As I've said before, only the Scottish football authorities could dream up such a skewed play off system.

Would be interesting to know whether a 3rd / 4th placed Championship team has actually achieved promotion?

    They haven’t done

Can we cut out the personal stuff and get this back on topic please?

Sometimes its good to point out the critics as they drain the positivity out of the true supporter

We have had a good season

Four more games to make it a great one

I don't think there has been a rush of criticism for 'looking tired' or whatever,  maybe one poster stated this, but you seem to have commented on it a couple of times.

There have been comments, correctly stating that it was perhaps lacklustre, poor at times, and maybe they were at times playing within themselves.

All of the above may have been true from various viewpoints but are not necessarily seen as criticism.

Looking uninterested or in holiday mode, if it were true would be more serious accusations but whether or not this was the case is anyone's guess.

The number of games played recently in quick succession is more of a factor than the overall 50 games this season, but as they are professional athletes who by now won't be training very hard between games it should just be a case of injury management. It is up to the coaching staff, again professional's, to look after this with regards to the upcoming games.

So it's into the ice baths again and some Pilates for a few days then game faces on for Tuesday where we will be facing a stronger team than Ayr United at home.

Hopefully the performance is up a notch or two...

    Seriously

It really must hurt you to give the team praise

Certainly something holding you back from giving a bit of praise, however yes it wasn’t a great silky performance yesterday but it got the job done

It was an excellent performance on Tuesday night. It’s a two legged game and the result over the two legs is all that matters.

But if you never venture to away games and just want to be part of the Caledonian Stadium Critics then fill your boots.

For those criticising the team for looking tired, uninterested or 'in holiday mode', bear in mind that yesterday was the fiftieth competitive game of the season for our small squad now coming at two a week.

The remarkable thing is not that they look a bit fatigued but that they are still in the hunt at all and continue to be so. We should be proud of them all.

    100% spot on

    Well said

You could tell from some of the moves Ayr made, to get the ball quickly up the park - they have practised these in training, the way everyone involved knows what is coming and where to run.

Seldom do you see the same coherent plays from us - what do we work on in training??

Who is progressing to the next round?

I didn't get the Impression that anyone was 'in holiday mode' but a few not unexpectedly, looked tired and jaded and were, sensibly in my view, not expending energy unnecessarily.

The only important thing today was to get the job done and progress to the next stage which we did reasonably comfortably in the end.

Sensible post unlike some others who just criticise for the sake of it.

We finished third in league reached a Scottish cup semi final and have now reached semi final of play offs

The critics really need to have a word with themselves.

What !!  Ffs   we were Shyte.   Looked second best to Ayr all afternoon.    Attitude was lazy and so many of our players looked like they were on holiday mode,  That was eye torture and the goal must have been our only attempt on goal in the second half.    If we have any aspirations to progress in this play off the players and management need to have a big long look at

Think you are being harsh tie was won over two games

Not saying were screwed, but I don't think we'll stand a chance against United the way we played tonight. Our only hope is that they play as awfully as they did in the Cup...

We were obvously saving a wee bit in the tank for the the next game

    We will be fine

Job done at Ayr it was always about game management today

Fckin hell hope wer not depending on selling some of our contracted players be lucky to sell them at the car boot sale!

I think you may well be surprised mate

Some of our players will be attracting interest from other clubs.

  11. The problem we will have is keeping some of the current players if offers come in for them .

If we get promoted then that will help in two ways , club will get more income and players will want to ply their trade in the top league.

However if we stay in the Championship club will be open to decent offers and may cash in on some other players, we already know Polly is away and some think it’s a done deal that Chalmers is away as both are out of contract.

Its the contracted players that’s the problem or the answer in terms of potential income into the club.

Im sure the club would consider offers for some of our players who maybe attracting interest from other clubs and decide to get some much needed money into the coffers.

So in reality we could be looking at maybe 5/6 players from our starting 11 against Ayr Utd leaving no matter whether they are contracted to the club or not if offers come in for them.

Look at the fact of Oakley moving as we cashed in before we didn’t get anything for him. This looks like our model at present as Robbo has indicated that he is trying to get some of players who are here for next season to extend their contracts. That doesn’t mean they will stay it just means we can ask for more transfer fee. We have extended Ridgers contract already.

