  1. We knew when he signed that ICT was viewed as a 'stepping stone' as he was honest enough to say so. He said something along the lines that he hoped playing well for ICT would get him back into the Romanian national side as well as a possible move to one half of the OF .... I kinda hope he sticks around for a while as he seems to be just getting going but if someone does come in for him then fair play ... no-one can say we didnt know.
  2. which one :015: :015: :015:
  3. Are you suggesting that myself or Donald released his registration details to someone. Thats dangerous ground if you are !
  4. a pair of muppets !!! which about sums up the usual commentary team !!!
  5. As far as I know its permanent as his ICT contract ended on 1st January 2008. Both Kilmarnock and ICT have the same website provider and the player stats come from a third party so not surprising if its wrong on both sites ! Did you notice he seems to have developed schizophrenia ? he's both #11 and #14 on the Killie page.... infact on the Kille page I am looking at he is #11, #14, and #14 again !!!
  6. what crap commentary ..... makes me wish this weeks game was blocked :015: :015: :015: Irvine: "Caley were formed in the late 90s" Irvine: "Caley have a good record against Hibs, especially here at home ..... but this game is away." :029: Irvine: "Flicky Flackies" WTF :017:
  7. Hold on... Caff signed for St Johnstone? :004: :016: on loan till end of season with no recall clause so as good as signed for them permanently.
  8. I fancy Marius to score goal #1000 !!! although I would like Denzil - our record scorer - to get it.
  9. penalty - Rankin scores 2-0

  12. Dont see what the problem is ...... on any level Personally, I prefer a minute's silence myself, especially when it is observed by all and then followed by deafening noise as everyone applauds everyone else for being respectful, but apparently the O'Donnell family preferred to have applause in memory of Phil and as far as I am concerned, the wishes of the family would always over-ride my preference as a fan. so that should remove the argument about silence/applause. As for doing it tomorrow as well as a few days ago. As has been pointed out, the funeral was only today (streamed live on the BBC website I might add) and so many players/teams will still feel quite emotional and want to mark his passing on a traditional football day (ie. a Saturday). Add to that the fact that a number of teams did not play on Wednesday, and for those that did, their fans might not have made it to a midweek game so its only fitting that the whole of the SPL does it tomorrow. Even if you blow the last paragraph away, the other thing to consider is that the current tenants of Fir Park - who are our opponents tomorrow - are likely to have encountered Phil at some point this season both on and off the park and because their game was postponed on Wednesday, none of them - or their fans, whether 40 or 400 - have had the chance to pay their respects.
  13. I would like to see Dean get a chance !! By all accounts he has been pretty good in the reserves, and has scored a few goals. I know the reserves is a different kettle of fish to the first team and the likes of Rory was also quite prolific there too but less effective in the first team, but at least Rory has had a significant number of games to try and prove himself.
  14. CGF money to ICT = good decision. As CB mentions, the money given to ICT part funded the construction of a road to the stadium. This small investment has opened up vast tracts of previously inaccessible land and if they have done it right, should have netted the local authority many times more than the amount they gave. The profile of ICT at the time was high to us, but pretty low everywhere else in the country but with magical results in the ensuing time and elevation to the Premier League, the club has also helped market the city far and wide - both nationally and internationally. CGF money to Clach = good decision. The Clach money is a harder one to quantify in terms of what the council got back, but you could quite easily argue that it was indeed a legitimate expenditure for the "common good" of the Merkinch community. In council terms, they also now own a sizeable piece of land very close to the city centre which wont be dropping in value over the years !!! If there is ever a time where Caley Thistle & Clach (+ other local sports?) were to move to a new "community" stadium perhaps part funded by business and part by the city, or Clach become tenants at the TCS then this land will be worth a packet for developers. Not saying I want either thing to happen, but if it does, the council will once again make back far more than they spent. CGF money to a fireworks display = bad decision. This is a ludicrous decision on so many levels. I regularly view the online versions of the Courier and HN and have read the stories about this display with interest. It sounds like the council had the wool pulled over their eyes a little in thinking they were providing "up to" a certain amount and that this would be reduced if the organisers arranged sponsorship. Recent stories seem to suggest thats not the case and when more sponsorship was received, the organisers bought a few more fireworks !!! A fireworks display may be wonderful when it happens, and memorable for a day or two but it fizzles out all too quickly. I fail to see what lasting impact or continuing benefit it would give to the council or the residents of Inverness. Its not going to drive tourism, its not going to have people saying "we must travel to Inverness" in the same way as people travel to Times Square in NY for the New Year fireworks, its a waste of money that could be better spent elsewhere.
  15. A slightly expanded article now on front page of site : http://www.caleythistleonline.com
  16. thought it was quiet :004:
  17. own goals scored by opposition players for ICT are part of the 996. own goals scored by ICT players for the opposition are not.
