  1. Yeah - good, eloquent report. Your efforts are much appreciated, IHE.
  2. Hmmm! Clown-like . . . . . . . pisses people off . . . . . . d'you wear a suit IHE? :001:
  3. Was just thinking that too Johnboy - Derek Adams that is. Why break from our tradition of plundering the best County have to offer? Certainly worth considering, in my humble opinion.

Amidst all the doom and gloom, perhaps we should be thankful that, following Gretna's humping at the hands of Celtic today, we are now mathematically safe from relegation. Time for a winning streak, now that the 'pressure' is off!!? :003:
  5. Sadly, and entirely due to the existence of this thread, we ain't going to score that thousandth goal. Not this season anyway. Let's just hope for SPL survival on the strength of whatever goal-less draws we can achieve, together with points already accumulated. Thank goodness for Gretna! :017:
  6. Totally agree Alex - the whole Gretna thing has been a farce from day 1. They've achieved Mileson's dream and now they're facing reality. I would expect their descent to their true position in Div 3 to be a rapid one. They've had their day! :sillywave:

I think you do Broonie an injustice 4ize, seems to me he's quite respectful to his old club. If you want real scandal from that radio clip though, try counting the number of times he says "obviously". If everything was that obvious, why did they need to interview him? I lost count I was laughing so much! :015:

Yer awfully mysterious, Sophia! A bit of a non-story it would seem. Phrases like "it is understood . . . ." and "it is thought . . . . " don't lend much concrete to it all. How do you recruit a "feeder-club" anyway?

Why on earth would you want to change it to English? :015:

  11. Tokely has always struck me as an individual rather than a team player and is still capable of some brilliant performances. But it seems either he's outgrown ICT or we've outgrown him. Perhaps he's one of these "luxury" players, like Juanjo or, dare I say, Niculae who might relish a forward role and bang in a couple of goals when we're already 3 - nil up. As a defender though, I think he's peaked and is no longer reliable. Leaves a big hole and is rather ponderous. That's not to say he couldn't come back though. But yes - he has to earn his place like everybody else. He played in goal once, against Livingston, when Jimmy Calder got sent off and performed quite well. Maybe he should reset his sights and give Ike a bit of competition! :015:
  12. Gretna play in Motherwell. Not very well though, by all accounts. :015: :015:
  13. I moved from Inverness to the Western Highlands many years ago and see myself as a bit of a missionary - trying in vain to convert my banjo-strumming County/OF-supporting neighbours to the cause of ICT, even offering them a lift to Inverness on matchdays. Whereas they would have no problem supporting a team with a Highland identity, they most definitely would not support a team with "Inverness" in it's name. Strummers have issues with that sort of thing. But I would say this is more than offset by the number of Invernessians who swarm to the Longman every other Saturday buoyed by civic pride in their team's city identity! :016: Scarlet P - kind words indeed! I am well, hope you are too. Seems we were on different frequencies all those years ago! :003:
  14. They also sometimes refer to us as "The Highlanders", which I like.

I'm happy. The future looks bright. Who wouldn't be happy? :003:

    :012: Getting tedious now, and I suspect personal . . . .
  17. It's actually a good point, and as a resident of the Skye & Lochalsh district of the Highland Region I would say there is definitely a bit of resentment towards the Big City in the East. There is very little interest here in ICT - Ross County are definitely more popular, even in parts that were formerly Inverness-shire, although the majority of football supporters here tend to follow the OF. If ICT had more of a regional identity, and dropped the name "Inverness" I think more people in the out-lying areas would follow them. On the other hand though, ICT is a city team - do we really want those banjo-strummers?
  18. We do have a habit of shooting ourselves in the foot, tripping over the final hurdle and glorious failure. Here's hoping though! :003:
  19. The secret is that Brewster is a one-team manager and ICT is that one team. The only time I can think of when he wasn't good for us was when his mind was on the DUFC job, just before he left.
  20. Makes a good story though! :015:
  21. Interesting stat., and there's always the chance that Darren Fletcher could play for Man U. It seems that the top players in the English PL are generally foreign and the top teams are largely populated by foreigners which is probably why the English national side is so pish. A country with as big a population as England has should have a much more successful team than they do. Almost as bad a record as Spain! They're just as bad at producing managers too - see how far down the EPL table you have to go before you find a team managed by an Englishman. As the table stood on Sunday morning, I believe Portsmouth in 7th place is the top team with an English manager.
  22. Despite my hatred for both Celtic and Rangers, I realise that it's usually to our advantage if they win in an SPL match, unless of course it's against us. And I always like to see Gretna lose, for some inexplicable reason!
  23. Isn't Gordy Bennett Grassa's brother and sadly no longer with us either?
  24. We don't always agree but I'm with you there. I suspect you got the attention you were seeking! I agree with sophia too.
