  1. Booked my return journey from Stonehaven to Waverley for the princely sum of ?20 (two singles cheaper than a return). Guess it would be about the same for anyone travelling down from Aberdeen.
  2. According the Guardian Grasser made contact with Lennon's agent but was quoted a salary of ?500,000 which was apparently a wee bit out of our league. Lennon was supposedly receptive to the idea in principle. Can you imagine the apopelxy amongst the legion of hand wringers on here if we'd gone down that path. I seem to remember reading that Lennon has family up North who follow ICT.
  3. What a load of garbage. A fair few folk on this forum need to get a fecking grip. :33:
  4. Ymip shakes head, switches off pc and hopes this thread will have self combusted by the morning. The lunatics appear to have finally taken over the asylum. :019:
  5. King Caley - in the name of god give yer head a shake mun.... I seriously question the wisdom of giving people the freedom to express their opinions on an open forum such as this when you read the drivel that has been spouted on here of late. Outsiders looking in must be p.issing themselves. I just don't get this Warnock mania that seems to be sweeping the forum. The guy is obviously a capable enough manager but he strikes me as obnoxious and unbearably arrogant. The fact that he seems to be universally unpopular with those who've encountered him south of the border surely speaks volumes. He'd last about five minutes at ICT in the highly unlikely event that he was given the job. Reality check needed all round folks.
  6. I stand corrected P-I-G. I completely forgot he was at Chester. Was just discussing our managerial vacancy with Trinidadman (ex of this forum) and he's proposing Rocky Corbett for the post whereas I'm favouring a return to the "Fat John, Skinny John" Beaton/Docherty dream ticket.
  7. Can?t stand Warnock and don?t believe for a minute he would seriously consider the position. Heaven forbid he was actually serious he?d last about five minutes before the toys came out the pram and he?d be off down the road. I?m a little surprised Blobby Williamson?s has not been mentioned in dispatches. Not a fan but he?s currently between jobs is he not.
  8. Just been listening to Kevin MacDonald on Sky Sports News standing in for Staunton. Always wondered how he'd handle the ICT job but I can't really see him jacking his gigs with Villa and the Republic to come home to the sneck. Doubt he'd take the pay cut to be honest. Maybe brother Jeff could make up the diffeence. I've mixed emotions regarding Brewster but he'd be head and shoulders ahead of most of the plums quoted on here. :029:

    Pre-Merger

Charles , The point I was trying to make was that in my eyes Caley effectively consumed the Jags and as such I tend to consider ICT as a continuation of the Caley heritage. I'm sure others will disgaree but hey, ho. I'm not trying to be antagonistic it's just my take on events and I would reiterate I'm fully committed to ICT and continued SPL football in the sneck. We'll just have to agree to disagree on the quantitative and qualitative effect of the refusenik situation.

Charles - to suggest the refuseniks only amount to a few dozen is absolute nonsense. I seldom see hardcore Howden Enders at TCS and would suggest that the true figure would be well into the hundreds. Same applies to ex Jaggies but I'm sure our red and black friends could confirm or deny this figure. If you could trace the whereabouts of the entire support at the last Caley - Jags game at Telford Street I would imagine a very high proportion have never followed ICT. We lost a lot of diehard Invernessian football people who would have created a real hardcore support which ICT has consistently struggled to create over the years. I also disagree with your asertion that Caley couldn't have thrived in the Scottish League on their own. How exactly do you reconcile this suggestion with the fact that County did reasonably well up until we point we were promoted to the SPL? I refuse to accept that the 5,000 fans Caley took to McDiarmid Park on a miserable midweek night in 1992 couldn't have kept us afloat a mere two seasons later. The merger is history. I didn't like it and have never truly accepted it was a merger rather than a takeover. Time moves on and I'm proud of what ICT has achieved but there will always be a part of me that hankers after the good old days at Telford Street.