  18. JB - when I got my new PC a few months back I didnt bother with a backup plan ... like a lot of IT people, I figured that if a problem came along I could solve it ..... boy how wrong I was. A combination of Windows Vista, incompatible software and some stupidity on my part rendered the whole thing bl00dy useless. luckily, I still had my important stuff (documents, photos, music etc) on an external drive I had used for transferring from the old PC to the new one so blowing away the operating system and restoring it to factory settings was not an option that had me tearing my hair out. There are of course benefits to doing this every so often - you clean out all the crap you dont need, you reduce the bloat that weighs down things like your registry and as you have found, you speed things up enormously because of this as only the essential stuff now starts when you boot up the machine. However, the big hassle - as you have also found - is that you have to reinstall everything. First the operating system, then things like office, then any other software you might need like Antivirus, Firewall etc. In my case it took nearly two days to get everything back to normal and reconfigured. What I did then was uninstall some of the pre-loaded crap that came with the system ... then I was happy. I had a lean mean computing machine with no bloat, no crap installed and everything working like it should. After that I got a copy of Norton Ghost and created an image file. If I ever have to blow away my system again all I will need to do is restore the base image which will reinstall all the stuff that took me two days to setup but take a fraction of the time !!! I highly recommend it (or a similar product) .... as i mentioned above, it now backs up my system every so often and i can revert to the base image or any of the weekly/monthly backups if I need to. A separate secondary backup does all my important files/documents etc so I am hopefully well covered. If you use your PC for business then a product like Ghost or something similar, backing your system and important files up to either an external drive or a second internal drive (other than C:) may be a better option than System Restore ... if your C: drive gets wrecked and thats where your restore points are .... what do you do then !!!
  19. Bottom line is that Brewster should be putting out his best 11 players in every game regardless of length of service, favouritism or anything else. I think CB has got it right recently but if Tokes is not performing then Proctor must come in. What happens next is up to Ross ... he either knuckles down and wins his place back, or he doesnt .... We know he can do it, but if he thinks he is an automatic choice as RB then maybe he is getting too complacent and thinks he doesnt need to try. I am sure Brew will educate him on that point. The same should apply throughout the rest of the team too .....
  20. Jimmy Calder might smile ... but I dont think Mark Brown ever saved a penalty either !!!
  21. No I dont think so. The products referred to are things like Norton Internet Security, Norton Antivirus and Norton Systemworks which are completely different and can stop changes being made to your computer. Ghost is a different beast used for making backups.
  22. Registry cleaners are a nightmare !!! For the average computer user, they run it and then let it do everything it wants and as you mentioned above, it can result in crucial settings being deleted. The registry is a tricky thing to manipulate unless you know what you are doing and as all changes take place in real time you can screw things up without the ability to go back and fix them if you make a big error. As i mentioned further above, I use Norton Ghost which for me sits on a separate drive (or to be more precise, its backups do). I find it far more robust than SR which not only wipes restore points when you turn it off even for a second, but also removes them after 90 days whether you want it to or not. I have ghost set so that it took a full (protected [from deletion]) backup just after I had reinstalled everything on my PC as i wanted it (Windows, Office, Dreamweaver, etc etc) and this is my "base" image. If I have to do a complete re-install to factory settings, I would use this image rather than the manufactures disk to restore my computer to its basic state without having to spend a whole day reinstalling all the various programs. Ghost also takes new base images for me each month, and incremental backups each week so that if I do have a problem, I can restore my PC to any backup image I want. finally, Ghost also backs up my specified documents folders so things like images & documents are not only backed up when I do a complete system image, but also when it does a "my documents" backup It means I have had to allocate a 300Gb drive thats only for backups, but in this day and age, 300Gb drives arent expensive so its worth it !!!
  23. Players' Player of the Year is not awarded by fans .... and quite a few others are voted on on a game by game basis so are indicative of consistency throughout a season not favouritism. I actually agree with you that he should be dropped if not playing well and Proctor should play in his place. Maybe that will give him the boot up the @rse he may need to improve his performances. However, I think you are over reacting in your calls for him to be booted out of the club.
  24. really ? Does a crap player win every single award from fans and players alike at the end of our first SPL season ? Off form perhaps, deserving of being dropped probably, but I think you are going way over the score with your comments. Although at least this thread - at your second attempt - was not personally defamatory towards him. You cant say we would have won more or less points with him in the side or not as there is no way to tell ... but I would agree that Proctor didnt seem to do much wrong other than getting sent off (to save someone else's bacon) and that he should maybe get a chance ahead of Ross if he is out of form.
  25. Rankin contracted until May 2009 (see here: http://www.caleythistleonline.com/communit...p?topic=5629.0) but I agree with Marty ... contracts mean **** all these days !
