Ex-ICT players' news
The following is taken from SPFL website Tuesday 11th November 2014 Elgin City meet Annan Athletic tonight in a League 2 match at Borough Briggs, aiming to move off the foot of the table. Here are 10 things you might not know about the Moray club. 1 Elgin were elected to the senior ranks of Scottish football in 2000, alongside Highland League rivals Peterhead. Unlike the Blue Toon, Elgin have never made it out of the fourth tier. 2 Their best season since they joined the SFL came in 2011/12 under manager Ross Jack, when Elgin finished in fourth place but then lost to Albion Rovers in the play-offs. 3 Elgin have had 11 managers since joining the senior ranks, with seven permanent appointments and four caretaker roles, including former Scotland striker John Robertson, who was in charge for one game earlier this year. The managers have been Alex Caldwell (2000–02), Harry McFadden (2002–03, caretaker), David Robertson (2003–05), Jamie McKenzie (2005–06, caretaker), Brian Irvine (2006) Graham Tatters (2006–07, caretaker), Robbie Williamson (2007–08), David McConnachie (2008–09, caretaker), Ross Jack (2009–2014), John Robertson (2014), Barry Wilson (2014–). 4 Former Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Aberdeen and Peterhead manager Steve Paterson was in charge of Elgin in season 1989/90 when the Black and Whites won the treble of Highland League, Qualifying Cup and North of Scotland Cup. 5 Elgin had an impressive Scottish Cup run in 1959/60, when Forfar were defeated 5-1, with a home tie against Celtic being their reward. Over 11,000 fans filled Borough Briggs and Elgin almost caused a shock when Willie Grant put them ahead but Celtic grabbed two goals in the last six minutes to win through. The Glasgow side also met Elgin in 1967 and defeated them 7-0, just three months before beating Inter Milan in the European Cup final. 6 Elgin City had the tallest footballer in Britain on their books from 2010 to 2014. Six foot, 10 inch striker Paul Millar played in over 70 games and scored 15 times before leaving for Formartine United in the summer. 7 Former Scotland striker John McGinlay was transferred from Elgin City to Shrewsbury Town in 1989 for £25,000.McGinlay then went on to star for Bolton Wanderers and played in 13 internationals for Scotland. He scored four goals, including the winner in a World Cup qualifier against Sweden in 1996. 8 Manager Barry Wilson had a near 25-year playing career that started off at Ross County and saw spells at Southampton, Raith Rovers, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Livingston, Queen of the South, Peterhead and the Borough Briggs side. Wilson scored a last-minute equaliser for Elgin against Clyde when he was their player/assistant manager, just 16 days after turning 40. 9 In 1909 Elgin moved into their second home of Station Park but during the First World War the pitch was ploughed up to grow crops. When organised football resumed, the club was homeless and, after playing at Cooper Park on a temporary basis, City moved into their current Borough Briggs ground in 1921. 10 Elgin were formed in 1883 and two years later gained membership of the Highland Football League. They marked their debut with a 7-2 win over Inverness side Citadel at Milnfield. RC (Bob) Hamilton, scored four goals. He subsequently joined Rangers and won the first of his 11 Scotland caps in March 1899. Craig Stewart Read more at http://spfl.co.uk/news/article/10-things-about-elgin-city/

Ex-ICT players' news
I think there's a lot more to Elgins woes than Barry can fix. Wyness and Andrews are well past it and the rest of the squad is made up of mostly youngsters released by ICT. Apart from reaching the play-offs in 11/12 under Ross Jack Elgin have been constantly at the bottom half of SFL3 / SPFL2. Perhaps they are one club who should never have left HFL. I'm sure Barry and Graeme Bayne do all they can to coach this team but think saving them from the drop will be the proverbial mountain.

Shinnie for Scotland
Phil Bardsley pulls out of Scotland squad due to injury so does Shinnie get the call to replace him? No!! Instead we'll go for another young inexperienced lower league player. Calum Patterson of Hearts

