  1. I didn’t think it would be possible for Trumpfantino to debase this great tournament anymore than they already have done but they sure did. To wake up to that great result from Belgium just proved to me that Karma exists and is alive and well!
  2. That brought back a great memory thanks Mantis - my favourite Tartan Army chant of all time… “One team in Tallin, there’s only one team in Tallin…”
  3. Such a shame and a sad ending for him after all he’s achieved climbing up the Nations League and getting us back to the World Cup and UEFAs. He did make us competitive again to a certain degree but after those displays I think he’s done the right and honourable thing by resigning. So a new chapter awaits, Whoever takes over has plenty of time to work with his chosen squad before the next tournament and hopefully can build on the base Steve Clarke created and move us forward to the next level.
  4. It’s the feeling of Déjà vu from ‘74 that I hoped wouldnae happen - well 50% of it anyway. In ‘74 we came home losing out on goal difference because we failed to score enough goals - this time it was because we screwed ourselves by faffing about in our own penalty box and failed to learn from it. We came home with our heads held high in ‘74. The guys did us proud and the reception we gave them at Renfrew airport on their return was awesome. This time I’ve never felt so p’d off about our national team failing to reach the knockout stages - what a wasted opportunity!
  5. I lost all interest in the World Cup on the night of the draw. Couldn’t stand to watch the disgusting, sycophantic display from Infantino awarding the FIFA World Peace prize to one of the most dangerous, warmongering and deranged people on the planet. The corruption in the football world is still alive and well and there for us all to see - it completely destroyed any enthusiasm I had for this great tournament. So sad to see it abused so badly in the USA. I wish our lads well but, sadly, I’ll not be watching any of it.
  6. Ooh hopefully get to that one as I’m planning on visiting the folks in Brig o Don that week 🤞
  7. Yup agree and, apologies for going off topic, help to cement our position when everyone at SPFL HQ finally sees sense and reorganises our league structure.
  8. He could still do a decent job for us in the Championship…
  9. Sames…
  10. I feel we could have done without the distraction of this cup, pretty sure it hasn’t helped with the concentration needed to finish this season as champions. Silver lining is, I suppose, the 100k runners up prize money but I worry that the whole episode will dent confidence before the real cup final against Stenny.
  11. Would be grand for the girls get a half decent crowd to cheer them on tonight. Great to have a game like this in Inverness and to get more if all goes well. Hope it’s a great night for the girls and everyone that turns up.
  12. Today’s wish list: 1 Beat the Accies - job done ✔️ 2 Montrose to beat Stenny - ok I’ll take the draw ✔️ 3 Beat the English in the pointy ball game - gubbed ‘em ✔️ 4 Tranmere to end their losing streak - Boss kidda ✔️ 5 Canaries to reach 5th round - On The Ball City ✔️ Oh just a perfect day! Cheers Lou for the perfect song for today 😁
  13. You’d make a great statistishun Mantis 😄
  14. Never in doubt 😁
  15. I’ve long been a supporter of three 16 team leagues playing each other twice instead of four times. In the grand scheme of things it wouldn’t make a massive difference to the total number of games played in a season but the reduction would be a step in the right direction and give scope for a mid-season break if there was an appetite for it.
  16. Never easy being a CaleyJags fan - now they make it more difficult to choose the best goal of the game! Whatever next…😁
  17. Have to admit being guilty of a bit of hubris with this tie. Given our past underdog cup history I should have known better, Tranent weren’t going to be easy pushovers. In the end I’m just grateful we held on for the win.
  18. …really hope County avoid the drop, it would be such a shame to bypass them on our way up 😁
  19. Well I think I live in the south east but the local Norfolk-ites would be horrified at the thought! Most of my family ties are on the Moray and Aberdeenshire coasts but Dundee born and Aberdeen brought up until emigrating to Scouseland as a young teenager (hence I also have a Tranmere Rovers affiliation). When the CaleyJags formed in 1994 it was like the club I’d waited for all my life had been born - quite a rollercoaster since to say the least! Don’t get back home much these days so the TV game against QotS was a big deal in the household - helluva match for yer first ICT experience! If you can manage it I’d recommend trying to get to one of our away games, they’re always a great day out with a cracking atmosphere amongst the travelling support. Welcome to the club and forum LCJ 👍
  20. Going back in time to my referee course in a bygone era it was instilled into you as a ref and linesman that a player was not offside if they were level with the defender. To me that goes along with the whole body scenario. If the difference can’t be identified by a linesman’s (assistant referee 🙄) eyesight then the attacking player is level and shouldn’t be deemed to be offside. The important thing was that it was always incumbent on the linesman being level with the last defender to give an accurate decision. I always thought it was a simple rule that I never had any problem with, but it’s been so messed about with that some of the VAR decisions are just plain ludicrous. Granted, previously, there were wrong decisions aplenty but I feel there have been just as many wrong decisions since its inception. VAR destroys the flow and spirit of the game and I’d be happy to see it gone tomorrow.
  21. Bob, I think you’ve posted on the wrong website
  22. …and I originally had 1-1 full time and edited it to 0-1 - not one of my most successful days prediction-wise, but without knowing how things panned out tonight I’d have taken 1-1 before kickoff. A decent result away on a cold night against one of our more serious rivals for the title.
  23. I wish he’d waited until the first minute of the second half, screwed up my NPL halftime prediction ☹️
  24. I’m fully expecting a smaller crowd Robert but think the 5:30 kick off time on a bitterly cold dark night will have as much effect as the tv. It’ll take a very determined hardcore supporter to make the journey north from Dumfries even without the temptation of watching it from a cozy armchair with warming Bovril in yer hand (other drinks of your choice are available)
  25. Aye Scotty, 28 fekkin years - I’ve never drunk whisky that old!!!