Caley and Clach have won the HL the same number of times (18 each). Obviously somewhat skewed by the fact we departed the in 94. Good link to historic HL winners below. Illustrates the fact that over the piece (pre and post war) Caley were THE team in the highlands :blah01:: http://www.rsssf.com/tabless/scot-highchamp.html

Elgin bigger than Caley ?!!?.....behave yirsel mun..... Just goes to show you lot weren't dubbed the fools on the hill for nothing. :004:
  13. Look at the squad - loads of attacking options but no defenders...... I presume Watt is not fit but I'd still stick Guy Kerr or Ally MacDonald on the bench as cover.
  14. Yessss! Go on Rosscoe
  15. Nice pics Mantis. SMEE, Bob, Kevin and Wilsy all commuted from Aberdeen. Both Kevin and Wilsy were signed from Dundee but are Aiberdeen loons. Legends. :clapping03:
  16. That was me with the puking offspring :029: He was right as rain after his projecticle hughie. However, I thought it was prudent to head for home in case there was a repeat performace brewing. Nightmare......
  17. Glad to see you missed ymip jr throwing up all over the Harlaw terracing :029: The excitement was clearly too much for the young lad and we departed just minutes into the first half. Very disappointed by the turnout on our side. There couldn't have been more than a dozen or so diehards in attendance.
  18. As Your Man in Paris is now Your Man in Stonehaven I will be in attendance at Inverurie. Mrs. ymip is over in Paris this weekend so the Ymip Young Team will also be in attendance at Harlaw. First match for both of them - but the indoctrination is already well under way. Re. accommodation - I can't think of anywhere off the top of my head but there's plenty of options. Footnote: Mate from Inverurie suggested Kintore Arms (Inverurie - bit of a lively bar at weekend), Strathburn Hotel (Inverurie), Torryburn (Kintore), Redgarth (Oldmeldrum) or Udny Green Hotel (Udny Green).Hope this helps.
  19. Been doing a bit of digging and it would appear that Martin Pusic actualy played for First Vienna FC 1894. Clicky: http://www.fcvienna.com/php/index.php?catI...etail=212051123 They were histrorically one of the big clubs in Austria but now play in Regionalliga Ost (Regional 3rd division I believe). Can't find details regarding his stats for last season.
  20. Tickets available on both Ticketnet and Fnac yesterday but selling fast. No problem using a UK address/credit card for those folk enquiring earlier.
  21. Did you see the sitter Beasley missed in the dying seconds of the Gold Cup final - Van Vosen-esque!
  22. ICTDave - I've already got a load of mates chasing me for tickets but I've no guarantee of getting sorted myself and will be trying my hand on the above sites when the tickets are released. I'll also be asking friends in Paris to buy them over the counter if possible. If I end up with a few tickets you never know but I expect the tickets for the France end to sell very quickly due to the importance of the match and the fact that France no longer play at the Parc des Princes is an added novelty factor for the locals. Exiled ICT is spot on regarding the rugby world cup which is a big deal here in France. England are playing South Africa at the Stade de France on the Friday after the game so bedspaces are going to be as rare as rocking horse sh.it and the streets will be awash with hooray henry ruggah types.
  23. You're almost right Chris. There was a young black guy who'd been released by Man City up on trial for a couple of weeks several years back. I forget his name but I think he might have played a couple of reserve games but was never near the first team.
  24. French Football Federation: www.fff.fr Ticketnet page for France/Scotland notification: http://www.ticketnet.fr/shop/fr/manif.asp?...mp;idtier=78768 Also check: www.fnac.com and look under "spectacles"
  25. I would also advise you to look into hotels early doors as there's a real problem with regards lack of bedspaces in the city. What is available tends to be pretty expensive. Another point to bear in mind is the fact that the game is at the Parc des Princes which has a much smaller capacity (44,500) than the Stade de France (80,00) so tickets are going to be at a premium. I'm leaving Paris next week after eight years out here but I'm planning on being back for the game. It's going to be difficult to lay my hands on a ticket for the Scotland end but I'm fairly confident of securing a ticket in the France end. :004:
