Certainly looks like it and he seems a yard faster too. If he keeps this going he will be the player he was several years ago!

Fair enough. I thought we looked livelier and tried to capitalise on Samuels’ pace which we didn’t do at all in the first half. After the changes, on a different day Mckay could have had a hat trick whilst a great save by the ‘keeper stopped Doran getting his hat trick. I hope we are still rusty and using the early group games to add sharpness and that we hit the ground running in the league. It could be worse. Look what happened to Dundee United, St Johnstone and St Mirren. We need to focus on getting out of this group as we know from last season that even just making the first knock out round is worth £50k.

Off topic by Akinyemni has left Ayr which ought to weaken them.

Underwhelmed by that. We always tried to play it out from the back, rarely with success. The early goal, a great finish by Doran, should have been a springboard but after his second goal, also a good finish, we did not deserve to be two up at half time. Bonnyrigg had a goal disallowed for a foul in the box, with a different ref they could have had a penalty, and MacKay had to race out of his box at one point to prevent a goal. I actually thought we were better in the second half as we moved the ball faster at times, but we couldn’t finish the chances we created and I couldn’t grudge the late goal. Of the new players, Brooks was quiet, and was playing wide left before being subbed. Gilmour could become an asset, but got an unnecessary booking. Davidson was trying to get forward after he came on and linked with Shaw a few times. I will give them the benefit of the doubt as they’ve only been back for two weeks but that was a poor performance. Doran the stand out, with Shaw looked the best of the rest. Tongue in cheek, maybe we’d have done better if we played hoofball!! What sparked the mini brawl at half time. Did someone say something to Samuels?

Looking forward to this and seeing a new opponent. It will be interesting to see how we line up as I suspect we will still be using today and Tuesday to get as many players as possible game time. Hopefully all the new signings feature.

  10. Lafferty joining Johnstone Burgh on a reputed £1600 per week.
  11. Not many seconds between Brooks’ two goals! A record for a player for us?
  12. From what I can tell, three squad members have not appeared so far so presumably have injuries: Max Ram, Lewis Hyde and Calum Mackay. Anyone know anything?
  13. Sorry Tm4tj I’m away on business so didn’t make the game tonight. Hopefully someone can tell us a bit about how we did.
  14. He’s got a good left hook by all accounts!
  15. Striker Aaron Nicolson has joined Nairn after being released by us at the end of the season. He was on of the youth team players who played in the cup tie at Hamilton.

  18. With them being at a low level, he’s maybe got an agreement that they won’t stand in his way if a better team comes in for him. That’s if it is him of course. The link I posted in the squad update thread says he’s a midfielder but the number 18 was a striker yesterday.
  19. For completeness our formations: First half: Ridgers Davidson Devine Delaney Harper Welsh Gilmour Hennem Thomson Doran Samuels with Samuels and Hennem switching roles at times. Second half: MacKay Carson Duffy Strachan Nicolson Shaw MacGregor Bray Cairns Mckay Trialist with Shaw and Cairns switching part way through the half and Carson and Bray also switching. Nixon then came on for Bray at right back. Ram did not feature. I assume he’s still with us but he must still be carrying his injury from last season.
  20. Not sure if it’s your birthday Jock but it’s great that you are going strong! Keep it up!!
  21. I should also mention that Doran had a good game. He was positive and seemed more confident in his pace, taking defenders on a couple of times whilst his lob was a cool finish.
  22. Found this link which shows his career history bouncing around lower league clubs: https://www.aylesburyunitedarchive.com/player/harry-lodovica
  23. Yes in the first half. Carson and Nicolson were full backs after the break but Carson moved into midfield with Bray at right back prior to Bray being replaced by Nixon late on. Samuels started as striker but he and Hennem were swapping roles at times in the first half. Hennem started wide right. Doran was on the left with Thomson no 10. After the break, we were mainly 4 4 2 with Mckay and the trialist up front and Shaw and Cairns wide. Shaw started on the right with Cairns on the left but they switched part was through the half. All the youngsters acquitted themselves well.
  24. From the interview, is he no longer with us?
  25. Apologies if I was disrespectful in any way to the player. I was typing quickly whilst at the match so if I failed to be politically correct it was an oversight.
