  1. What utter bo**ocks. Pipe bands are not a teuchter thing. They are world wide. Maybe you need to get out of Dalneigh and see a bit of the world. Some of the most successful pipe bands of the last thirty or so years have been Glasgow Police Pipeband, Field Marshall Montgomery Pipeband (Ireland), Torphichen and Bathgate Pipeband, Toronto Police Pipeband. None of those are Highland bands. Indeed I dont think a Highland band has ever made grade 1. Bit of useless information..........there are more than three hundred bands in Canada. Anyway, to get back on topic. Should the choice of music not be something that everyone can enjoy.
  2. What to help in the fifth failed attempt at promotion? :blah01:
  3. Sorry but I think Lionel and Ross are the only defenders we have that can actually read whats in front of them and the only ones who actually try to get the ball on the ground and create some footballing play. The others seem only capable of punting long high balls to the opposition. Lionel and Ross both take a great deal of stick from the armchair managers because they tend to get caught out. Why do they get caught out? because the central defenders aren't capable of covering for them.
  4. Isnt the tune 'When the saints go marching in' by Louis Armstrong?
  5. No wonder I haven't got a team.......I'm in the wrong feckin dressing room
  6. I wasn't there but I am one of those you love pipe bands and would be happy for them to do a stint at all games. Trouble is, during the games and competition seasons its difficult to get a band. Childrens footie is also entertaining. It tends to grab the attention more than some of the things they do. Flybe could do an egg throwing at the opposition manager competition as well.
  7. Police and steward numbers are based on expected numbers not area covered. For OF and Aberdeen they will have at least twice as many as for other games.
  8. In the new Europa cup format which incorporates the existing Uefa cup and the intertoto cup. This gives us two places for third and fourth in league + Scottish cup winners place. For next season only we have been awarded a fair play place which will go to the fair play team in Scotland.
  9. If we beat Hamilton, one more win guarantees survival. If we drew out next game (not accies) and results went our way would we still be safe??? All we need to do is match or beat the results of the teams below us to be safe. A win tomorrow will go a long way to securing safety. A win tomorrow and we're safe. Falkirk, Killie and the Midden have to play each other and only one of those can get the max 9 points available from the last three games. So if one gets the max points then only one of the other two can get six points. One of those three will not be able to catch us.
  10. A win tomorrow is the only acceptable result. 4 point cushion is ok. 3 points too risky. Besides time to wipe the grin of the wee weeds Ried's face
  11. I was told that Iain has been offered ?3000 a week at Hearts. He would stay for around ?2500 but the club couldn't commit to that before Butcher came along. Is a pre-contract not an agreement that, if you leave your present club you will give us first option and not talk to others. I think you can change your mind and stay with your existing club. Not certain of that though.
  12. Well that's not very nice is it. :thumb04: But of the players who are out of contract at the end of the summer: Iain Vigurs - Aye Brian Kerr - Aye Pavels Mihadjuks - Aye Richie Foran - Aye Thierry Gathuessi - No Filipe Morais - Aye Richie Byrne - No Lionel Djebi-Zadi - Aye Zander Sutherland - Maybe (loan him out) Eric Odhiambo - Possibly Roy McBain - Hmmm Players who aren't out of contact but I'd still dump - Phil McGuire, Oh please get rid of him, please! i'd go with that as well with the priority players being Vigurs, Mihadjuks, Morais and Kerr (who does need to get his fitness up though). Don't rate Foran too much as the aforementioned but still get him signed. As for the like of the younger lads coming through only offer them contracts if they are the standard of the like of Vigurs and Duff otherwise there is no point. I think clubs make the mistake of offering youngsters just for the sake of it, i don't really think we have any that offer much to be honest, they may be ok at 19's level the likes of morrison etc but that isn't good enough, you need to be exceptional at 19's level i think before you can jump to first team football otherwise your paying these players just to turn up to training with no intention of ever playing them, it's not right and it's unfair to give false hope to the young lads. Your also paying those players because the rules say you must have three U-21's in your squad for league games.
  13. I think tangomans more probably right, especially with the 20% cut in tv revenue. I'm sure the board, as well as the manager, would love to keep Black. We have to stay within our Budget though and to more than double his current wage would, undoubtedly, lead to others wanting similar so I wouldn't lay blame on the board if thewy cant keep him. Those I would let go are Byrne, McGuire and Gatthuessi. Possibly Wood, Zander, Gillespie and McNulty. None of whom have really broken into the starting slots. It may be argued though that they do enough in training to fire up the others. I'd give Scott-Woodhouse and Shane Sutherland a crack. I'd bring in a keeper, a pair of natural wingers and a striker with the strength of Hartson, the agility of Jimmy Johnston and the ball skills of Ronaldo. Would that be too much to hope for?
  14. Wouldn't bet on Hearts getting a Europa spot just yet.
  15. It's very difficult to judge whether recent results are a result of Butchers management, though I would have to concede he has made a big difference, or the players realisation that their livelihood is at stake. Either way we have seen changes for the better. What concerns me is that Terry has only committed for another season so, unless he signs up for longer when we're safe, I cant see how he can put long term plans in place for the betterment of the team and the club and If he chooses to leave we're back to square one. We need a decent period of stability and a plan of progression for, at least, the next five years and, unless we get long term committment at the top, that wont come about if managers aren't staying to oversee the plans.
  16. The club do see it and for the last two or three seasons have done their best to allow those who want to to choose section G as their prefered ST area. Unfortunately the uptake hasn't been great. Its up to the fans to make an area their own. Not the club.
  17. I believe we could maybe get Kenny Clark for the last game of the season. He is retiring and has been given a choice of whatever game he wants and he thinks us v Falkirk may be the best game of the day with more at stake than any other.
  18. The cap is readilly available in the club shop OR ONLINE HERE
