  2. Good luck to both lads and the team tomorrow. Sadly I wont be able to watch. Got to go to a works function in a top Edinburgh hotel. Free accomodation and bar. Bummer really. :001:
  3. Highland News Caff - If I play then I'll stay! By Paul Chalk Published: 10 November, 2007 STUART McCaffrey revealed he's had crunch talks with boss Craig Brewster about his future ? but admits he wants to go nowhere. The Caley Jags defender has been linked in recent days to Irn Bru Division One side Partick Thistle, but the club and the player deny any knowledge of it. McCaffrey has won a place in the back line while on-loan defender Phil McGuire has been missing, and McCaffrey insists he's desperate to stay there, and at Caley Thistle, but admits the New Year could decide his future. He told the HN: "I still have the rest of this season and all of next season left on my contract, so that's not an issue. The only issue is for me to play football. I have a very good relationship with the gaffer, which makes things very easy. He knows that I have been frustrated that I have not played recently. "I have had discussions with the gaffer and he's been great with me. It's all down to what happens in January. If I'm playing and part of the team, I'll be happy, if not then I won't be. "For me, playing in the Inverness team, it's a case of I don't want to play for anyone else. But if I'm not playing for Caley Thistle, it then becomes difficult. I am 28 years old and I look forward to Saturdays because of that chance to play football. "Things can change quickly in football, it's amazing. A fortnight ago, I was sitting in the stand with my girlfriend and cousins at the game against Gretna at Motherwell, and two weeks on I have played at Pittodrie and Ibrox. "It's nice to have this bit of speculation, but that's all it is. You often read transfer stories, but they often come to nothing. I'm not saying there may not be truth in the Partick link, but the manager or director of football haven't mentioned it to me." There's little doubt that the former Aberdeen man reckons he's good enough to cope in the top-flight, and he says he ? and his team-mates ? have proved that. He explained: "I think I have shown that I'm capable of playing in the SPL. I'm not saying that I could play for Celtic or Rangers, but there's not that big a gap between most other teams. We have beaten Hearts this season and, indeed, we have beaten Celtic and Rangers in the past. I certainly feel I'm good enough for this level. "We do very well in this league and I honestly believe that for the money we're paid by the club, we're as good as any team in the world at this price range." Looking ahead to Saturday's SPL visit of Motherwell, McCaffrey reckons he sees a lot of Well's manager in one of his former bosses. He said: "Mark McGhee's style is similar to Steve Paterson in a way. He takes the view that a happy ship is one going in the right direction. "He has taken that group of players and he has them enjoying playing together. They are on a high at the moment." A stoppage time penalty in August denied ICT a 1-1 draw, but McCaffrey hopes that they can get sweet revenge for the killer blow this weekend. He said: "I still don't know how we didn't take something from the game we lost down there. "We played so well and then lost a penalty in the last minute, but it was a good game where we acquitted ourselves well. We want to turn the tables, they won down there and we want to win this game at home, so it will be honours even."

  7. Isnt it a bit like the Govan area. Drunks and junkies, derelict buildings and a big footie stadium :016:
  8. We have the longest distance from pub to stadium of any cub in the world apart from some Arab nations
  9. We have ten midfielders available at the moment and all will be needed. We are playing more reserve games this season. We will have more midweek games in the latter part of the season to accomodate cup runs, weather and a shortened season in run up to Euro 08. Our younger players are also active in U-21/U-19 competitions. Ten or twelve isn't a lot in the broader sectrum of a football club
  10. Barry Wilson scored the last British senior goal of the last millenium and the first of this one.
  11. Quote from last weeks HN: Brewster, meanwhile, told the HN that's he's been delighted with Wyness's strike partner, Romanian ace Marius Niculae and he reckons he's soon be hitting the goal trail for the Highlanders. He said: "It's just not happening for Marius at the moment and that was summed up on Saturday by the shot that was cleared off the line in the first half. Sometimes when strikers don't score early at their new club, there's a weight, or expectancy, put on their shoulders. "He's been working hard for the team and eventually the goals will come. I have told him to keep working hard and things will get better for him. If defenders and midfielders see strikers doing well, it gives them confidence too, and visa versa. That's how the team are working at the moment and long may it continue."

  13. There is an exemption in place in England, but as far as I am aware there is no exemption in place in Scotland. As I say we are buying a very experienced company to provide our security and I would be very surprised, as well as disappointed if they don't comply as necessary. LG. Para 33 refers to Scottish Office Guide. I'm sure they all know the law and will all comply. So if anyone wants to challenge then you may find yoursef with egg on your face. I'm just adding bits to show the gray areas, but I would expect that Rock Steady will either have trained staff or clarification on the exemption. They work at much bigger stadiums than ours.
  14. Just browsed through the SIA consultation document I think maybe the paragraphs below may exempt the stewards from licensing. 32. There are already a number of systems of regulating safety at sports grounds/events. These include Health and Safety legislation and regulations; legislation under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975 and the Fire Safety and Safety of Places of Sport Act 1987; and the Licensing Act 2003. 33. The PSIA was not intended to regulate the roles associated with undertaking safety functions already covered by the legislation in the preceding paragraph, much of which is reflected in the DCMS/Scottish Office Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds (?the Green Guide?) and guidance such as ?The Event Safety Guide3 and Managing Crowds Safely4 published by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Instead, it is about ensuring that those people involved specifically in security duties are appropriately trained and vetted in proportion to the risk.

  16. Isnt that rumour over a week old. Eck stated last week that he's not interested at the minute. Wants to take Scotland to WC finals.
  17. I wouldn't be surprised to see McGuire stay. Dont think Dunfermline can afford to keep him.
  18. Well it wasn't Dods :016:
  19. The designated sectorsthat require licensing are: Door Supervisor (in-house & contact), Security Guard (contractors), Cash & Valuables in Transit (contractors), Public Space Surveillance CCTV (contractors), Close Protection (contractors), Key Holders (contractors), Vehicle immobilising (England and Wales only) so what does crowd control come under?
