  • Clyde or Stranraer away. Sounds quite nice to me

  • Point taken. Let's hope we're not their first big scalp of the season.

  • Auchinleck Talbot must be wondering what might have been! In the 3rd round, they were at Stranraer and leading 2-1 with around 10 mins to go. They then got a penalty resulting in a sending-off with S

Is the Glasgow Central to Stranraer route a flat £21 off peak return with Scotrail, regardless of when it's booked?

I'm sure you could pass for 55, then it's only £19 return from Edinburgh. Just wear a bunnet.

TopSix could bring RiG along and pretend to be his (grand)dad.

Feck me - can you get cheap train tickets when you are 55 plus - How ?

something along the lines of anywhere in Scotland for £19 for over 55s, i think its called club 55.

Only on Scotrail grandad

Thanks Pops but I am going to Stranraer from Paisley so how do I qualify ?

Just book an over 55 fare. Not always available tho...

I will check it out. It is only £2 cheaper but this will go towards a vodka I guess.

You just need to show Id to prove you are an old git when you buy your ticket on the day. Having said that, I don't think you will need to show anything!

I've done it a few times, always booked online and picked up the tickets at the machine, but you can just buy them on the day. Never been asked for ID either, maybe the ticket collector has a look at you......

Also tried 1st class once, coming up to sneckie for one of the derbies. £26 and you get free coffee, snacks and newspapers all the way, if you can stand the embarrassment of being waited on hand and foot if you're the only one in the compartment.

First class rarely available Mantis  restricted numbers on most services.

BTW Johndo, you should look at the option of booking to Carlisle (think you can travel to/from here under the Club 55 offer) then Scotrail onwards to Sneck, would imagine you could save a few quid