Scottish Cup 2014/15 - Fourth Round (last 32)
Got me thinking of records so lifted following from Wiki On 20 July 2011, during the 2011 Copa America tournament in Argentina, Brazil missed 4 penalties in a row, which allowed Paraguay to reach the semi-finals 2–0.[citation needed] The current World Record for the most penalties scored consecutively in a shoot out stands at 29, in a Hampshire Senior Cup 2nd Round game between Brockenhurst and Andover Town on 9 October 2013, in which the 30th penalty was saved allowing Brockenhurst to win 15-14.[46] This beat the previous record of 27, in a Johnstones Paint Trophy first round match between Leyton Orient F.C. and Dagenham & Redbridge F.C. on 7 September 2011, in which the 28th penalty was saved allowing Dagenham to win the shootout.[citation needed] During the final of the 1992 African Cup of Nations played in Senegal, Ivory Coast won the penalty shootout by 11:10 with the last penalty missed by Anthony Baffoe the stand in Ghanaian Captain. This is the most penalties in the final match of a major international tournament.[citation needed] Fourteen years later, the Ivory Coast and Cameroon needed 24 penalties to decide who would advance to the semi-finals of the 2006 African Cup of Nations. The Ivory Coast advanced by winning 12-11 after Samuel Eto'o missed his second attempt, as his was the only miss of the penalty shootout.[citation needed] The current world record for the longest penalty shoot-out in a first class match is 48 penalties during the 2008-2009 Greek Cup Final when Olympiakos Pireus beat AEK Athens 15-14[47] However, the record for the highest score in a penalty shoot out was set in the 1988 Argentine Championship, when Argeninos Juniors beat Racing Club 20-19 after 44 penalties.[48] On the 11 December 2012, Bradford City set the record for most consecutive penalty shootout wins. They have won 9 penalty shootouts since 2009 and that has included wins against Arsenal and local rivals Huddersfield Town.

Hibernian through the eyes of Pat Stanton
Yep. Always quoted as one of the Lisbon Lions though he never played in the final due to injury. Another interesting fact is that back then the only sub allowed was a goalkeeper.

Scottish Cup 2014/15 - Fourth Round (last 32)
Maybe so but over the long haul these things tend to balance out. Since 04/05 season, and not counting semi's, finals or replays, we've been drawn in 12 league cup home ties against 14 away. For Scottish cup its 17 home ties against 6 aways. Personally I think away ties are better for us. The away fans get more behind the team and 1200 or so at TCS makes the place pretty dead.

Scottish Cup 2014/15 - Fourth Round (last 32)
Remember it well, it was notable for being the only time Darran Thomson made a worthwhile contribution! The match report from that game taken from this site: Victory snatched from the jaws of a goal-less draw. Caley Thistle spent most of the game pinned in their own half by a Saints side totally transformed by the new management team of Gus MacPherson and Andy Millen. Illness and injury played havoc with John Robertson’s team selection and the squad was stretched to the limit. The match was played amidst hail, sleet, rain and eventually driving snow but there was never any question of the 90 minutes not being completed. It all started slowly then in 15 minutes Saints claimed a penalty when Simon Lappin went down but play was waved on. Seconds later Mark Brown made the first of many fine saves when he dived to push away a John O’Neill header. The pressure on the visitors’ goal was relieved in 24 minutes with a break upfield and a free kick 30 yards out. Bobby Mann’s low ball was touched for a corner by Stevie Woods. Saints continued to press and just before the break Brown was at full stretch to collect a 15 yard chip from Ricky Gillies. Brown’s inspired form continued to deny Saints in the second half despite two good efforts from Gillies then in a rare venture on Woods’ goal Paul Ritchie hit a low shot wide. Brian McGinty had two chances in 62 minutes but he was foiled by Stuart Golabek then hit low past the post. The tide began to turn in the 74th minute when Mann headed past following a Liam Keogh corner then four minutes later Saints were stunned to lose a goal. David Bingham turned Kirk Broadfoot to create space then a neat flick set up Darran Thomson just outside the box. Woods managed to reach Thomson’s low shot but it rolled over the line for what proved to be the winner. It was very close to 2-0 just two minutes later when Keogh sent in a dangerous cross from the right. Ritchie ran into the box to reach it but his shot cleared the bar. Saints did not give up but their cause was not helped by a snow shower. In 86 minutes Grant Munro cleared a dangerous ball with Brown beaten then play switched to the other end. Ritchie won a corner on the right a minute over time then more precious seconds were wasted when a free kick was awarded close to the corner flag. The whistle went, Saints felt robbed but it was Caley Thistle who moved into the Quarter Final draw for the fourth time. Note Robbo's dilemma due to injury and illness yet we started with Brown, Tokely, Munro, Mann, Golabek, Thomson, McBain, Duncan, Keogh, Bingham and Ritchie. The season Brewster stopped our chance at the final.
