Of course I read Sophia's post - possibly an individual with the same degree of vitriol compared to my tolerance. There are a number of things in that post that I agree with but a lot that I view as uninformed and personable opinion. Lizi ain't exactly an "easy touch" and very politely challenges some of the negativity. Perhaps this is as much about the "views" of the individuals concerned due to personal experience and understandable "loyalty". This has caused as much "debate" as Sutherland and Savage. Sutherlands saving grace, to me, was that he had the spondoolicks to cover any gaffes, a successful side and more incoming finance. I think that the bottom line is that a number of individuals have attempted to keep ICT from administration. Their business acumen may have been flawed but at least, using sofa terminology, is that they have kept an old banger ticking over. We cant afford to trade it in and you don't put high quality tyres or brakes on a banger when you haven't got the money but need to keep it going. Hopefully the scrapyard scenario will be avoided. Our banger at the moment is ticking over quite nicely and here is hoping for an upgrade shortly. Oh and finally sometimes you have to take one for the team. Think that I will now wait for the EGM ?
  2. We need to guard against complacency against Partick. No matter how the season has gone so far, McCall will have them fired up for this. Although we should take the 3 points with something to spare we will have to be wary and bring our A game to this one.
  3. Nope, their cash cow is in fact bidding to take over the club and give it to the fans group, Thistle For Ever, now that a chinese/american consortium are no longer in the running, which is why Colin Weir pulled his millions out. Not looking forward to being in the championship with an Ian McCall team with money. I'm hoping for a strong start on Saturday, can't let Partick settle on McCalls first league game. Make sure their heads are down by half-time, then finish them off early in the second half.
  4. Indeed even to sort out our deficit but their cash cow has withdrawn his support now so be interesting to see where they go from here, hopefully not to close to us though. Sometimes an injection of cash can be worse if not spent wisely especially if said backer then decides to walk away and take their money with them.
  5. A boggy team - for Peats sake Gringo - stay off the Real Ale. From here on in Plastic Whistle will only improve. Wish we had the backing of a fervent Lottery winner !! This is our big chance to take three points off them before they start ringing the inevitable changes.
  6. Are they operating a "fan blacklist" ? ? Perhaps they cant afford overseas charges ?

If you believe the parting comments of Gary Caldwell we should be fearful of Partick on Saturday, after all I'm sure he said that he set the foundations for the club but then again he was sacked so ...................... It'll take McCall a while to establish himself and make a mark on that squad, Ayr will suffer but the loss of so many of their big players in the summer surely had a bearing on his decision to leave.
  8. Your loyalty to Mr Rae, for whatever reason, is admirable but we will have to agree to disagree on your assessment of the situation. I have had dealings in some capacity with virtually every iteration of our boardroom over the years and lets just say that some were far more organised, personable, and capable than others. I have absolutely no doubt that anyone who has 'donated' their funds (Weekend Hackers's distinction is correct IMO) had the best intentions coming in, especially those who had a plan they thought would work, but as we have seen a few times, the viability or implementation of those plans often had severe issues or were chock full of inefficiencies and wastage costing us money we didnt have. The last two years are another example of this. The best post in this thread is from A Sofa in St Tropez on the first page. Absolutely nails it as far as I am concerned.
