🏆KDM TROPHY FINAL v Raith Rovers
Watching on tv, I felt we showed them too much respect early on and struggled to settle. Credit to Alfie Stewart for redeeming himself after his slackness contributed to Raith’s goal. A first half of two halves. Raith bossed the early stages but we’ve grown into it and finished the half on top. All to play for, but we need to cut out the slack passes.

Todays Games
In the play offs, it’s two semis then a final. 9th plays 4th with the 9th placed team at home in the second league. 2nd plays 3rd with the 2nd placed team at home in the second leg. In the final, the winner of the semi involving the 9th placed team is at home in the second leg.

2025/26 League Position Poll
I’ve found the thread from the summer. I was wrong in my recollection: the majority did think we’d win the league but a sizeable minority, myself included, had us in a play off place.

Scott Kellacher: Yay or Nay 🤔🤔?
In my opinion he definitely should be leading us next season, regardless of whether we are in the Championship or League 1. One thing none of us are privy to is what players may have been on the bench due to carrying knocks so rightly not being risked from the start. When Liam Sole missed the games prior to his suspension we didn’t know at the time it was due to injury. There was a thread at the start of the season where we all said where we expected to finish the season. I don’t recall many saying we’d win the league, which shows how our expectations have grown over the course of the season. However, as noted above it’s what the owner thinks that will count.

Boo-ing Jock-git-land
Our record in friendlies is horrific so it was no great surprise to me that we lost to Japan and we’ll probably lose tonight as well. Clarke has got us to three major tournaments, which his predecessors failed to do over many years, and he may be the first to get us beyond the group stages: we’ll know that in a few weeks time. For me, this week is more about the squad bonding than anything else. The time for judgement is once we know how we’ve done in the World Cup itself. The problem I see going forward is who would want to take the role on anyway.

Ross County Down ( Snigger )
County looking increasingly likely to finish 9th or 10th, as they are 7 off Ayr in 8th who have played a game less. Airdrie are bottom, 1 point behind with a game in hand. Hopefully we settle down and secure the title as a play off against County would not do my blood pressure any good 😂😂

QotS under the lights tonight
I went to make the fire up, having given up on any hope in this, and sat down to find that had happened! No doubt not the last twist or turn in this title race!

QotS under the lights tonight
Stenny 2 up. They have Hamilton next Saturday so could be 4 points ahead by the time we play them, albeit we will have a game in hand.

He’s not in the squad for their friendly against Malawi today. The Argentina game is at 0015 our time on Wednesday.

QotS under the lights tonight
Can’t really add anything to what’s been said. Disappointing performance and result in front of our biggest crowd of the season. Another case of what might have been, but I feared the worst after our near misses early in the first half and their keeper had a good game.

Highland League Players
I’m sure there are some that could step up to a higher level but, like Alonge, it may take them time to become regular starters. A look at the HL scoring charts (copied below for information) shows a few players who clearly have an eye for goal, but against lower quality defenders and goalkeepers. However, many HL players probably want to play part time and retain full time jobs outside football, so won’t be tempted by a full time playing offer. We’ve seen how we can slip up to HL clubs in the North of Scotland Cup when we generally play a younger team and players needing game time. Forres, one of the poorer HL teams knocked us out this season. It is good that we are looking to keep our options open. This bit is copied from another Forum: TOP SCORERS (ALL COMPETITIONS)... 25 - Miller Keir (Turriff United) 23 - James Anderson (Clachnacuddin/Brora Rangers), Calum Frame (Forres Mechanics), Grady McGrath (Brechin City) 19 - Troy Cooper (Clachnacuddin), Shane Sutherland (Brora Rangers) 18 - Scott Barbour (Fraserburgh), Rory McAllister (Formartine United), Josh Peters (Buckie Thistle) 14 - Lyall Keir (Buckie Thistle) 13 - Ben Barron (Nairn County), Marc Macgregor (Wick Academy) 12 - Tony Dingwall (Brora Rangers), Jordan Macrae (Brora Rangers/Clachnacuddin) 11 - Connor Bunce (Brora Rangers), Mitchell Findlay (Brechin City), Angus Grant (Huntly), Hamish Ritchie (Formartine United), Sam Robertson (Huntly) 10 - Fergus Alberts (Deveronvale), Paul Brindle (Nairn County), Liam Duell (Banks O' Dee), Michael Gilmour (Banks O' Dee), Darryl McHardy (Buckie Thistle), Shaun Morrison (Strathspey Thistle), Sam Pugh (Banks O' Dee), Mitch Taylor (Brechin City), Jake Thomson (Rothes)

