What would YOU ask the Chairman ?

Teaser Paragraph:
We have approached Caley Thistle Chairman Alan Savage to see if he would be prepared to take part in a question and answer session on the website and answer some questions submitted directly by the fans.
We are happy to report that he has agreed to do this so here is YOUR chance to ask the chairman any burning questions you have about him, his background, his vision for Caley Thistle in the future, how he hopes to achieve that vision or anything else you might choose ....

One of the most successful parts of this site when it was the official club site was the BOARDROOM BANTER series of articles that ran every month for nearly two years. Former ICT Director Kenny Cameron initiated this and provided an article each month.
This series of articles saw Kenny taking the most talked subjects on the message boards talking them over with the board and trying to give the fans a perspective from inside the boardroom. He also let fans know some of the other things that were happening at the club and in the boardroom.
Unfortunately, when Kenny stepped down the articles ceased, but we decided we would ask the new chairman whether he might like to do a one-off question and answer session that lets Caley Thistle fans get to know a little more about him, his vision for the club and maybe answer some fan submitted questions.
We are happy to report that he has agreed to do this so here is YOUR chance to ask the chairman any burning questions you have about him, his background, his vision for Caley Thistle in the future, how he hopes to achieve that vision or anything else you might choose ....
Questions should be submitted to [email protected] between the 15th and 25th November and a selection of them will be answered by Mr Savage in an article we will publish on the website approximately two weeks after that.
We cannot guarantee that all questions will be answered - it depends on the volume of questions we receive, and the nature of them - but if the same question keeps cropping up, we will put it near the top of the list !!!

Hibernian 2-0 Inverness CT - SPL

The thing about streaks is that they have to come to an end. Caley Thistle lost a couple in this game - 8 SPL matches unbeaten, and 5 games without defeat against the Hibees - after going down 2-0 at Easter Road and having Mark Brown red carded. Ian Broadfoot reports from the Easter Road encounter.
HIBERNIAN 2-0 ICT
11th November 2006  Easter Road, Edinburgh  HIBERNIAN  2 (Fletcher 65, Killen 83pen )  Team: Malkowski, Whittaker, Martis, Jones, Stewart, Murphy, Brown, Thomson (Beuzelin 59), Sproule (Benjelloun 46), Zemmama (Fletcher 22), Killen
SUBS: Shiels, Glass, Hogg, McNeil
 INVERNESS CALEDONIAN THISTLE FC  0
Team: Brown, Tokely, Munro, Dods, Hastings, Wilson (Fraser 82) , Duncan, Rankin (McSwegan 78), McBain, Bayne, Dargo (Wyness 74)
SUBS: McAllister, Sutherland, Black, McCaffrey
Referee   John Underhill  Attendance  12868  Man of the Match
A disappointing end to Caley Thistle’s eight-game unbeaten run at Easter Road. The loss of Mark Brown to a red card ten minutes from the end made it very hard and at that point the game was effectively over. Chris Killen’s goal from the resultant penalty sealed Hibs’ victory after substitute Steven Fletcher had given them a 64th minute lead. It was a disappointing end to Brown’s week after he had been named in the Scotland B squad for their visit to Dublin. Charlie Christie fielded an unchanged side from Monday’s draw with Aberdeen - Ian Black’s two-game suspension was over but he could only make it onto the bench. Hibs also made no changes despite an injury doubt over Michael Stewart.
Steven Whittaker proved to be the main threat for the home side in the first half and he had three good efforts. The first went wide in eight minutes but Mark Brown had to be alert to push away the second just two minutes later. In 11 minutes a Craig Dargo shot was charged down by Rob Jones and there was a forlorn penalty claim from the visitors. Malkowski saved from John Rankin in 15 minutes and Dargo was booked for a follow-up push on the keeper.
Whittaker’s third first half shot could have led to a contender for goal of the season if it had come off. He set off from the half way line and ran past a series of defenders but his final shot was blocked by Rankin. Caley Thistle’s best efforts of the half came a couple of minutes before the break when a Russell Duncan cross from the right was volleyed goalwards by Craig Dargo, touched away by Malkowski, stabbed towards the line by Graham Bayne and saved once more by the keeper.
Half Time: 0-0
Into the second half and Hibs took the lead in 64 minutes through substitute Steven Fletcher. Beuzelin and Scott Brown combined to set up Fletcher via a David Murphy lay off and he netted at the back post. Dennis Wyness replaced Dargo in 74 minutes then four minutes later Rankin made way as Gary McSwegan made his first top team appearance. The three-striker formation nearly paid off immediately when McSwegan’s first touch brought out a fine save from Malkowski and his follow-up was blocked. The game went beyond Caley Thistle with ten minutes left when Killen was one-on-one with Mark Brown and the striker went down as he rounded the keeper. A penalty was awarded (the first against ICT since last March) but there were loud protests from the players who thought that contact had been minimal. John Underhill did not change his mind, Brown saw red and Barry Wilson was sacrificed for substitute keeper Mike Fraser. Fraser’s first action was to face the penalty and he could do nothing to prevent Killen making it 2-0. The ten men battled on and with seconds left Caley Thistle nearly managed a consolation when Graham Bayne headed across goal and Darren Dods headed over the bar from a few yards out.
Full Time: 2-0
The defeat meant a slip to sixth but it is still very tight.

