  1. Dunfermline say they will "now take time to interview and appoint a new permanent head coach over the next few weeks".... before naming the people they have "allegedly" already chosen (John Robertson and Donald Park) as their new dream team. there was a right kerfuffle about the appointment of Brewster, and the fact it was a done deal long before CC quit, but this has similar hallmarks ..... a series of astonishing coincidences maybe :023: --- Robbo comes back to Scotland for a few days to sort out his head (and future) leaving Derry City rudderless --- Robbo seen in Inverness (not unsurprisingly), and at the TCS --- A few days later Park quits ICT for family reasons --- A few more days later Park says he is looking for a football job in the central belt somewhere --- A further few days later, Kenny is sacked by Dunfermline (and probably goes back to Derry) --- just waiting for the last piece of the jigsaw to be put in place :014:
  2. There was an article posted on official site earlier in the day. Morgan is surpluss to requirements and his contract is not being renewed. Brew feels the lad will benifit from finding a team where he'll get regular first team football. no disrespect intended Alex, and not that its a huge issue, but the reserve game report was published 2 hours and 49 minutes earlier than the announcement about his contract not being renewed. I can assure you that although the report was there earlier in the day, the announcement was not. It was reading that part of the reserve report that surprised me into making my comment !!!!
  3. Yeah, good luck to the lad wherever he ends up. I dont mean this in a cruel way, but I would far rather see him move on than some of the other names that have been mentioned recently.

    Black Shirts

we knew beforehand - not much beforehand, but in enough time for Tommy to organise the kit.

It is registered as the official away strip and on that basis I understand that the club can ask to play in it for any match (home or away) but I believe the final decision is up to the referee and he may request a change if he feels that players on the park, (or TV cameras ?) may be unable to distinguish it from the opposition kit. Classic example of this is the strip we played in when we beat Hearts at Tynecastle in the cup ..... At that time our normal strip was vertical red/blue stripes and under floodlighting it took on a maroon appearance for players on the park. As Hearts were playing in their traditional kit that day, and the lights were on because of the time of year, we had to change to a different, older home kit, which happened to be the same one we used in 'that' game at Parkhead with a sharp logo hastily ironed on the front. Probably one of the reasons many of us like that strip so much ......
  6. "Alan Morgan played his last game for the club" :024:
  7. Yup. late substitutions - and I am talking about like for like substitutions - are fine when you are winning but dont seem so clever when you are losing. I would have one caveat ... and that is if you have just had a goal scored against you and are perhaps taking off a defender and throwing on an extra striker in an effort to score a late equaliser/winner From listening to the radio at the weekend, I would have to say that I got the impression that Brewster got his tactics spot on for the whole game this time so fair play to him.
  8. no you are incorrect. ONE post was deemed racist and it was removed. All other posts that referenced that original post (by containing it as a quote) were not in themselves deemed racist (ie. they were OK) but were also removed as I did not have the time or inclination to go in and edit each one individually to remove the original quote from them all. Any further discussions regarding moderation of this thread should be done in accordance with the site rules.
  9. remarks we considered to be racist in nature were removed and the poster given an official warning for breach of site rules. Apologies to those who posted legitimate (non-racist) responses to the original comment but I just removed all comments that made reference to the original remark.
  10. As you well know .... ability is not the only factor in Scotland call ups !!! We could however point to Richard Hastings who has had plenty of full international caps for Canada whilst at ICT .... and before you say it, Canada are an improving national side and were, during Berti's reign, above Scotland in the rankings for much of 2005.
  11. quite possibly ......
  12. Valid subject, but hard to define what is acceptable ... i guess its down to the person for me, its acceptable to think someone is not up to the task, its also acceptable to express that opinion on a message board as it is an opinion and people can agree with it or not. However, as two-faced as it might seem, I would stop short of booing or berating that player the moment they pull on an ICT shirt on a matchday as at that time they are deserving of my support in the hope that together with the rest of the team they can win the game. We have heard a lot about this recently regarding McAllister in particular and I dont think booing him is having any positive effect. It is not however a new phenomenon and I remember sitting above the tunnel when the old guys behind me would constantly get on Paul Ritchie's case ... even when he was having a good game. We turned it on its head and myself, Big Stu and others around us would cheer Paul Ritchie every time the old boys would berate him and it soon stopped them :015:

    Happy Yet?

