KDeeM Trophy Time Dundee B are up North on Tuesday night at 7:45pm in the KDM Trophy group stages part of the event (pre knock out). The Challenge Cup is a bit of a convoluted competition this season with a thirty team group stages league competing for twenty places in the knockout stages once the Championship sides enter the event to give you a straight thirty-two team knockout competition. At the moment, after three games, Premiership 'B' teams fill 8 of the bottom 10 places which means as it stands only two Lower League teams would be eliminated after the League phase with only Celtic and St Mirren B teams progressing and only Annan Athletic and Stirling Albion dropping out. Inverness are one of four teams on maximum points midway through the league stages, the others being Stenhousemuir, Montrose and Edinburgh City. The Caley Jags will be buoyed by their recent League form. Four wins on the trot, scoring six times and all clean sheets. Stirling Albion were the last team to score against us in the last KDM fixture at the beginning of the month, and it took a wonderful strike to hit the net. It all depends on what team we put out but also remember to keep some match winners on the bench just in case. Might be an opportunity to get Ross Millen, Paul Allan, Alfie Bavidge and Adam MacKinnon back up to speed as they continue their comebacks. I'm sure the likes of Mathew Strachan, Mitchell Robertson and Jordan Alonge will be itching to get a start. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Caley Jags squad we had on duty against Stirling Albion in our last KDM Trophy fixture. Despite there being a fair spattering of first team regulars, we made extremely hard work in winning the points. It took a 94th minute direct from a corner kick strike by Liam Sole to clinch the winner after a great display by Stirling Albion keeper Robert Duffy. The Binos had taken the lead with a tremendous strike by Ross Cunningham after half an hour. Chanka Zimba pulled us level five minutes later and that's how it stood until well into time added on when Sole produced the winner. Bar 94 will be open and the matchday bus service will be operating for the Challenge Cup game against Dundee that kicks off at 1945 on Tuesday 23 September. Bar 94 will open at 1730, with last orders at 1915 (the bar must be fully vacated by 1930). The bar reopens at full time. A bus will leave the Bus Station for the Stadium at 1900, returning from the Stadium 10 minutes after the full time whistle. The bus fare is £2.70 single (contactless payments or cash accepted), and Over 60 / Disabled and Under 22 Concession passes are valid, giving free travel on the service to passholders. Dundee B put this team together to face Forfar Athletic in their last fixture. For the level we're at just now.... there's not a team in this league who'd lay a glove on Raven, Meekings, Warren & Tremarco....but it's also unlikely they'd have been playing for a League 1 ICTFC (I'd not play Shinnie in defense, thought he was better further forward)

What a day. The atmosphere was electric, with the young team in full voice and driving the noise all game (well done to them) We started brightly and created the kind of chances that should have put the game to bed before half-time. Longstaff rattled the bar with a strike that had half the stand on their feet. Liam Sole had the golden opportunity, clean through on the keeper, but his effort rolled agonisingly wide. At that point, it felt like we should have been two or three up and cruising. The story was much the same after the break – good football, more chances, but still no killer blow. As the minutes ticked away, the nerves began to grow. Queens came into it and had a double chance that, honestly, I’ve no idea how they didn’t put away. It was one of those heart-in-mouth moments where you’re just waiting for the ball to hit the net. As the game edged into stoppage time, their keeper came forward for a last minute corner. After a brilliant recovery tackle from one of their defenders, the ball broke to Longstaff just inside our own half. He looked up, saw the empty net, and went for it. Time seemed to stand still as the ball bobbled through before nestling in the goal. Special shout out to Macintyre. He was immense at the back today. Winning everything and looking more composed every week.

And today the most northerly Scottish senior team plays Stranraer, the most southerly. (and most westerly!) Which I suppose has bog-all to do with Ross County, the title of this thread!

I know I'm a day to late but I'm sure you'll forgive me @Scotty as I'm 40 now (was on August 12) 🤣 but I hope you had a good birthday 👍. I know I've caused issues on this forum in the past but one thing I'll always be greatful for was your patience with me and the pep talks you gave me which I probably needed at the time so I owe you a dept of gratitude for being so supportive or firm when needed 😁. I get where you’re coming from, but I think the points deduction is a fair and necessary punishment. When a club goes into administration, it’s often because they’ve been spending beyond their means. That overspending can give them an artificial advantage in the short term – signing players they couldn’t otherwise afford, competing at a level they shouldn’t be able to, and in effect “buying” success. Meanwhile, other clubs who live within their budgets and make tough decisions to stay financially stable are the ones who suffer. If there wasn’t a strong penalty like a points deduction, there would be nothing stopping clubs from gambling with money they don’t have, knowing they could just write off debts if it went wrong. The deduction isn’t about kicking a club while it’s down, it’s about maintaining fairness across the league and deterring financial mismanagement.
