  1. So your saying that Whyte owns the stadium etc as a seperate entity to owning Rangers PLC. I thought he only bought David Murrays majority shareholding in the club.
  2. When a company goes into liquidation it immediately ceases to trade and is wound up as a company With no club there can be no membership of SPL. I would think it would be no different to the Falkirk situation in 2002 where the bottom team (Motherwell) were saved because Falkirk couldn't meet the membership criterea to come up to SPL
  3. Just read something on preffered creditor. If Whyte is such them he actually only gets preference over unsecured creditors. There are two classes that take preference over all others in liquidation. Employee's and HMRC. These two are entitled to their money in full before any others are paid out. I wonder if thats the stumbling block with players. If they agree to a wage cut they lose out. If they hold out for liquidation they eventually get all they are due provided the sell off of assets covers this.
  4. Am I missing something here. My understanding is that if a company goes into liquidation the assets are sold off and the funds raised shared among the creditors proportionately. Reading what I've reproduced below I cant see how Whyte can make anything out of liquidation. He's more likely to make money out of coming out of administration. Club would be debt free and a big desire to potential buyers. Some cut and paste: GENERAL LIQUIDATION QUERIES What does liquidation mean? Liquidation is a formal procedure whereby a liquidator is appointed to ‘wind-up’ the affairs of a limited company, which involves selling the company’s assets and paying creditors. When all the assets have been sold and the money distributed, the company is dissolved, which means that it no longer exists. How do you put a company into liquidation? There are two ways to liquidate a company: Compulsory liquidation: this is where someone, usually a creditor, presents a petition to the court and gives evidence that they are owed money which the company cannot pay, and so the court makes a winding-up order. The Official Receiver is normally appointed liquidator of the company. It is usual for a creditor to instruct a solicitor to act on his behalf because of the legal nature of the proceedings. Voluntary liquidation: this is where the company itself decides to go into liquidation, usually because it cannot pay its debts, and an insolvency practitioner is appointed liquidator of the company. How much does it cost? If you want to put a company into compulsory liquidation, you have to pay £1000 deposit to the court, plus a £220 court fee, plus the cost of advertising the petition in the London Gazette and any costs of instructing a solicitor. If you want to put a company into voluntary liquidation, the costs vary depending on which insolvency practitioner you use. The forms to put a company into compulsory liquidation can be found on our website at www.insolvency.gov.uk in ‘Forms’ and then ‘Forms for England and Wales’. What happens to the company directors? When a company goes into liquidation, the directors cease to have control of the company, and the liquidator takes over. The directors have a duty to co-operate with the liquidator to identify all assets and liabilities of the company and provide details of its affairs. The liquidator has to make a return under the Company Directors’ Disqualification Act 1986 about the directors’ conduct in relation to the company.
  5. The demise began way before the computer age. The so called reformation of schools and education resulted in less money available to support sporting activity. Extra curicular activity was stopped by a lack of funding to pay interested teachers to supervise and support such activity. When I went to high school I stayed back three times a week for shinty, rugby and athletics and competed on a saturday. None of these had to be budgeted for by my parents. They were all funded by education budget. That doesnt happen any more. I competed in regional and county schools athletics. Thats long gone. Nowadays there are specialist clubs for sport but there's a cost to parents to have their children attend. The point of demise was also the point at which local authorities began selling of available sporting land for property development. As kids we could also use school playing fields any time we wished. Now, because of the society we live in and the need for additional security around schools, those playing fields are surrounded by high fencing and gates are locked. Its very easy to blame the computer age but parents are very reluctant, because they dont trust society and fear harm befalls their child, to let them out of their sight and its easier to let them sit in front of a screen than go out and supervise them. Sadly thats the world we live in nowadays
  6. As the rules of the SPL stand at the minute, assuming Rangers are liquidated and dont fulfill their fixtures, they would be expelled from SPL. Company rules and regulations will say that if Rangers are liquidated all their assets, including Ibrox and Murray Park, would be sold off to pay off thoses owed money. Would the persons hoping to reform Rangers as a new entity be in a position to purchase the assets. They would have to come to agreement with administrators and debtors that debts would be paid off or they would have to bid on an open market for the assets. I can see developers being pretty interested. As for change I forsee an amalgamation of SPL and SFL within the next three or four years. Scotland has proved it is not a big enough country to have three governing bodies of the sport. I also believe that we will form our own TV company and not be dependant on monies from existing companies. Change is needed and it will come whether or not there is a Rangers FC or some new entity.
  7. Get this team fit and working well together and we could be aiming for the top spot next season. Rangers wont be there so the joint sponsorship deals will dry up. Celtics average gate will drop so they'll have to cut there cloth to suit. It'll be easy competition.
  8. Yep and if anyone wants to learn the words http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQ2uT34rgmo
  9. Personally I think if we go down under the current climate we will be back to part time football in Inverness. I also think some people are not looking at a whole picture when they single out some players and question why they get a start. The ones I would bring to attention here are the U-21 Scottish players that get the nod when some think they shouldn't. Doesnt the club get a fee from the SFA each time one of those players are used? Tactics are something that baffles me at times. Too many players played in wrong positions. I think the first thing that needs to happen is to get our best team playing together week in week out. Get them gelling with each other and the rest should fall into place. Then we may win games we're expected to lose and lose those we're expected to win. At least we'll see we are playing as a team. And finally, to put things in perspective, our operating budget for a full season is around £3.5 million. Rangers need to cut £4.7 of spending between now and seasons end to avoid liquidation.