I hesitate to post this in this thread as I may be taking it off topic myself (we can move it to its own thread if merited), but here goes ...... You were probably not aware of the moved posts because most of them were not made by you but were a case of others jumping on the "lets have a go at the moderators" bandwagon which really has to stop. I accept that moderators will not get it right all the time, and neither will myself and/or Donald but at the end of the day, we have a mechanism in place and also a private message system available, so that anyone with a concern over the running of the site can raise this without clogging up perfectly good threads and taking them off-topic. There is no suggestion of trying to moderate opinion or banter when it falls within the site rules, but when that opinion or banter drops a few notches and becomes abuse or a pop at moderators in a thread that has nothing to do with it then we will move or remove those posts. As I said above, the posts we moved or removed were off-topic posts and my "raised voice" - which was not intended to be viewed as being directed at any single poster - earlier in the thread was a response to this. I have had quite a few private messages over the weekend regarding the moderation of users or threads and have responded to most of these privately, but one theme that seems to emerge from most of these messages is the idea that moderators or admin are here for the sole benefit of site users, and as "staff" should not be allowed to express an opinion or be afforded those same benefits that users themselves demand which is to be allowed to post their own opinions. That is utter garbage !!! For 5 years when the site was official, my own opinion had to be stifled or sanitised to toe the "party line" as it were. The minute this site went back to being unofficial, every single person from admin to regular poster was given a **** of a lot more freedom to post what they wanted, when they wanted (within the rules we created). Take a look at how the BBC comment site has changed in the last two years, take a look at any clubs in the SPL with a club run forum (if you can find one), take a look at quite a few other public forums and you will find that we are a lot less draconian in our outlook than many. We take no pleasure in moderating anyone, we take no pleasure in having confrontations with posters who others have complained are abusive. We just want to talk about ICT the same as everybody else. The people that come on here (with the exception of our opposition supporting visitors) are without doubt truly passionate about ICT. In a lot of cases, these people are living well outside the ICT catchment area and use this site to keep in touch as well as making long and convoluted journeys to go and watch the team. Because of all the turmoil of this season, and the fact that things behind the scenes seem to stink just a little bit, a lot of these passionate people are feeling quite "wounded" at the moment. One thing about wounded individuals (and animals) is that they tend to lash out, sometimes in directions where it is not deserved and in my eyes, this is what is happening. All through this season we have seen portions of the forum descend from informed debate where everyone can have a viewpoint to a complete and utter slagfest where that anger is being directed at the wrong people or indeed where abuse is being handed out. Every thread seems to go from debate to argument to cyber fistfight in very short order and it cannot and will not be allowed to continue this way. When the effort required to run this site by unpaid volunteers who give up time or pay money out of their own pockets to provide this service to other ICT fans becomes thoroughly unenjoyable because of the actions of a small minority then it is time to re-evaluate the whole thing. We were forced to temporarily close down this site earlier in the year because of behaviour like this and although I have no intention of doing that again, it would not phase me in the slightest if we ended up with only 25 "quality" posters who could hold a decent, informed and intellectual debate with different viewpoints that can be agreed or disagreed with, rather than the current state where we have 200+ regular posters, the minority of whom seem intent on immediately hijacking threads and turning everything into yet another slagfest. As to the thread question ... Happy Yet ? .... my answer remains the same ... no, not yet, but the signs after the last couple of games are encouraging. I hope I will be able to say a similar thing about the website after the next couple of games.
  14. lol - perhaps but the story is still weak .... and the film changes a big portion of it does it not ? I thought that in the traditional story, Beowulf killed Grendel's mother rather than jumped into bed with her, and he was also king of his own lands rather than of Hroogar's before returning to slay the dragon rather than have it turn up when the horn was brought to hm ......

