Who will be the 3 candidates?

Caley Thistle have not approached anyone regarding the position and will draw up a list of the three most favourable candidates after today's meeting (22-Jan-09) at Caledonian Stadium.

Inverness director of football Graeme Bennett claims the Highland club will consider all applicants regardless of nationality or experience.

He said: ?The process for the replacement of the manager has started and that will be ongoing.

?There has already been a fair bit of interest in the position and we are not ruling anybody in or out.

?We have an open book, there is no set criteria, we are just seeing who is available and we will take it from there.

?We are going to sit down and decide who we would like to speak to.

?We have not spoken to anyone about the job yet ? it is up to the board to do that.

?We have gathered some information over the last 24 hours on prospective candidates and the sooner we can arrange interviews the better.?

So if today's board meeting is going to result in three names being put forward then I think they may be:

1) J Robertson

2) A Knox

3) A N Other

I don't think we will see Terry Butcher or Ossie Ardiles on that short-list of candidates being invited for an interview at the club....

Interestingly these are the latest odds and the bookies don't often get it wrong (but where do they get some of these names):

John Robertson 2

Terry Butcher 10/3

Barry Wilson 5

Archie Knox 6

Ossie Ardilles 9

Gordon Chisholm 9

Willie Donnachie 10

Kevin MacDonald 11

Derek McInnes 12

Steven Pressley 14

Eric Black 14

Neale Cooper 16

Colin Calderwood 16

Bruce Rioch 16

Chris Sutton 16

Charlie Christie 16

Stevie Frail 18

Maurice Malpas 20

Colin Hendry 20

Alex Rae 20

Jim Duffy 22

Derek Adams 25

Duncan Shearer 33

Craig Brown 33

Steve Paterson 33

Bobby Williamson 33

What kind of compensation would a club like villa be looking at for O'Neill.... :rotflmao:

i dont think we will be able to entice the villa reserve team manager (promise i wont mention his name again) as he is becoming hot property after winning thev rezserve league last year.

but he is the type of manger we should be going for. someone with integrity, respect and humility.

good luck to grassa and the board in getting the right man.

we are potentially a big club and should not satisfy ourselves with sloppy seconds from the arabs, jambos or any other SPL club. think big and ambitious.

I would imagine he would be on a very healthy salary at Villa

think big

Calederwood's the man.

Maybe he'll see coming to Inverness as an 'apprenticeship' for his first team management career.

i believe he is on slightly less than our last 2 grossly overpaid managers but the stumbling block may be the rapid rise of villa in the english game. villa believe they are about 2 years away from being a champions league standard side

Priceless!!

Interesting article that from 2002 - the other candidates listed were John Robertson (Livi), Alan Kernaghan (Clyde) and Ian Wilson (Peterhead) - all ex-players and none of them are working as football managers at present as far as I am aware....

Wikipedia even states that Ian Wilson disappeared only to be spotted on a beach in Turkey in 2008 - I know it is slightly off topic but is that wiki truth or bluff - anybody know?

Inverness have spoken to one of the candidates for their managerial vacancy - but they still have at least four more to speak to over the weekend.

Caledonian Thistle chairman George Fraser and director of football Graeme Bennett interviewed one contender in person on Thursday.

And they hope to speak to the others by Monday, allowing an appointment to be made early next week.

It seems the three is now five....it's going to be a busy weekend.... :rotflmao:

Plus Bennetts got to pick the team and decide how they approach the Hearts game tomorrow...

Still.... I'm sure he'll take it all in his stride...

Doc is selecting the side and will be in the dugout. Grassa will be in the stand.

Was told this half hour ago.

Also Robbo is going to the game to try and canvas support.

Interesting, why don't we start a Robbo, Robbo chant. I'm up for it!