Hibernian V ICT - Preview

Teaser Paragraph:
Caley Thistle head to Easter Road with an impressive record against Hibs. 3 wins over them last season and a goalless draw at the start of this season auger well for Saturday's match. However, Hibs have now changed manager with John Collins replacing Tony Mowbray at the helm and it will be a hard game. Andrew Fraser provides an in depth preview of the match. DETAILS Hibernian v Inverness CT,Easter Road, Edinburgh Saturday 11th November at 3pm Referee: John Underhill Others: Gordon Middleton, Tommy Johnston (Assistants), Martin Sproule (4th offcial) Tickets: This match is a pay at the gate match. They are NOT participating in the U12 passport scheme. TV-info: Live commentary on BBC Radio Scotland. Highlights available on Scotsport SPL. FIXTURES Saturday 11th November: Aberdeen v Motherwell Dundee Utd v Kilmarnock Hibernian v Inverness CT Rangers v Dunfermline Sunday 12th November: St Mirren v Celtic (Setanta, 2pm) Monday 13th November: Falkirk v Hearts (Setanta, 7:45pm) SPL ROUND-UP During last weekend, 3 games were decided by late goals and a double hat-trick for a Falkirk player. Celtic increased their lead at the top of the table thanks to a last gasp victory over Hearts. Hearts had taken a deserved lead after 72 mins with Velicka scoring. However Jarosik equalised on the 86th minute and an own goal by Craig Gordon gifted Celtic the 3pts and another big step closer to the title.
There is nothing stopping Anthony Stokes, as he bagged his second hat-trick in as many games to help Falkirk defeat Dunfermline 3-0. The Republic of Ireland player has been called up to his countries B squad next week against Scotland.
John Collins 1st game as manager of Hibernian finished 2-2 against Kilmarnock at home. Both teams were leading at some point but a draw was about right. Motherwell and St Mirren produced a stalemate at Fir Park with John Sutton missing a penalty for the Saints.
Craig Levein’s first game as Dundee Utd manager on Sunday couldn’t have gone better. Rangers took the lead through Charlie Adam on 50 mins, but Rangers starting sitting back and Utd eventually got the equaliser through Gary Kenneth and secured 3pts with a late winner by Lee Mair. If Rangers fans thought this was bad, little did they know, they would lose at home to St Johnstone on Wednesday.
On Monday night, it was a northern derby with Inverness looking to beat Aberdeen for the first ever time. After a dull first half, the game livened up in the second and Caley Thistle deservedly took the lead through a header by Graham Bayne. All was looking good for 3pts until Steve Lovell scored a last minute goal with his knee as Inverness didn’t deal with the cross. Not bad attendance either!!
So after 13 games, Celtic are looking odds on to win the title after bookies have started to pay out. The relegation battle looks exciting as long as Inverness CT don’t fall into it which I don’t think will happen.
