  1. Since Caley Thistle were formed Ian Broadfoot has kept a huge set of stats that do include a lot of these games. However, when recording or trotting out things like appearances, goals etc they have never been included in them because the fixtures are not classed as competitive fixtures. We are working on our stats program now that Ian has retired and we will include lineups and goals etc in there for these games where we can but we will do it in such a way that it does not skew the 'proper' stats If Highland League teams want to class them as competitive fixtures then that is up to them, but teams in the senior leagues dont tend to include these kinds of fixtures .... The Scottish leagues (and upwards to UEFA and FIFA for things like the Golden Boot) also do not count appearances and goals from competitions like this in their stats - could you imagine .... Marius Niculae scores 5 goals in each round of the North or Inverness Cup (or both) and is suddenly classed as top scorer in the SPL ? and goes on to win the Golden Boot, a nice thought but it doesnt really make sense does it !
  2. for 'soccer' in North America, Setanta seem to have linked up with iTVN [http://www.itvn.com] to offer broadband access to some of their games for a monthly subscription .... It's a little progress perhaps, but I have heard horror stories about people in Canada ordering the receivers from the states and being hit with huge import taxes or delivery problems .... not to mention the unverified signal quality. no supplier this side of the border yet for me to try it !
  3. pretty much. It's a credit card sized ID card that allows me to work, pay taxes, swap my UK driving license for an Ontario one, pay taxes, Get my UK passport renewal issued from Ottawa, pay taxes, Get my Ontario health coverage (think NHS), pay taxes ....... but what it doesnt allow me to do is vote in municipal, provincial and federal elections, or claim 'welfare' should the need arise, these only come if I decide to go for citizenship and become one of these dual-nationality bods ..... oh, and I need to have it with me in addition to my passport when I leave or enter the country.
  4. cant say I have had any problems with posting SP. anyone else ?
  5. North of Scotland Cup, Inverness Cup or any other 'regional' cups are not classed as 'competitive' fixtures for the purposes of record keeping and stats
  6. Ian. kicked it and splattered paint all over the tunnel
  7. cant be bothered going hunting on the home office site - but a player who had "lived in Scotland all their life but never gained citizenship" would have documentation of some sort allowing them to remain in the country possibly because of parentage or after a number of years because of naturalisation. In my own situation, I am classed as a 'permanent resident' despite not having citizenship of Canada. Because I have been here for more than 3 years, I am eligible to apply for citizenship if I wish, but if not, all I need to do is renew my permanent resident card after 5 years and all is good ..... I am, in effect, a 'naturalised' Canadian (which will always be second to 'born Scottish') !!!
  8. I'm with CaleyD on this one .... its great when an opposition player (goalie or otherwise) can get the banter with the fans .... John Hughes used to do it, Andy Goram did it with the ICT fans in the cup game V Rangers more than 10 years ago, and Bullock was always good like that too despite the torrents of abuse he received for merely being a County player. As for TB's 'incident' - although, I also taunted him after his conviction, I believe it had more to do with drunken stupidity on a night out than other far worse things that could get you on 'the list'. Do I condone it ? no I dont, but I am sure some of the taunting he gets is over the top and he just shrugs it off so fair play to him. It constantly amazes me that fans (myself included) get so angry when a player reacts to taunting - its almost like we think we have a divine right to abuse someone for most of the match but they cant give us a GIRFUY sign when their team scores. I have seen it taken too far - that wee nyaff McCall and the paint tin for example, or the ball boy incident mentioned above but even they could be said to be heat of the moment and so long as an apology or similar is forthcoming (like the gloves to the ballboy) then it can be forgiven - still think McCall owes the club for that paint though !!!
  9. we never played DUFC when we were in division 1 - see above.