Alloa v Caley Jags away March2026
It’s not today’s game that’s kept it tight at the top: 2 home wins and 2 away draws with Alloa is what we could realistically expect (maybe better than we could expect) given how we’ve struggled against them in recent seasons. Drawing twice with Cove and twice with Kelty, along with only getting one point out of nine so far against Stenny is where we’ve let ourselves down. But we remain top and it is in our own hands. Our next two league games, home to Queens and away to Stenny are now massive in terms of our season. Promotion was the target, but we don’t want to have to try to achieve that through the play offs.

Alloa v Caley Jags away March2026
Every game is a cup final now, and I expect them all to be tough. We’ve often struggled against Alloa and we only drew away to them in November. I’d take a scrappy one goal win any day!

Peterhead @ Home March17th2026
Watching it back, regardless of the offside debate, Munro should have been able to get the ball. Fortunately it didn’t affect the outcome.

Peterhead @ Home March17th2026
A much better performance than Saturday and we were on top for the bulk of the game with three well taken goals. The officials were unbelievable in the second half: Huisdean has summed up the farcical decision to allow the Peterhead “goal” but credit to the players for knuckling down again afterwards. There were also a couple of penalty shouts but I’d need to see them again. We needed that tonight and now we need to build on it on Saturday.

ICT vs Cove
That was very disappointing. We started fast and positively but didn’t manage to maintain the momentum. Two goals disallowed (both rightly I think) for offside in the first seven minutes must be a record! Stewart took his goal well and we should have had the game won by half time against a very poor Cove team. The second half was very poor by both teams and the longer it stayed 1-0 the more encouraged Cove seemed. Despite not really looking like getting a second (our best chance was when Alonge was wrongly ruled offside with the goal beckoning: he was onside, Mckay had been offside but was not interfering with play) we should still have seen the game out but gave up possession cheaply too often, and then got the sucker punch of their goalie scoring a header from a corner. Disappointing and the boos were unjustified but we now need to make sure we win on Tuesday and establish a little daylight at the top. I think it’s time to start Longstaff as our deliveries into the box today were poor, too often hitting the first defender or going straight out.

Scotland's Shame 2026
A much smaller scale but potentially a fatal incident was the stoning of the Stenhousemuir Supporters Bus by a couple of kids in Dumfries on Saturday. The footage has circulated subsequently and they’ve been arrested.

I’ve just watched it back, but only on my phone. It looked very tight but if you are convinced he was on side I take back my complaint from last night.

Montrose @ home March2026
Today could turn out to be a massive day in the title race. From looking like we’d end up two points behind Stenny to end up two ahead with a game in hand must give the squad confidence and momentum. I thought we played some good stuff in the first half but the Montrose goalkeeper pulled off several saves to keep the score down. I need to see it but am sure the Montrose break that led to the penalty should have been pulled up for offside but I may be wrong. The substitutions made a difference, with the pass from Wotherspoon to Macleod in the build up to the second goal being immense. Longstaff also made a difference. Credit to Kell for hooking Brannon at half time to save him from the risk of getting another booking. It was very nervy until Alonge’s calm finish for the third. He was deservedly the Man of the Match and Billy Mckay described him as the coolest guy in Scotland during the post match interviews in Bar 94. Maybe not pretty at times in the second half, but job done.