PAST MEETINGS The teams have played a total of 7 times (7 League, 0 Cup) with 16 goals (11 Inverness CT, 5 Hibernian) between them. Inverness CT: 4 wins (4 League, 0 Cup) Draws: 1 (1 League, 0 Cup) Hibernian: 2 wins (2 League, 0 Cup) A GAME TO REMEMBER For this weeks game to remember we take you back to the biggest win in this fixture. It took place at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium in the SPL on the 02/03/2005. This was Inverness’ only second game in Inverness in the SPL after ground sharing with Aberdeen for the first half of the season. Inverness out played Hibs for the whole game and deserved their 3-0 victory. Goals came from Juanjo, Brewster and Wilson. The attendance was 4443. The teams were as follows: INVERNESS CT: Brown, Tokely, Munro, Dods, Golabek, Wilson, Hart, Duncan, McBain, Brewster, Juanjo. Subs- Proctor (for Hart), Bayne (for Brewster), Fatai (for Juanjo), Fraser, McCaffrey, Hastings, Prunty. HIBERNIAN: Simon Brown, Whittaker, Caldwell, Smith, Murphy, Orman, Antonio Murray, Ian Murray, Scott Brown, O’Connor, Riordan. Subs- Shiels (for Orman), McDonald (for A.Murray), Sproule (for I.Murray), Brown, McCluskey, Morrow, Konte. The referee was John Underhill and there were three bookings on the day all for Hibernian: Antonio Murray, Murphy and Ian Murray. Nine of the Inverness players who started the match still play for the club. Only Craig Brewster and Juanjo have left. FACTS BETWEEN THE TEAMS
All League meetings between the teams have taken place in the SPL. There have been no cup ties between the teams Inverness have won four out of the last five meetings. In the four wins, Hibernian had only scored once. Barry Wilson is the top scorer in this fixture with 4 goals. Hibernian have had the same manager in all 6 fixtures, until today when John Collins take charge against Inverness CT for the first time. Inverness CT have had 3 different managers during the 6 matches. TOP SCORERS 4 goals: Barry Wilson (ICT) 3 goals: Derek Riordan (Hibs) 2 goals: Juanjo (ICT) 1 goal: Brewster (ICT), Proctor (ICT), Wyness (ICT), Dargo (ICT), Dods (ICT), Beuzilin (Hibs), Fletcher (Hibs). PLAYERS TO WATCH Graham Bayne (ICT): The Caley Thistle forward has just signed a new 2 and a half year deal and after scoring against Aberdeen on Monday will be looking to continue adding to his tally. The ex-Ross County man is always seen heading the ball and has a good shot. He has never scored against Hibernian and will be looking to break his duck against them on Saturday. Chris Killen (Hibernian): The striker is a great player with a lot of potential. He currently has scored 7 SPL goals and is a Graham Bayne like player. He has taken over the scoring boots after Riordan and O’Connor left and John Collins will be working hard on lowering his crime count with already 6 yellows and 2 reds this season. Also has never scored in this fixture. FUTURE FIXTURES 20th Jan 2007 at Tulloch Caledonian Stadium Squad: Mark Brown, Jonathon Smith, Michael Fraser, Darren Dods, Stuart Soane, Ross Tokely, Guy Kerr, Richard Hastings, Stuart McCaffrey, Stuart Golabek, Grant Munro, John Rankin, Ian Black, Roy McBain, Zander Sutherland, Alan Morgan, Liam Keogh, Richie Hart, Barry Wilson, Russell Duncan, Craig Dargo, Gary McSwegan, Rory McAllister, Dennis Wyness, Graham Bayne Injured: Nobody. Suspended: Nobody.