  10. ICT V Rangers 95/96 - Scottish Cup: 1 loss 04/05 - SPL: 1 loss, 2 draws 05/06 - SPL: 2 losses, 1 draw 06/07 - SPL: 2 wins, 1 draw
  11. Record against DUFC ..... pretty even to be fair ! 97/98 - Scottish Cup: 1 draw at Tannadice, 1 extra time loss at Caledonian Stadium 04/05 - SPL: 2 draws, 2 losses 05/06 - SPL: 2 draws, 2 wins / League Cup: 1 win 06/07 - SPL: 2 draws, 1 win, 1 loss / Scottish Cup: 1 win P16 W5 L4 D7 F17 A19
  12. Aberdeen League Cup - 1 loss Sc Cup - 1 draw 2 losses League - 6 draws, 3 losses Berwick Coca Cola (League) Cup - 1 loss Bells (challenge) Cup) - 1 loss Elgin no competitive fixtures against Elgin so no wins or losses ! of the other teams people have mentioned ...... Morton - 8 games in Div1 - 5 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw Partick - 4 in Div2 - 3 wins, 1 loss. 4 in Div1 - 1 win, 3 losses. 1 CIS Cup win, 4 Sc Cup, 2 draws, 2 losses Queens Park - 12 in Div3 - 7 wins, 3 draws, 2 losses. 1 Sc Cup win, 1 CIS Cup loss Peterhead - 1 CIS Cup win, 1 Bells Cup win Gretna - 1 Bells cup win
  13. The comparison with Bayne is a very good one. I would even throw Keogh into that mix. Both players came to us as strikers but neither are/were prolific and in Keogh's case he ended up becoming a midfielder before being released in the end ..... but our fans love(d) both. Why ? EFFORT !!! If Rory can't put in the effort (which seems to be a bit of a consensus), then the fans are not going to sit back and take it lightly. I know he is a young lad, a bright prospect etc etc etc .... but those excuses wore thin a long time ago. A striker who can't score goals (and the stats prove it) and also looks like he isn't trying is a luxury we cant afford and Charlie pretty much only has two choices - keep the lad and maybe send him out on loan to find his scoring boots, or ditch him because he's just not going to make it.
  14. Click MY PREDICTIONS when in the PL pages to enter predictions. will default to next set of fixtures but can change week number from dropdown. might want to read this thread ... EXPLANATION OF NEW PL
  15. Actually, after a reasonably successful Gold Cup they are 65th ... but to be fair, Scotland was signed before that ....
  16. Morgan has good skills but seems to lack effort - he is good on the left when he applies himself but being behind Mcbain, Rankin & Paatelainen in the pecking order may not motivate him very well Paatelainen will be good this season both in providing decent crosses and pitching in with the odd goal. Used sparingly last season, I think we will see more of him this year but probably as a sub as McBain or Rankin would seem to be Charlie's choice for the left side. Zander is a really exciting prospect (to be used wisely rather than over-used, I would hope). Like Markus, I think we will see Zander as a sub, coming on for Barry as he tires in the second half. Give Barry a nod to work his socks of for 60 minutes, then let Zander come on and terrorise teams for the las 30 mins.
  17. ohh my god ...... wait till Mee see's this post :shooting05: :hiding03:

  20. pretty much I think the sluggish starts were more of an issue when Paterson was at the club - we were indeed notorious for them at that time ... but the good thing was, once we got going, we were like Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut in X-Men :crazy07:
  21. Havent got the stats all loaded up yet but 2006/07 - first six fixtures LDDDLW (loss to St Mirren, Hearts, Drew Aberdeen, Hibs, Celtic. beat Motherwell.) 2005/06 - first six fixtures WLWDDL (loss to Rangers, Motherwell, beat Falkirk, Pars. Drew Killie, DUFC). 2004/05 - first six fixtures LWLLLL (first SPL season) losses to Livi, Celtic, DUFC, Hibs, Rangers. Win V Pars).
  22. ok Kingsmills - thanks for clearing that up. as i said, I couldnt find anything online to back up that suggestion so wasnt sure .... however - I still havent heard anyone say it has been denied and we need to appeal, just that its taking a long time .... does anyone know the current status for sure ?
  23. no-one has actually said it has been denied, merely that it was taking longer ? I havent been able to find the documentation to prove this one way or the other, but it has been suggested to me that the international football criteria for Romanian and Bulgarian applications is null and void and that the permit doesnt hinge on this. However, the application may be more complicated (and therefore take longer to process) depending on his contract ...... from what we have heard he has a footballing contract that doesnt break the wage scale and this would suggest that his top-up contract may be coming directly from the Chairman's company. In effect he would have two employers and would need to be granted status for each 'position' ....
  24. sure it wasnt someone else wearing a Bavidge mask ???
