  1. All who were around in 78 will remember the tune. The words have changed a little though: Brewsters Caley Army We're on the march wi' Brewster's Army, We're gonna make old Hampden Roar, And we'll really shake them up, When we win the Co-op Cup, Cos Caley are the only one's who'll score. We're representing Highland, And we're gauny do or die, County cannae dae it, 'Cos they didnae qualify! We're on the march wi' Brewster's Army, We're gonna make old Hampden Roar, And we'll really shake them up, When we win the Co-op Cup, Cos Caley are the only one's who'll score.
  2. According to Montrose contacts Gary is having a hernia op and will be out for a few weeks.
  3. sorry but to me what you are saying there made me think you were saying it's ok for celtic to sing traditional. sorry if i misunderstood what you meant. but anyway, why you so keen to defend celtic? trust me they do sing about martin luther. also most "traditional songs" have referances to the IRA. these people killed thousands of peoples lives protestant and catholic. you could say that it's nearly as bad as saying u want to be up to your knees in fenian blood. And of course the British army, the UDA, UVF, UFF never killed anybody. Between 1969 and 2002 there were 3524 killings: Republican Paramilitary 2056, Loyalist Paramilitary 1020, British Security 362, Irish Security 5, not known 81 The one difference between the Irish and the Scots is that the Irish continued to fight for what they believed in after 1690. The Scots fought till 1707 then gave it all up. Incidentally, the Battle of the Boyne was fought between King Williams forces and the Stewart Jacobites, who had fled to Ireland from Scotland. Both sides managed to secure the services of Irishmen to bolster their armies. It was not a battle against the Irish as many people think.
  4. Dont get of the rig till wednesday :019:
  5. Those games are our local derby. I dont think we've ever sold out any games against Aberdeen though. Highest in last two seasons was 7368. Other two games 5744 and 6809.
  6. Cant say I've ever heard the line caley4life quotes but if you study the words of the songs from both sides, and I have done as part of a project, you will see that the green songs are very much pro-Irish, with no mention of religion, whereas the blue songs are very anti-catholic.
  7. uninvent catseyes, they really bug me when I'm driving with my offside wheels on the white lines.
  8. No, they came from Harris and that'll be you of the Keo brandy list then. Got to think about your health :blah01:
  9. I dont think singing about being "up to our knees in fenian blood" is really appropriate in this day and age. Nor is it appropriate to chant "f*ck the pope and the vatican" between verses of other songs. Those words are not only winding up Celtic fans but all catholics.
  10. One of Brew's attributes, and what will likely prove his success, is that he is very well liked and admired by all the players. They see what he has achieved by hard work and know that if they follow his lead they can achieve the same if not more.
  11. I've had to work for what I have since I was about ten so that in my book makes me working class. If the distinction is based on earnings, home ownership etc then I'm probably middle class. If it was based on land ownership, lairdship then I could be construed as being upper class. My ancestors owned vast acreage of lands around Spean Bridge until the clearances. My own view on all this is that I came into this world without anything and I will leave it with nothing. I have the ability to be equal to and maybe even better than everyone else therefore I live in a classless society. I was brought up never to look down on anyone, treat every one as equal. I may admire the achievements of some but I will never look up to them. I care not for what others have or dont have and so long as I stay content and healthy then I will always be happy. And every one else can kiss my ***.
  12. BigTams and Caley4life, your topics have been merged as there both on the same subject.
  13. Is that Johndo with the baseball cap and cravat :003:
  14. As I posted on the other thread its the authorities who need to be lobbyed not the club.
  15. Not a mis-quote Johndo, more a mis-interpretation perhaps. You did say somewhere that your info had to be criptical so maybe my de-cyphering brain hasn't worked so well this time :003:
  16. I think what we have just now is excellent but we do need to think about what happens when the loan players leave so those positions need to be considered. I wonder how one cheers in Romanian :023: We have had a bad start to the season points wise but bear in mind we've played 4 games away.and also played OF and Hibs (who we maybe should have gotten a point from) The next four are where we will show our metal and our league position after game 11 is where we will deserve to be. I also believe this is the time when we get it over on Aberdire.
  17. One of the attributes of being a good liar is to remember the lie. This thread has Savage, the chief of Orion, stepping down. Another has Hagi coming here as an Orion employee. My question....why would Orion want to step down from the board and still pay for people in the club? If there are strange goings on then who's going to benifit. Orion? Tulloch's? ICT? Very rich Romanian? Too many questions.
  18. It may come as a surprise to some but all the other teams are taking similar actions. People are being singled out and banned for the very same reasons as Stewart. Are the clubs making examples? Who knows. I even know of a Rangers fan who got a five year ban from Ibrox because he was seen to associate with known troublemakers. These, unfortunately, are the hard facts of the modern era and unless fans from all teams can get together and show solidarity in the face of the leaders of the game then it will all continue.
  19. Bet there wasn't too many of that 3000 from Sneck
  20. No point even looking. The transfer fee to the MoD would break our bank.
  21. Not often your right IHE but your.......................................... :blah01: Beach, you should have nipped along to Elgin and watched some goals.
  22. Are you seriously suggesting "some time" would have been taken by firefighters to isolate electricity from the building, even if people had been screaming for help from upstairs rooms..? The worst thing that could have happened had water been poured onto a building with a live electrical supply is that a "short" would have been created and a fuse would have blown somewhere... No problem... Also Laura has correctly pointed out water was eventually pumped from the River Ness, but by the time it arrived it was way too late... I would like to know why it took such a long time to do that, and what the problem was with the hydrants on Old Edinburgh Rd/Culduthel Rd/Castle St.... Thank God no one was in that building - they quite simply wouldn't have stood a chance... I just hope there will be some kind of meaningful enquiry into just how yet another part of Sneck's heritage has been irretrievably lost... Johnboy, I,m not suggesting it. I know it. The firefighters wouldn't isolate the power. They'd contact the power suppliers to ensure power to the building was isolated. If there were people at windows attempts would be made to rescue using ladders and turntables. As for your 'blow a fuse' theory. Yep! modern buildings have Extra Load Circuit Breakers. Old buildings likely dont. And there is never a guarantee that correct fuses are fitted. Nor would this building have a current fire certificate or recent inspection because its wasn't in use. I can see why you would feel aggrieved at the time it may take to start fighting the fire but the firemans life is every bit as important as anybody elses. The philosophy nowadays, supported by the Health and Safety at Work Act, is 'save life if it's safe to do so but property can be replaced'.
  23. To be fair to IHE, if the words are twisted a great deal the interpretation could be "a man with a Romanian business". But then that wouldn't be twisting it, it would be corkscrewing.
  24. The first thing that must be assessed prior to fighting any fire in a building is whether or not electricity has been isolated. That can take quite some time. Water and power are not a good combination.
