Who will be the 3 candidates?

Caley Thistle have not approached anyone regarding the position and will draw up a list of the three most favourable candidates after today's meeting (22-Jan-09) at Caledonian Stadium.

Inverness director of football Graeme Bennett claims the Highland club will consider all applicants regardless of nationality or experience.

He said: ?The process for the replacement of the manager has started and that will be ongoing.

?There has already been a fair bit of interest in the position and we are not ruling anybody in or out.

?We have an open book, there is no set criteria, we are just seeing who is available and we will take it from there.

?We are going to sit down and decide who we would like to speak to.

?We have not spoken to anyone about the job yet ? it is up to the board to do that.

?We have gathered some information over the last 24 hours on prospective candidates and the sooner we can arrange interviews the better.?

So if today's board meeting is going to result in three names being put forward then I think they may be:

1) J Robertson

2) A Knox

3) A N Other

I don't think we will see Terry Butcher or Ossie Ardiles on that short-list of candidates being invited for an interview at the club....

Interestingly these are the latest odds and the bookies don't often get it wrong (but where do they get some of these names):

John Robertson 2

Terry Butcher 10/3

Barry Wilson 5

Archie Knox 6

Ossie Ardilles 9

Gordon Chisholm 9

Willie Donnachie 10

Kevin MacDonald 11

Derek McInnes 12

Steven Pressley 14

Eric Black 14

Neale Cooper 16

Colin Calderwood 16

Bruce Rioch 16

Chris Sutton 16

Charlie Christie 16

Stevie Frail 18

Maurice Malpas 20

Colin Hendry 20

Alex Rae 20

Jim Duffy 22

Derek Adams 25

Duncan Shearer 33

Craig Brown 33

Steve Paterson 33

Bobby Williamson 33

He was never Aberdeens manager, he was assistant, left and came back as assistant.

Dundee 01-08-1984 31-05-1986 14 6 4 4

22 pts from 14 games that would be enough to keep us up.

Robbo is alleged to have left 4 clubs on bad terms and fallen out with directors at all 4 clubs. i do not want to go into a long story but seemingly his conduct at Derry was dire. He was given 2 weeks to go back to Scotland to deal with serious personal matters and proceeded to work fo Setenta during the 2 weeks.

This is what i heard in the Gorgie Suite this afternoon and Scottish Hearts officials believe he will never get a job at Tynecastle again and will be very lucky to get another managerial job in Scotland.

These are snippets from Tynecastle today but I supppoese everyone will make up thier own mind.

JUST LEFT THE GORGIE SUITE AT TYNECASTLE AND HEADING FOR THE BUFFALO GRILL

Knox had a spell as Aberdeen manager in 1986 GUARANTEED

Knox never managed Aberdeen DOUBLE GUARANTEED!

Anyone know what his record was like at Dundee? Uninspiring IMHO.

Team From To Games Won Lost Drawn

Bolton 17-10-2007 26-10-2007 2 0 1 1

Surely he was in charge for more games than that at Dundee? He was there for a couple of years!

Of the 4 that seem to be in the frame. Malpas has to be the worst. I'd go for:

Knox

Butcher

Sutton

Anyone Else but Malpas

There was a story today that Chisolm and Dodds had thrown their hat into the ring.

Butcher has definitely withdrawn as he has 2 lucrative P/T jobs and Malpas is def not being considered

I WOULD ACTUALLY TAKE THOSE 2 WITH NO PROBLEMS

Malpas is def not being considered

thank goodness

I'd prefer the Chisolm/Dodds combo to either Knox or the untried Sutton. Jimmy Nicol as well as Eric Black would be firmly on my radar.

In my book caretaker is not manager. It's kinda what Grassa and John Doc were doing today.

eric black would be a very good appointment also

Dodds? Darren Dods? Billy Dodds? Davie Dodds?

Surely Maurice Malpas hasn't proved himself after two disastrous appointments?

What Dodds does Chisolm work with?

What were they doing today ? Oh thats right , managing ICT .

I am having drinks with a bookie from Paddy Power in Edinburgh and although they dont have an official book he is offering me the following:

Knox 6/4

Craig Brown 5/2

Sutton 4/1

Butcher 12/1

Chisolm 25/1

All others 100/1

They were going to open a book but there were too maqny leaks over the last 2 ICT appointments.
