  1. Aye, who paid the 3 quid then Jakies instead of smokies.....
  2. It's obvious Pele was always the kind to walk away - as he said often in interviews, there's more important things in life than fitba. If he did have his head in the right attitude (that's a big 'if') for managing full time I'd have him back in a flash. He was successful at Elgin, Huntly and us. Leaving us was the mistake of his life and he probably knew that at the time. I'm sure he could have adapted to the SPL with us, without south based fans like me having to listen to people at work saying what a boring team we are now. As for Brew, I'm sure he's learning the trade alright, but I fear by the time he's learned it we'll be playing at places like Cappielow every week. For the record: I was at the game. Mary Hill has it spot on.
  3. No, they were in the same season. Beat Ayr 7-3 in December, and 4-3 in January. In between we had another 2 crackers where we beat Airdrie 4-0 and drew 3-3 with County when Denzil scored 2 in injury time :thumb04: What a team, bring back Pele!
  4. Wake up Craigy boy - probably the worst Hearts side I've ever seen and as far as I remember we never had a shot on target.
  5. I was never a big Bayne fan but he would be better than Barrowman, Wood and Rooney put together. Apart from the goal the defence was OK, and so was the midfield up to a point, but feck knows where we're going to get any goals this season. Imrie looked a div 1 player as usual. Anybody thinks we can function without Russell Duncan can borrow my specs. I haven't seen the table yet but I'm sure it won't make good reading.
  6. I've scored! It's Heather Mills?????????!
  7. I got this email from Laura Richardson:
  8. Ach as long as it doesnae mount your leg when you've got visitors, I wouldn't worry too much.
  9. If the whole thing turns out a flop maybe we could send Rossco over and just for a laugh give him a wee thrill belting round that thing at pace.
  10. Naw, probably just splattered with bits of Farley's rusks (probably showing my age there - do they still make Farley's rusks?
  11. That would more likely be the Highland Amateur Cup no?
  12. Wick's journey is surely a record for the Scottish Cup.
  13. Rothes v Buckie Thistle Golspie Sutherland v Threave Rovers Banks O' Dee v Fort William Lochee United v Bathgate Thistle Selkirk v Coldstream St Cuthbert Wanderers v Wick Academy Fraserburgh v Hawick Royal Albert Newton Stewart v Brora Rangers Huntly v Girvan Pollok v Spartans Edinburgh City v Nairn County Inverurie Loco Works v Deveronvale Dalbeattie Star v Lossiemouth Edinburgh University v Civil Service Strollers Preston Athletic v Gala Fairydean Wigtown & Bladnoch v Forres Mechanics Clachnacuddin v Burntisland Shipyard Amateur Glasgow University v Vale of Leithen Ties to be played Sept 27.
  14. As your team is so massive how many fans do you think you will bring through? an honest question so don't be a prat. You started it. Guess for yourself - about the same as your lot would bring to Inverness on a wet midweek in September. Remember we have to go 103 miles just for a derby so stop having cheap digs.
  15. Think the Scotland game was the following day. What I do remember is that our next game was the Challenge Cup final against Alloa. Not Pele's greatest week as a manager......
  16. Thanks Mum, don't listen to that old curmudgeon. Now, I've got some washing here......
  17. OK, waited a month or two but - how do I fix my sig?
  18. Jeez, I thought I was in disguise yesterday too :thumb04: I think you made a lot of perceptive comments so maybe I'm giving Woody a hard time. I've been impressed with him before and I reckon he can go on to do well with us, but yesterday I just thought his touch was awful, he lost the ball trying to beat his man instead of pass, and he was easily brushed off by the likes of Bullen (mind you the FFC fans are saying Bullen was a disgrace for them so what do I know ). I thought he was poor on Wed at Arbroath too.
  19. Quick thoughts from me: Yes, credit to Brew for the tactics today, and making timely subs. Woody had to go off - I thought the lad had a total mare - and Barrowboy made a difference with his physical presence. Also for subbing Roy and Vigurs who were spent. Jamie Duff looks more and more like a great prospect, the new Granty if we can keep him. Hastings gave the back four a more familiar look and even McGuire was pretty good Blackie excellent as usual, Cowie all over the park and getting back to his old form. Mikey had little to do. Rooney doesn't look fit. Johndo can do the smileys later. Falkirk were totally lacking in belief though and if we had scored earlier who knows how it might have ended up.

    Zander

Against Liverpool I thought Zander had put on a bit of muscle. I'd like to see him getting a few appearances as sub, starting today at Falkirk.
  21. Maybe it was just something they were trying on match days?
