  1. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32112666 So John Barnes is playing the race card. Apparently his revolutionary 4-2-2-2 formation, abysmal signings, losing the dressing room, and getting knocked out of the Scottish Cup by (then) lowly Inverness, aren't the reason his managerial career hit the buffers, it's institutional racism. Do me a favour luv!
  2. It's a bit unedifying to see a club run up almost £30,000,000 of debts, go into admin, stiff their creditors, then come straight back to the top league one year later and start using their chequebook to lure other teams players. Hey ho, cheats never win eh?
  3. On a side note, when it comes to maximizing revenue, couldn't we go down the English League Cup semi route, i.e. 2 legs home and away? That's as neutral as you can get, and brings in more cash. A sell out Celtic Park, and a sell out TCS. Plus double the TV revenue. Just an idea!
  4. Hopefully Gary Warren being played further forward. I can see him being a beast in midfield.
  5. You have to question why they went out and paid a transfer fee for a player coming to the end of his contract, then just stuck him in the reserves. Barmy decision. He was on red hot form when he arrived, now he'll probably need a run of games just to get match fit.
  6. When are we going to get rid of these shower of b*****s running our game? Choosing Edinburgh as a 'neutral' venue for Hearts 2 years in a row. Now 2 Sunday midday kickoffs in a row for travelling northern fans. Whether it's incompetence, bias or spite, enough is enough.
  7. It's not just an affront to sporting integrity, it actually ruins a game. Both Chelsea and PSG have squads full of wonderful footballers, but their encounter on Tuesday night was almost unwatchable because of the relentless cheating and anti-football. Quite frankly, I'd rather watch The Only Way is Essex with the other half than that kind of tosh. If it gets any worse, casual TV fans will start tuning out.
  8. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31803183 Yogi Hughes not the only one calling out United for their cheating.
  9. It's time to stop talking about a 4G pitch and actually invest in one for next season. It would pay for itself. - Year long revenue stream from hiring it to the public - No need to hire alternative venues for training, U20 or Youth games - No Games cancelled due to frozen or waterlogged pitches
  10. Places more likely to be overcrowded than a Scottish football match... - Scotty and the Skyhooks at The Ironworks - Johnny Foxes on a Saturday night - The Eastgate Centre on Black Friday - The Wines and Spirits aisle at Tesco Extra I don't think we have much to worry about!

  12. He's an extremely poor mans Diego Costa.
  13. Looks like we might have to change the title to 'the official Elgin City promotion thread'.
  14. Looking at the current United starting eleven, the kinds of antics being described by returning spectators should have been predictable. The flair players have gone, and all that remain are a team of hatchet men. The continual selection of Butcher ahead of Rankin belies the media myth of McNamara's 'football philosophy'. I don't think I've ever watched a United game where Paul Paton didn't feign serious injury at some point to try to get an opponent sent off. Playing the hardman one minute, rolling around holding his face the next. It's pretty ironic really. Only a year ago after deservedly knocking them out of the league cup they were denouncing us as a team of hammer throwers. How the tables have turned.
  15. What a waste, European football there for the taking.
  16. Shades of that home game against United 2 years ago where a win would guarantee European football. We dominated the game, should've buried 3 or 4 easy chances, conceded a soft goal against the run of play, and lost against a poor poor side. Same script.
  17. The final piece of the jigsaw is getting Deano and Esson to play like an extra outfield player, like Manuel Neuer, then we've cracked it!

  19. Dave the Rave's having an excellent season. One below par performance against tricky attacking players and you want to punt him, glad you're not my manager!
  20. Over the piece Inverness probably edged it, but can't complain too much about the result. There was an element of good fortune for 2 of Killies goals, but we can't moan too much, they looked like a pretty decent team, especially going forward. The first came from a shot which took a huge deflection straight into the path of a Killie striker. The second was a bit of poor decision making from Esson. We had a goal kick deep in injury time. He played a hospital pass out to Nick Ross which resulted in a turnover of possession and a free kick to Killie - which they scored from. Had he just gone long chances are the ref would've blown for half time. Fair enough he's probably still rusty from lack of first team football, but he'll need to step up his game if he wants to keep his place when Deano recovers. On another day we would've won by a couple of goals, but at least United lost again, so it's a point gained over them.
  21. It'll be pretty hard to fit that into a song.
  22. That's only one possible inaccuracy. There is also the assumption that each step is an accurate yard which I often doubt. The 10 yard rule must be one of the most poorly observed in football by referees. It ikrs me somewhat that they spray a straight line. Surely the line should be curved?
  23. There's probably some kind of clause that we get an extra fee if he starts so many games.
  24. Their presence might not be good for ICT, but it's good for the local economy. To take just one example, I'd assume that the Kingsmills Hotel must be making an absolute fortune from away teams staying there the night before County matches.
  25. Is it possible that switching Watkins for McKay has actually made us a better team?
