    Molineux?
  2. The problem is the budget the SFA would be willing to allocate. Any decent manager could secure better conditions in club football. What Scotland needs is an affordable young(ish) manager with unlimited belief in his own abilities, but untried at this level. Step forward, Craig Brewster! :010:
  3. Craig Brewster - 3rd time lucky!
  4. Most football teams represent the town, city or area in which they're based. Rangers are different in that they've set out their stall as a team who represent Protestants who detest Catholics. This means they can have a fan-base covering the entire UK, and beyond. Celtic are similar. So it's quite feasible that there are Cockneys who hate Catholics and are consequently drawn to Rangers.
  5. I was part of Section B on Saturday and at one point we made a hooruva noise. And there was absolutely no booing in Section B. Can any of these so-called "fans" in Section G beat that? B)
  6. Hastings was one of our best and most consistent players and I would certainly welcome him back. A lot of our fans never forgave him for his brief spell with Ross County. Didn't he initially join Hamilton on loan?
  7. Our mighty neighbours have already peaked this season! Having humped the mighty Ayr and the mighty Morton, perhaps a little pessimism is the only thing that'll help us to avoid disappointment on Saturday. I'm cautiously optimistic though!
  8. Just back from the game - well, lets face it, we don't usually have much to celebrate after a home game! Have to agree with all that's been written before, Foran being the standout, and maybe Golly too. There was nothing between the teams up till the first goal and then we suddenly came to life. Could we maybe come to life a bit earlier next time? I wonder how it would have ended if Morton had scored first though, which at one stage was quite likely. Not being negative - just adding a bit of balance to the euphoria, which is maybe a bit premature. Great result though and I'm cautiously optimistic.

This thread seems to be populated largely by angry and abusive young men, so I have this advice to offer. It's the hormones, lads, and you'll eventually grow out of it, and become pleasant young adults. In the meantime, try to find yourself a nice girl to go out with. That might calm you down! What you really need is sex, but one thing at a time . . . :025:

Fan is an abbreviation of 'fanatic' so I would expect fans to be a bit more extreme in their support than that!

When things are going well there can be a great atmosphere in Section G, or indeed the whole of the North Stand. Conversely, when things are not going so well, those in Section G, generally being the most vocal, are most likely to give vent to their feelings, often in the most foul-mouthed manner imaginable. Don't get me wrong - I'm no prude, and can be pretty fluent myself in certain circumstances, but most people of a more mature persuasion know how far to go. The trouble with this Section G thing is that the atmosphere is often ruined by silly wee boys who don't know when to shut up. I've seen parents with young kids there who are positively intimidated by the potty-mouthed yobs they find themselves sitting beside. I'm sure that with a little thought, these young lads could create an atmosphere without necessarily ruining it for all around them. Sorry - but I'm with the fat-ar$ed lady on this one!
  12. An unmistakable sense of deja vu here. Remember how we used to have a reputation for choosing exceptionally good managers on a budget? Haha - I like that!
  13. There are members who post at the drop of a hat, and their posts appear on just about every thread. There are members who only post on subjects of interest to them. There are members who have a life outside this forum and may go for days, or even weeks without posting, or even visiting the forum. Also, I'm sure Board Members, players and management feel they are perfectly entitled to post on these forums too - some may even feel they have a duty to do so, or at least to read the various posts to get a feel for the mood of the fans. I'm not quite sure who "The Muppets" are but I have an idea. Been away too long maybe!
  14. It's a diddy cup if we get knocked out. Otherwise it's not. B)
  15. Perhaps "hate" is the wrong word, but for the purpose of this thread I'm happy to use the word to describe teams I love to see getting humped. Gretna was one, Livingston another and Rangers and Celtic. Used to "hate" Elgin City in the Highland League days but now I will them to win, now and again. Ross County is a strange one - I used to like them in the old HL days and was quite surprised to discover how much their supporters "hated " us. I suppose, as a result of that, I've gone off them a bit now, but the fact that they hate us and we don't really bother "hating" them is probably a measure of our superiority. Of course now that we're in the same division as them and may even find that they're promotion rivals, I really do want them to get humped every week. But that's different. :D
  16. Am I the only one who likes the idea of Scottish players playing for Scottish teams? And in our case, predominantly Highland players playing for ICT. I think it's a lot easier to be supportive of and loyal to a team which is representative of the area in which it is based.

It's much simpler than that. Scottish football teams fall into just 5 categories: 1. There's the super-rich teams (Rangers and Celtic) who will always play in the SPL. 2. There's the big teams (eg Hearts, Hibs, Dundee Utd., Aberdeen, generally from cities of 100,000+ population) who will normally play in the SPL, however, the occasional crisis may see them relegated to Division 1. 3 And the quite big teams - that's us folks, along with the likes of Falkirk, Dunfermline, St. Johnstone, generally from towns/catchment areas of 50,000 - 100,000, which will frequently flit from SPL to Division 1 and back - the SPL/Div.1 bias being generally dependant on the size of the town/catchment area. 4. The medium teams - pop./catchment area 20,000 - 50,000 - division 1 or 2 (see above) 5. The wee teams - Division 2 and 3 with maybe the very occasional foray into division 1. Sorry folks, but that's the rules - don't wish to appear negative or anything, but no amount of singing or shouting is going to change that! :)

There have been times when I was quite impressed with the clarity of the PA system, although the majority of times it's been dire. I'm no expert in these matters but perhaps some knobs need tweaking! :P
  19. Remind me someone - what division are Annan in? :P
  20. Yeah, that would be some haul!! :clapping03: Good one though! Well done Pugsy.
  21. That reminds me - I was going to go fishing tonight! :clapping03:
  22. No - I still prefer "The Dump"!
  23. Brian Thompson scoring against Annan Athletic in the cup and celebrating by responding to previous "sheep-sh**ging b*****ds" taunts from the away support by simulating the sh**ging of a sh**p! :018: :thumb04:
  24. Wishful thinking Alex, but I like the sentiment!
  25. I neither love nor hate Brewster. All I see is a guy who failed as a manager, and perhaps realising he was unlikely to make a career in management, decided to pull on his shirt one last time and reach the finishing post doing what he does best. Professional football is a relatively short career and he's managed to squeeze more years out of it than most. Best of luck to him, I say, and I hope he manages another season or maybe more as a top first division player before being forced to pack it in and start a new career. I honestly think he did as well as he could for ICT - unfortunately not good enough. Sadly there are those want blood - nothing less will do, and I pity them.