  10. You can only get a tax rebate if your employer has actually paid the taxes to HMRC.
  11. John Rankin Dundee U 3 - 0 ICT
  12. Interesting....................who is the Inverness Caledonian Trust? Are they the same as Inverness Caledonian Thistle Trust Limited a dormant company registered at Companies House as a construction and civil engineering company and who's directors are Mr Allan George Sellar, Mr David John Stewart and Mr David Fraser Sutherland. Registered business address is in Stoneyfield Business Park.
  13. Lee Cox came from a championship club. Josh Meekings came from a championship club. Doran, Winnall and OTJ all came from Premiership clubs. A. Shinnie came from an SPL club. The English leagues are of a far higher standard to ours and teams from league 2 could easily hold there own against most of the SPL teams. That said everyone is missing the one point that is holding this club back from building success. Income. We cant give players longer term deals. We cant give players security. We cant give players the sort of wage they'd get at many other clubs so how do we attract all those championship players we should be looking at?
  14. Agree with a lot of that Chris but I disagree on your assessment of Meekings. I thought he stapped his authority on M-S and stopped him doing what he's good at.
  15. Sorry mate but I have to totally disagree with you. Butcher has brought enough players into the squad that can do the business. When they go out onto the field its them who have to shine. As for the constant reflection on letting Munro go. Dont you think its maybe wearing a bit thin. Munro was let go. End of. I recently found out the reason why he was released and whether or not I agree with it it happened and its time to move on. We have a team of very good players. We just aren't getting it right as a team. That can be put down to injury, constant changes or whatever but, I believe, the bottom line is we are a club struggling to hire that extra bit of quality that makes every other player try harder. I look at the history of Scottish football and I see teams now in the lower leagues who once upon a time were the elite of Scottish football. They couldn't hold out on the low gates and neither will we. We will try but so will everyone else and our 3000 or so diehards are just not enough to keep us as one of the top twelve.
  16. We are not a top six team thats for sure. I think we'll pick up enough points to be safe for another season but we really need to get a team together that plays with each other each and every game. We have no recognisable partnerships and that was our failing tonight. Uniteds defence was excellent. They got forward when they had to. They tracked back when they had to and they covered for each other when they had to. First goal was just a comedy of errors. Leave aside the hand ball from Rankin his strike was something else. The swerve he got on the ball. But it started from Gillet not clearing the ball as he should have done. A poor pass back and poor clearance from Esson. Richie tries to kick a ball thats above his head and Rankin does the rest. The other two goals came partly from defensive errors but more from good partnerships. We tried to play at times and we got into their box on a few occassions but we just dont have the finish. I'm not going to single out individuals for criticism. They were up against a football team. I will however criticise the tactics. On a couple of occasions when we kept the ball on the ground and passed it about we got into the opposition box. For most of it it was hit and hope. Lumping balls up to knowhere will not win us games. Put that one behind and win on saturday.
  17. No!! In fact I can't honestly see us make up ten points to DU with only eighteen available.
  18. When offers like this come along its usually because of a lack of numbers in hospitality. There will be a little profit made from the entry fee's assuming a decent number turn up. There is also profit to be made from bar sales which is probably the main reason to try and fill the place.
  19. Thats the point Luke. The defender will be ostrosised but the midfielder or striker will be a hero............for one incident in a game. As I say its a team sport. Attack starts with the keeper and defence starts with the striker.
  20. He used to be bishbishbish but his glass got to half way and he had to make a decision. I've lost count of the number of times I've seen Proc play. I've seen him play well. I've seen him play bad. Proc, like many defenders of many teams, can go well for 95% of any game but make one mistake and he's crucified. Thats the nature of being a defender. Its the same with keepers. Make a dozen spectacular saves and then fluff one ball and your crap. Whereas midfielders can do nothing all came but only be seen as having done nothing. Almost everyone on this forum will put Jonny Hayes into their team every game. And that includes me. The fact is though Jonny can go three quarters of a game doing absolutely nothing but run around like a headless chicken but at the same time can turn it on two or three times in the game and give a result. Proc has a role to play in this squad and he does it just as well or as bad as every other player. Its a team game that needs a switched on team and when the switch is on each and every one of our squad can put in the right performance. The big problem is that we forget the switch too many times.
  21. Better get Butcher in the frame I suppose
  22. The question is.......................was there ever serious investment on offer or are a group of people trying to buy control of the club? A figure of £250,000 was bandied about but that amount would only cover the shortfall on our running costs last season. Gate reciepts give us approx £950,000, based on this seasons average gate of 4,200 and an average price of £15. The cost to operate the club in 10/11 season was over £3.5 million. Gate reciepts make up a quarter of this so a lot of income has to be gained to balance the books. Personally I dont see a one off quarter million payment for control of the club being in the long term interest of the business. I'd like to see the sort of investors who can put a decent, competitive team on the field that would be challenging mid to top half of the table year on year. Sadly the people with that sort of cash are in very short supply.
  23. The previous choice was a bit tongue in cheek Esson Piermayr, Tokely, Williams, G. Shinnie Gnakpa, Tansey, Foran, Ross McKay, Tade Bench: Tuffey, Proctor, Gillet, Tudor Jones, Sutherland, Winnall
  24. Naw!!!! Like 666 is the mark of the devil 75 is the mark of ultimate womanhood.
  25. in a nine goal thriller.............pity it was six against Peterheed
