  1. If the players don't know each other well enough, and can't lift their game for a Scottish Cup final then having Dodds tickle their balls isn't going to make a bit of difference.  It's not as if he's a tactical mastermind who we'd expect to change anything to throw the opposition off come the day.

Get him gone and let someone like Ryan Esson take the team to the final.  Absolutely nothing to lose.

  2. We know that the club overspent by around £800k chasing promotion in 21/22.  Who knows how much we've overspent by in the past 12 months failing at the same thing.

Club debts were sitting at near £2 Million 12 months ago and could easily have increased by another million by now.

Cup money might wipe out losses from the last 12 months, but the way we're operating is not sustainable and we're likely in a worse state now than when we had to sell everything to keep the club going...and we don't have near as many assets this time around.

If that's the cost of having Dodds trying to achieve promotion, then the football arguments don't matter as we simply can't afford it.

Let's bring in a manager/head coach that doesn't need the massive coaching staff, the sports scientists, the video analysts, sporting director etc that probably account for half of those £800k losses.

Let's get rid of the CEO who's running things this way while we're at it.

  3. Has been mention of him not applying himself in training during discussions at games because he'd taken the huff with being sent out on loan, but that could just be chatter.

Definite ability, as we saw at the semi final, but not shown enough that we should be offering him anything more than a basic squad player level wage if he was interested in staying.

Sorry, but I think his time is up. Club legend definitely, but I think he is past his best and it's time to part ways.

(Expecting an tsunami of grief now)

He may be past his best, but his best was smoking it for us in the top division, and if not for some injury issues, could/should have played at a higher level.

He might not have the same pace he used to, but he has experience and smarts.  Still more than enough in his game to be an important player for us in the Championship and if we don't get him signed up, then I'll put money on him ending up OTB if/when they are relegated.

  5. My non attendance at the semi was not in protest, it was due to my not being able to feed my family and pay the prices being demanded for the game (plus travel and associated other costs).

If the final was similarly priced and 3pm, I may have been able to scrape it together.  However the moving of the time now makes it more expensive as I wouldn't be back in time for my partner going to work and would need to factor in babysitter costs or her losing a shift...so a couple of quid off the ticket makes zero difference and comes nowhere close to offsetting the extra cost.

There are going to be thousands of fans having to shell out large extra costs to attend as not everyone is going to get on the supporters busses at £20 each (well done to them for not exploiting the situation).  Likewise, a couple of quid off the ticket makes no real difference

In fact, they could probably make it free entry and it still wouldn't offset fans' extra costs!

As to your remark about the comment by the trust being tongue in cheek...that kinda adds to my point about people not being able to take them seriously, does it not?!

Because it's where you are at the end of the season that really counts?

I'm no fan, but not to offer an extension to a man who has taken us to the cup final - albeit after being knocked out! - and very close to the playoffs would be a bit churlish.  We're not Chelsea or Spurs

That's one vote for mediocrity...anyone else?

3 games? Our form in 2023 is superb. We are in a final, on the brink of a play-off spot.

    I was clearly using hyperbole.

How come we're totally ignoring the majority of the season when judging managerial performance?

I've not been on of his biggest fans this season, especially during our wretched mid season run but even I know/understand that it would be harsh not to offer a new contract on the back of the cup success and upturn in form so let's hope we get the desired result on Friday because I truly believe that is what our recent form deserves :ictscarf:

I also trust him in the transfer market to find more gems such as Nathan Shaw, he did talk on viaplay (the interview is on our FB page fwiw) about potentially getting £1m for reaching the final and did tell the presenter that he hopes to get some of that windfall for new contract offers and/or transfers.

Have you considered a name change?  Maybe something like FlipFlop?

Also, the last published accounts show nearly £2 Million of debt.  Even if our cup run does net us £1 Million, then the manager is likely to see very little of it.

Until there is a more viable and attractive alternative on the table, then despite reservations, there is little option but to support the current Board and for supporters group and others to try to work with the current regime in improving the way the club is run.

There is another option.  Fans can vote with their feet 🤷‍♂️

  10. No surprise that the club's pet podcaster is first to jump to their defence.

I have no issue with anyone getting a day off, but it is their job to get content out.  If they choose not to do that, then they should expect feedback accordingly.

This has nothing to do with enjoying getting to a cup final, but you can add to our problems by using it to paper over the cracks if you wish 👍

Assume media having a well earned day off?

    Well earned?

Our internal media did next to nothing in the build up to the game, posted about 12 updates during the game and an amateur hour video of the players on the pitch at the end.

The old media team had fans bouncing in the build up, posted plenty of match updates (also more entertaining/interesting ones) and had reports online before we were home in previous seasons.

CTO reports are miles better, and I don't miss the club stuff that much, but the idea that they're having a well earned day off is pushing things!
