  1. Sadly, and entirely due to the existence of this thread, we ain't going to score that thousandth goal. Not this season anyway. Let's just hope for SPL survival on the strength of whatever goal-less draws we can achieve, together with points already accumulated. Thank goodness for Gretna! :017:
  2. "Was like" used to mean "Was similar to". Now it means "Said".
  3. No need - he's got a whole county named after him! :015:
  4. Boots had one of the better selections of records in the early 70's - the shop was at the Inglis St. / High St junction where prozzies gathered. Allegedly. Seem to remember John Menzies had a decent selection too. (Of records, that is)
  5. Totally agree Alex - the whole Gretna thing has been a farce from day 1. They've achieved Mileson's dream and now they're facing reality. I would expect their descent to their true position in Div 3 to be a rapid one. They've had their day! :sillywave:
  6. Were you at that game too Charles? Don't remember seeing you! :015: And was Harry Smith a plumber or a sparky? Was he indeed No.7?
  7. Yes - I remember my first game. Details are a bit vague though. 1964 or 1965 probably - Caley vs. Deveronvale I think, and I suspect the score was 2-0. Caley keeper - somebody Smith as I recall, made a fantastic full-length save. Remember being particularly impressed by the work rate of Caley's No.7, Harry Smith I believe. Even more impressed when he came round the house a few weeks later to do some plumbing. Or was it electrics? **** I was only 7. Or 8.
  8. I think you do Broonie an injustice 4ize, seems to me he's quite respectful to his old club. If you want real scandal from that radio clip though, try counting the number of times he says "obviously". If everything was that obvious, why did they need to interview him? I lost count I was laughing so much! :015:
  9. Yer awfully mysterious, Sophia! A bit of a non-story it would seem. Phrases like "it is understood . . . ." and "it is thought . . . . " don't lend much concrete to it all. How do you recruit a "feeder-club" anyway?
  10. Why on earth would you want to change it to English? :015:
  11. Tokely has always struck me as an individual rather than a team player and is still capable of some brilliant performances. But it seems either he's outgrown ICT or we've outgrown him. Perhaps he's one of these "luxury" players, like Juanjo or, dare I say, Niculae who might relish a forward role and bang in a couple of goals when we're already 3 - nil up. As a defender though, I think he's peaked and is no longer reliable. Leaves a big hole and is rather ponderous. That's not to say he couldn't come back though. But yes - he has to earn his place like everybody else. He played in goal once, against Livingston, when Jimmy Calder got sent off and performed quite well. Maybe he should reset his sights and give Ike a bit of competition! :015:
  12. An implement for carrying things. With an extra "t".
  13. Gretna play in Motherwell. Not very well though, by all accounts. :015: :015:
  14. I moved from Inverness to the Western Highlands many years ago and see myself as a bit of a missionary - trying in vain to convert my banjo-strumming County/OF-supporting neighbours to the cause of ICT, even offering them a lift to Inverness on matchdays. Whereas they would have no problem supporting a team with a Highland identity, they most definitely would not support a team with "Inverness" in it's name. Strummers have issues with that sort of thing. But I would say this is more than offset by the number of Invernessians who swarm to the Longman every other Saturday buoyed by civic pride in their team's city identity! :016: Scarlet P - kind words indeed! I am well, hope you are too. Seems we were on different frequencies all those years ago! :003:
  15. They also sometimes refer to us as "The Highlanders", which I like.

    Happy Yet?

I'm happy. The future looks bright. Who wouldn't be happy? :003:
  17. :012: Getting tedious now, and I suspect personal . . . .
  18. It's actually a good point, and as a resident of the Skye & Lochalsh district of the Highland Region I would say there is definitely a bit of resentment towards the Big City in the East. There is very little interest here in ICT - Ross County are definitely more popular, even in parts that were formerly Inverness-shire, although the majority of football supporters here tend to follow the OF. If ICT had more of a regional identity, and dropped the name "Inverness" I think more people in the out-lying areas would follow them. On the other hand though, ICT is a city team - do we really want those banjo-strummers?
  19. We do have a habit of shooting ourselves in the foot, tripping over the final hurdle and glorious failure. Here's hoping though! :003:
  20. I can understand they're not everybody's cup of tea, but scratching the surface reveals a wealth of talent. Their style is distinctly Scottish but with a modern slant to it. Not "Shortbread Tin" by any stretch of the imagination, and certainly not to be categorised with the likes of Harry Lauder, Andy Stewart and others who prostituted their Scottishness. I wore flares and platforms in the mid-70s. (to keep it on topic)
  21. THE PROCLAIMERS!!??!! Goodness me Mr. Bannerman - have you no class?!? :015:
  22. Ah yes - tattoos. Chaps used to come home from National Service and impress the **** outa the burds with them. Seafarers used to be heavily tattooed; at least the ones who had been anywhere. Nowadays though, tattoos conjure up images of foul-mouthed trollops on Jeremy Kyle or the like. Don't do it - ferks sake! :001:
  23. Am I missing something here . . . . ?
  24. The secret is that Brewster is a one-team manager and ICT is that one team. The only time I can think of when he wasn't good for us was when his mind was on the DUFC job, just before he left.