Brown called up

Teaser Paragraph:
Caley Thistle stopper Mark Brown has been called up to the Scotland 'B' Squad to face the Republic of Ireland in Dublin next Tuesday. The 25 year old featured in the 'futures' match against Turkey at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium  last year but his consistent performances for the Caley Jags have obviously been noted and he now steps up to the 'B' level and hopefully he will get a chance to stake his claim for a spot in the full international squad. If selected, he will probably face a familiar opponent, as free scoring Arsenal youngster Anthony Stokes, currently on loan with Falkirk has been called up to the Republic Squad.
If Mark can progress from here to the full squad, he will become the first ICT player to earn full international honours for Scotland whilst playing for ICT.
Perhaps disappointing is the omission of other potential candidates in Craig Dargo,  Ian Black and Grant Munro but Mark getting into the squad is a good start.

He went on to say that his attentions will now turn to players like Darren Dods, Mark Brown and Craig Dargo who are also out of contract at the end of the season "With these lads safely in the bag, we'll be stepping our talks with Craig Dargo, Mark Brown and Darren Dods to try to agree their deals" the

Grant Munro (26) - a solid defender with 181 appearances - is the most succesful product of the Caley Thistle youth system so far and was recently tipped by Charlie Christie as a potential future captain of the club. And Inverness Caledonian Thistle fans will score over supporters of Manchester United, and other leading English clubs, with a more attractive standard rate of interest on their savings.
The accounts will provide fans with a new way to save and support Caley Thistle by offering a competitive rate of interest which will, in turn, generate an income for the club.
Mark Moran, Sales & Marketing Director of Glasgow-based Soccer Savings said: “ We are delighted to be selected as the official savings partner of Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Club. In addition, to help kick start the scheme we are giving away a £5 voucher to all Caley Thistle fans at the match versus Aberdeen on Monday 6th November to help them start saving for both their and the club’s future.”
In a week when a survey of 1,000 Scots revealed that £180 million pounds worth of interest is being lost by Scots who wanted to save but didn’t get around to opening a savings account; the ictfcsaver account benefits fans and the club.
Mark Moran said: “This is a new and exciting way to encourage people to save because it’s more than just a savings account. The ictfcsaver account gives fans “money can’t buy” opportunities such as meeting Caley Thistle former players and other offers exclusive to account holders and it does raise the question why would a Caley Thistle fan save anywhere else?”
Brian Morton, Sales and Marketing Director of Dunfermline Building Society commented: “ The Soccer Savings initiative is a savings scheme  we are very proud to support. Having a team like Inverness Caledonian Thistle onboard is a fantastic way to raise the profile of this affinity savings product which help all the Soccer Savings teams in Scotland”

Inverness CT 1-1 Aberdeen - SPL

Inverness CT 1-1 Aberdeen
Caley Thistle are now unbeaten in 8 games but a last gasp equaliser from Steve Lovell means that ICT have still to record a win over the Dons as the spoils are shared at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium

06th November 2006  Tulloch Caledonian Stadium Inverness Caledonian Thistle  1 (Bayne 78) Team: Brown, Tokely, Dods, Munro, Hastings, Wilson, Duncan, Rankin, McBain, Dargo (Wyness 81), Bayne,
SUBS: McCaffrey, McSwegan, Soane, Sutherland, McAllister, & Fraser
Aberdeen  1 (Lovell 90) Team: Langfield, Hart, Anderson, Severin, J. Smith, Nicholson, Mackie (Maguire 82), Clark (Considine 67), Dempsey (Lovell 79),  Miller, Foster
SUBS: Diamond, D. Smith, S. Smith & Soutar
Referee  Dougie McDonald  Attendance  5744  Man of the Match  John Rankin (ICT)
The first Monday night Setanta TV match involving Caley Thistle ended in a disappointing draw in front of a better crowd than had been anticipated. That elusive win against Aberdeen was just a minute of the regulation ninety away when substitute Stevie Lovell cancelled out Graham Bayne’s 79th minute opener.
It was not a classic match but, despite the lack of clear shots, both sets of supporters were vocal in their encouragement and seemed to enjoy the spectacle. With Ian Black still suspended Russell Duncan continued in midfield for ICT and Gary McSwegan made his first squad appearance. Aberdeen’s Jamie Smith came back from injury to replace Zander Diamond.
There was little to report in the opening period but there was some fun when the far side assistant referee dropped his flag while awarding Caley Thistle a 13th minute corner. Two successive corners were cleared after some panic in the Aberdeen defence then Darren Dods had a header blocked and a follow-up shot saved. Aberdeen’s first real effort was a 19th minute snap shot from Gary Dempsey but it went wide.
A minute later Craig Dargo sent a long range shot goalwards at the other end and it spun just wide left with Jamie Langfield struggling. The visitors were awarded a free kick 22 yards out in 27 minutes but Jamie Smith’s chip came off the wall for a corner. Close to the break Langfield held a low John Rankin shot but otherwise there was little on target.
Half Time: 0-0
Chris Clark hit well wide in 56 minutes and an off-balance Dargo shot was saved by Langfield in 63 minutes. The home side were creating more than Aberdeen but the pressure was not translating into shots on target.
In 72 minutes Richard Hastings did well to rob Darren Mackie in the home box and three minutes later Michael Hart chipped over. The long-awaited opening goal came in some style in 79 minutes. A clever Dargo pass from just outside the box found Roy McBain racing down the left and his inch-perfect cross was headed home by the diving Graham Bayne from seven yards.
A minute later Barry Wilson was through into the Aberdeen box when he went down as Michael Hart slid in  – the home camp claimed a penalty but there was no award.
Hopes of sealing the victory diminished as Aberdeen pushed upfield and two minutes from time a Chris Maguire acrobatic kick came off the bar. Andrew Considine was following up but he could only head over.
The Dons continued to press and a minute later a Hart cross from the right reached Lovell via Lee Miller and the substitute hit it home with his knee from a yard out.
Full Time 1-1
The three added minutes produced nothing and it ended 1-1 with Caley Thistle remaining fifth.