    Happy Yet?

yes you are, but its not your fault. You are missing the raft of posts we have had to remove or split to another thread.
  16. Who is MC ? :004:
  17. they didnt call the team inverness united because clach refused to join in the amalgamation I dont think Inverness United was ever considered for a name or discarded because of Clach ! (Perhaps CB can confirm if he has stopped with his fartleks) However, had it been the case that the club did want that name, the poster is correct in saying that Inverness United could not have been used as it was already registered with the SFA because a welfare/amateur side was using it.
  18. I think ICT could probably have a fairly even match with TFC ..... the result would depend on which ICT and which TFC turned up as watching both sides can be a real roller coaster.
  19. Saw Beowulf last night and not sure what to make of it .... stunning animation to the point where you werent totally sure if bits of it were animated or inter-cut with live action footage ..... turns out everything is animated but the green screen method used by Zemeckis allowed some of the characters (Anthony Hopkins / Angelina Jolie) to look 100% life like ! The quality of the animation was part of its downfall for me .... I spent too much time wondering if any of it was live action and then when I realised it was not, spent more time in awe of the quality. The story itself is very weak and if it were truly a live action film it would probably have tanked badly !

    Happy Yet?

OK - I am getting to the stage where I have to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH Hamish is quite right, the pendulum has swung from Believe to Moan quite significantly and part of that seems to be a belief that "if i cant have a go at the team or the club, I will have a go at the moderators of this site". FOR THOSE OF YOU DOING THAT - I TELL YOU NOW ---- THAT STOPS !!! RIGHT HERE. RIGHT NOW. 1. Everyone who assists in the running of this site does their little bit free of charge. nothing is official and no-one is paid. Its very big of so many of you to take the time to slag off people who are trying to make sure this runs smoothly for your benefit. 2. Moderators are normal posters too. If they want to post their opinions they are free to do so (within the rules). They are only moderators when performing administrative duties and to anyone with a modicum of intelligence, the instances of this should be quite apparent. Unfortunately, they cannot remove the little moderator logo from their profile so that those who are unable to distinguish these instances can be in no doubt. 3. Please read site rules, especially for information regarding "back seat moderating". From now on, we will be telling the moderators to apply these rules more strictly and will delete any instances we feel require it. We had previously told them to use a bit of common sense in the application of the rules but as certain posters seem to think they have a divine right to say how this site should be run that latitude is now gone.
  21. I dont believe so. I didnt see any massive influx of support when our name was Caledonian Thistle and doubt it has any major impact or effect.

    Happy Yet?

opinions dont get moderated ..... abuse does. Your argument also does not hold the slightest bit of water as every post IHE makes currently is moderated. If you want to have a philisophical discussion about how the site is moderated please start a thread about it elsewhere ... but remember to read the site rules first ! Please refrain from name calling. Again, another post that is not backed up by any kind of facts. I cant find any posts moaning about the timing of Brew's subs today ... or last week for that matter .... I think you will find that most posters who moaned about the timing of his substitutions did so from the point of view of wondering why he was doing them so late when we were losing. Making a late substitution is generally regarded as a sensible tactic to run down the clock when you are winning. In response to the actual topic .... Happy Yet ? The answer would be no. A couple of results dont disguise the fact that we have a long way to go yet before we can be truly happy. However last week - where we nicked three points we didnt really deserve - and this week, where we seemed to have a gameplan, dominated in midfield and put up a solid showing at the back for the whole game do give cause for encouragement. I still say the transfer window will be a good indicator of how the rest ofthe season will shape up .......
  23. didnt vanish - was merged into the matchday thread where we try to keep match talk that isnt deserving of its own separate thread ..... will close this thread rather than merge so you can see it :004: PS - thanks for the honest opinion.
  24. While I agree in principle with what you are saying, lets not forget we have had a few decent or even excellent signings from OTB .... look at today's team for instance .... anyone complaining about John Rankin or Don Cowie ???
  25. Who the feck didnt pay the phone bill in Dundee !!!!
