  1. Charlie has been around the club for the same length of time that this board has .... over the years I had quite a few conversations with him about the postings on all the various incarnations of this site although admittedly none of these chats happened after he became manager. Prior to becoming manager he saw the site as a good place to disseminate information such as the centenary club winners, asked me to organise things like request/enquiry forms that would email him directly and a few other things. His observations on the forum were something along the lines that it was quite close to the bone sometimes but that he was never really bothered by anything on it as half the people hid behind pseudonyms and you dont pay much attention to a pseudonym. I have no reason to think his recent thoughts were any different.
  2. Dunno about that, in the mid 80s, about 1 in 3 workers in Inverness always seemed to be Geordies ... especially in bars !
  3. Thats actually not the stupidest suggestion in here, in fact it is one that may have some merit ! I have always thought Bobby was a decent manager and got thoroughly shafted over the bridge.
  4. Rowan Alexander ..... all I can say is no....No....NO....NO....NO....NO Forget Gretna, just ask any Queen of the South fans !!!!
  5. democracy is wonderful, until we actually get it :rotflmao: For me, I guess I will wait and see what names are seriously in the frame before saying who my preference is ...... but as we are going down the blunderbuss route of mentioning as many names as possible and seeing which ones might be correct, here's a couple of additional names that might be mentioned ..... Hagi and/or Popescu !!!
  6. so which two of our 27,000 midfielders would get the nod ?
  7. not in a million years !!!! The jury is still well and truly out on Mo Johnston with some thinking he is doing ok and others thinking he is total and utter mince. I am on the fence on that one - some of the things he has done have been decent, others have defied explanation ..... he is not a serious candidate to manage ANY SPL team
  8. This thread is for those of us who want to send personal messages of support and gratitude to Charlie for his contribution to our club. There are plenty of threads where opinions are divided or where he is being lambasted so if negative comments are your thing, feel free to use one of the other threads ... this is for positive comments only and I have no qualms in saying that negative comments will be deleted (or moved) from this thread. My own comment - is simple. Thank You and Good Luck. As I said in another thread, Charlie wasnt sacked, he stepped aside because of the damage this position was doing to him and his family and I applaud him for making such a brave decision. I was 100% behind him from the very start, and was still 100% behind him this morning. It is a sad day for our club. I for one will continue to pronounce the word legend as 'ledge'-end when talking of CC and ICT as opposed to some who have always and will likely continue to use 'leg'-end instead.
  9. OK - as the original post has been edited, I will make my answer a little shorter than intended (thank goodness say most posters !!) The board of directors and Chairman are in charge of the whole club. The chief executive is in charge of the operation of the actual business including a few things on matchdays, and the team coaches and players are responsible for what happens on the park. I do not believe CC's decision to quit has anything to do with our chief executive as his 'line management' route is exactly the same as the chief executive's ... ie. they both report directly to the board and the chairman, not to each other. At the end of the day, the coach is measured on how many points we get and where we finish in the league. The chief exec is measured on how the balance sheet looks and the one that was sent out recently looked pretty **** healthy. Do fans like him ? There is plenty of evidence to say that no they dont - whether that be because of the singing section, personal dealings or anything else, but the bottom line is just that, the bottom line, and the recent one published in black and white for all shareholders to see suggests he is managing costs, making the club more profitable, and therefore doing his job. I know fans are lashing out just now and trying to find a scapegoat or someone to blame for the current situation, but this time, the crosshairs do not deserve to be lined up against MS !!!
  10. I think this thread is a little unfair and close to being defamatory. I do not believe that Mike Smith is the cause of the problems we currently have on the park as he has absolutely nothing to do with that side of the club. As I have had extensive dealings with the man in the last couple of years I will elaborate on my opinions a little further very shortly but as its likely to be a long answer, I have to go for a coffee first !!!
  11. Charlie wasnt sacked, he stepped aside because of the damage this position was doing to him and his family and I applaud him for such a brave decision. Sergei Baltacha - P40 W13 - 32.5% - Div 3 Steve Paterson - P325 W152 - 46.77% - Div 3, Div2, Div 1 John Robertson - P82 W44 - 53.66% - Div1, SPL Craig Brewster - P50 W17 - 34% - SPL Charlie Christie - P63 W21 - 33.33% - SPL Thats the stats of our managers !! Charlie Christie's record is NOT that bad considering his only covers the SPL where we are a small fish in a large pond. Both Pele and Robbo who are statistically our best managers have figures padded by excellent runs in the lower divisions (Robbo's SPL record is P14 W4 or 28.57%). The board have, in my opinion, always appointed the best available manager from the candidates that have expressed an interest and that includes Charlie Christie. Now that CC has stepped down, I have faith that they will once again appoint the best candidate from those that apply. To suggest a committee of fans, is, in my opinion, ludicrous. We will of course give our opinions as names emerge, but that should be the extent of our involvement. - attached file - Manager Stats for those that are interested. managers.xls

    POTY

It is where it has always been and that is on the right hand side of page on main site - although, the poll may say no voting available if your session has timed out so you might have to logout and back in again. It is also available from the main menu on the left side of the page under footy features > polls As we have said time and time and time and time again, the forum and the main site are SEPARATE areas of the site that use different programs to provide functionality. we have bridged them as best we can so that logging into one area logs you into both but there are some limitations and you need to navigate to the main site for some things..... thats why its called the main site !!! Unfortunately we cant just bung a link in wherever we want within the forum structure, it is WAY more complicated than that. thats why we DO bung a link into the VERY FIRST POST of each matchday thread !
  14. not if he didnt close the curtains in the penthouse it wouldnt ...... :crazy07:
  15. I believe the the answer is 2 - one season coming through the leagues, and last season.

  17. There is a site called internetfootball.co.uk which is a legitimate site that now has major sponsorship from the Daily Record and is the 'official partner' of a couple of clubs meaning they are allowed to show the footage. I know that one or two site users have taken advantage of their coverage but reports on the quality and consistency of the signal vary. any other sites are illegal and I wouldnt do PPV from them - have heard lots of horror stories !
  18. There was a website dedicated to bypassing the BBC blocking measures but it was hit with legal action and shut down pretty quick ..... unfortunately, you get used to it and my initial optmism that I could bypass the system was replaced with 'cant be @rsed' !! The solution is for ICT to do what other clubs with PTV sites have done and that is to enable the "<insert club name> WORLD" service ... got to the Rangers, Kilmarnock, Hearts or some of the other SPL sites provided by PTV and you can buy audio/video packages right off the site .... go to the ICT one and nothing. nada. zip.
  19. If its Charleston - this link will do ya : GOOGLE MAPS If its the Royal Academy - this link might be better :004: GOOGLE MAPS
  20. yeah - we stuck that up as a laugh - but send your contact info to CaleyD and we will organise your winnings :001:
  21. matchprogram@caleythistleonline.com also forwards to his email address
  22. According to the member map we have a few users located in the states - dont know them so not sure if they are immigrants or citizens ! - might be worth a few PMs !
  23. It never used to be an issue and on the face of it the problem doesnt seem that complex, find a uk based proxy server, set your browser to use that and hey presto the BBC thinks you are in the UK ..... but wait, it cant be that easy ...... and it isnt. I am not sure how the BBC do it, but their techs have managed to make the security and location detection very strong, especially if you use real player and I have yet to get it to work any time I have tried ..... on days when ICT matches arent available, i tend to just listen to whichever game is available and wait for the half-time and full-time reports
  24. What is it with IHE and showing off bits of his body ...... this snap recently taken outside his work