As Kingsmills said previously we really need promotion this season or I feel we will cash in on offers cut our cloth accordingly and promote the youngsters next season.

We could be in for a choppy ride over next few seasons buckle up folks.

Lets just win the playoffs and get promoted ??

    Sorted.

Can see why McCall was cheesed off for the 2nd. Hopefully that's one we were owed, and not one we are going to pay for.

Think we are forgetting the far side linesman had a far better view than anyone and he chose not to raise his flag. Think its cloae but cant be sure its offside.regardles sublime finish.

Good to see the big yins goal drought has finally ended, its been a while , also pleasing to see Trafford has 2 goals to his name as well.

Great things are expected on Saturday!!

Has been a while but two cracking goals to get his 16th of season

Only 4 championship players with more goals in all competitions than our big traffic cone or donkey as some like to call him ?

Decent season for Big Jordan White imo.

  13. Great result and pleasing to get 3 goals and a two goal cushion to take into second leg.

Very good performances from Trafford and White who seem to get lots of critics on here, but for those of us who were there last night it would only be plaudits

Stand  out performances from both players . Ridgers also made some very good saves but it would have been an injustice if we hadn’t taken a two goal lead  back home as we were by far the better team overall.

Big White showed he can take pens in a pressure situation as he has now done it in the shoot out v Ross County and last night in another . This was as good a pen as you will see in another pressure situation and as Meatloaf would say

‘Two out of three ain’t bad’

Trafford was superb in the middle of the pitch and scored a great header too. It was a great old fashioned cup tie atmosphere and our fans added to this by really getting behind the team.

One of the best games of the season imo. It was up there with Tannadice in the cup game and as we have proved by winning the away league ,the away games are where we seem to galvanise our best performances.as we seem to be at our best away from home, Maybe it’s becuse teams have to come out against us more away from home but sit in at home .

We will see if this is the case on Saturday as Ayr will have to give it a real go so we should win again .or maybe the backing of the fans way from home helps too.

I have a feeling it’s a bit of both and I’m so glad I can manage to get to most games County away in all games have been great performance

Whi can forget coming back from three goals down at Palmerston , or the last gasp goal at Tannadice and last night to add to the list .

This squad for all its limitations has a grit and determination about it and as it stands to be on the cusp of a playoff semi final , finish third in league and be in Scottish Cup semi final all adds up to a very good season.

John Robertson deserves a lot of praise and if we go up he is my manager of the season.

No matters what happens in next few weeks The management and team are worthy of praise as we have over achieved  when you look at budgets as by all accounts County .Arabs. Partick,Falkirk and Dunfermline all had bigger budgets than ourselves .

Well done to the team this morning and let’s hope we all get behind them on Saturday to get us over the line to playoff semi finals.

  14. Having read all the posts I can see a wide view span of opinions which is normal.

My view is we were not great but their second goal was clear handball and should have been a foul and no goal.

That leaves one goal between the teams , but the constant negativity of some fans berating the whole team or certain players is disappointing.

We have reached the semi finals of the Scottish Cup, we are in the playoffs 6 games away from a return to The Premiership, Yet some people are spouting rubbish about us not turning up for games and never having a chance of beating Utd and Ayr , we have proved we can do this so why the negativity?

We top the away league in The Championship but we have a poorer points total from our home games, Robbo tried to point out this earlier in the season too, but was berated by many on here.as he asked for same support at home as away.

The point still stands we need to support our team at home like we do away. thats why I think the guys and girls that go to away games havs a far more balanced view of the team and appreciate the efforts made to get us to where we are, going into the last two games of the campaign.

Cmon everyone lets drop the negativity and get behind the team as our support will be crucial in the playoffs.

    Handball... dry your eyes.

    Weren't nearly good enough.

Could've played 'next goals' the winner' and still would have lost.

If's and but's . Our season has been punctuated by them.

Do you really think we are capable?...Not just hoping...hope gets you only so far, but really think so??

Too often we have come up short when we 'expected ' more.

I think some will be let down, again.

Do you go to away games or just home games?
