abysmal to brilliant, sometimes in the same match. Yesterday, against the champion, Warinka, he was at his brilliant best I'm pleased to say, and it was a real pleasure to watch him win a match of excellent quality, with something to spare. I hope he has left something in the tank for the final tomorrow. Good luck Andy.
  10. Sad to see the passing of Muhammad Ali. We all tend to use the word 'legend' too easily these days, but few, if any, would argue against Ali being deserving of that tag. A man of great ability, humour, compassion, and, above all, principle. RIP
  11. My next door neighbour is a true Wimbledon fan as well. He too has watched them climb back up the leagues from obscurity to where they have now reached. He even drove up to Accrington the other day for their play off semi final, second leg, arriving back down here at 3.30am, when he and his wife were flying off on holiday only 4 hours later!. You can imagine how pleased she was about that!. I get a lot of enjoyment out of seeing his obvious happiness. It sort of reminds me of our journey up through the leagues. I'm sure Wimbledon's first match against MK Dons next season will be be quite emotionally charged. Anyway I know who I'll be rooting for.
  12. Great to read all the positive comments on here now that the appointment has been made. I think there is a sense of relief all round that the decision has been made. Although maybe not everybody's first choice, I think we can all understand the reasons why Richie got the job. And, to a man, I'm confident that all the fans will give him our full support. Like many others have said, I too am looking forward to the new season with a fair amount of optimism. Onwards and upwards!
  13. Well, I suppose that was not really a surprise. The 'cheap' option some would say, but I wish him well. Four year contract shows a lot of faith from the board. Wonder if he'll keep Rice as his assistant? Good luck Richie.
  14. Easier win for Murray today against a big serving, dangerous opponent.. I see Nadal has pulled out, making it even easier for Djokovic to reach final. Pity he wasn't in Murray's half of the draw. I have to admit that I've never been a Nadal fan. He has got away with murder through the years with his blatant time wasting and gamesmanship. No referee, particularly in Europe, seemed strong enough to take him on.
  15. Darren Dods at Brechin
  16. 25 May Toby Agdestein, coming on as a sub, scored a late equaliser for Haugesund in a Norwegian Cup match at Bodo. Match finished 2-2, went to extra time and finished 3-3. Haugesund lost on penalties (Agdestein scoring one of these as well).
  17. Andy Murray has just scraped through another 5-setter to reach the 3rd round. Those two matches were against opponents who were not supposed to give him any difficulty. At times in the 2nd and 3rd sets today, especially when he lost 8 straight games, he looked really lost, and on the way out. Thankfully he pulled himself together. Let's hope he can recapture his excellent form on clay which saw him reach the Spanish final and win in Rome recently. He'll need to, as the matches will only get tougher from now on. Good luck Andy.
  18. Now get Meekings back to central defence alongside Warren, and we have a decent look about our defence!
  19. Great news. Good to see that the board, if not the ex manager, have listened to the fans.
  20. Sad, but not unexpected. Hope he gets another club soon.
  21. The more I think about it, that is quite a display of confidence in the ICT board that OFW has displayed. To rejoin a managerless club, at this stage of the season, leads me to think that quite an incentive must have been offered. Maybe a chunk of the Euro 2016 money will be going straight to OFW. I have no problem if that is the case, as we would not have got it anyway if he had not re-signed. As I said earlier, good man Owain. Let us hope that his example spurs on a few more to put pen to paper!
  22. A bit of good news at last. Just in time to pick up Euro 2016 bonus too. Good man Owain.
  23. Now getting ready to watch Crystal Palace turn over Man Utd. Hope Mike (Eagle for Caley) has as good a day at Wembley today as he and I had at Hampden a year ago. Come on the Eagles!
  24. Agee 100% with all of that. What a chance we threw away of reaching another final, with a good chance of winning it too, especially as I see Hibs, however rank they've been recently, have beaten Sevco today! Good for them.
  25. As far as I can see, he knew what the budget was. Its not that he had no money to spend, more that he spent it unwisely, flooding the squad with mainly mediocre midfielders when our main requirement was up front. Apart from Storey (on loan) he signed no one of any real quality up front. Coupled with his ridiculous and stubborn stance re Raven, this was always going to end in tears. I thank him for being in charge, and rightly being praised, for giving us our best season in our short history, but I can't honestly say I'm sad to see him go. Lets look to the future with optimism!
