Scored a record equalling 59 yesterday in the 2nd round of the Boise Open in the US. Great round and he speaks with a slightly more American drawl when interviewed by US commentator ;-)

Well done - hopefully goes well in the next two days and the rest of the season.

Russell going well in Scottish Open. -4 after 17. Early days yet but he is top Scot at moment and inside top world 100. If he has a good week maybe a wee chance to qualify for British Open.

It really has been some achievement by this laddie from Inverschneck. Current WR 99, Mark Warren 161, Peter Whiteford 522, Richie Ramsay 166, Alastair Forsyth 1135, Stephen Gallacher 37, Paul Lawrie 209, Martin Laird 156. Unless I'm completely wrong, he is currently No2 Scot in world .

He's doing really well, so far, in Aberdeen. What a pity he didn't come to the Castle Stuart tournaments. But, yeah, he's no 2 Scot in the rankings - behind Stephen Gallacher.

Gallacher, of course is unfortunate in that he's better known, not for his golf, but as the relation of that one off the TV with the big boobs!

Bernard Gallacher.

I don't think it was a case that he didn't come to Castle Stuart Sneckboy it was more a case that he didn't get an invitation. A pity, I agree.

He apparently had an invitation but turned it down to concentrate on keeping his card in US. Right decision in the end.

Just gone through the front nine in -3 but would have been a lot better if not for a double on the 9th. A long way to go though but would be nice to see him pick up one of those 3 Open spots.

Play is underway at the US PGA golf championship. Russell Knox is one of only 4 Scots in the field. (Scottish no 1 Stephen Gallacher, the now 'senior' Colin Montgomerie and on-form Marc Warren are the others).

It's only Russell's 2nd ever Major tournament. His previous being last years US Open - where he did well, and made the cut. So best of luck to him...although he's made an indifferent start!

At this moment he's +4 after after 15 holes!

I see that Knox is now at a career high of 77 in the world rankings!

Just discovered that Russell Knox is the brother of former MFR DJ 'Foxy Knoxy' !

A good effort indeed! He's making his debut in the British Open this week and is obviously in good form, and he's back up to no.73 in the World Rankings - equalling his career high.

He's doing a superb job! It would certainly be a career high if he was to land that big title.
It's a pity he's not currently eligible for Ryder Cup qualification!

Absolutely superb! He'll climb to a new career high (or should that be low?!) World Ranking, too. The list isn't usually, officially published until Monday, when all the worldwide event results are known - but it's estimated that he'll now be ranked n the 30s...
His cheque for winning is a staggering $1,400,000 !!!
Let's get him (and his wallet) on the Inverness CT board!

Edit to change '£' to '$'
(still a prize worth getting out of bed for!)

It's a World Ranking of no. 31 for Knox. (10th ranked European)!
He's hinted at playing a lot more European Tour events in the coming year with a view to meeting the eligibility for possible Ryder Cup selection.

Russell has just missed out on a second successive win, losing out in a play off to Graeme Macdowell in Mexico.  Another big pay day!

That will take him to over £1 million in just over a week, not bad for playing golf

And he's up to no. 29 in the World Rankings!

New career-high world ranking for Torvean's finest... now no.28, just behind 27th rated Phil Mickelson.

Good to see Russell competing well again this week, after a poor Masters, with a tied 2nd place (with Luke Donald) in the RBC Heritage tournament at Hilton Head, South Carolina.   As an aside, I played a few courses on Hilton Head Island about 20 years ago with 3 pals, but even back then the Harbour Town course, where this week's competition was held, cost $250 a round, and was way out of our league.
