Anyway, what does RiG stand for?? :024:
  2. I beg to differ! We don't want Partick - we've got a cr@p record against them in the Cup. Celtic will do - we ALWAYS beat them in the Scottish Cup. I'd feel quite confident of our chances against Livi too! :003:
  3. Great goal. Duncan and Dods particularly solid. Rosscoe had a few flashes of brilliance, and that run of course. Wilson was generally impressive, though not at his best. Fascinating duel between Hastings and Samuel, with the former coming out on top. But Fraser - oh dear! Some great saves, but whenever he kicked that ball out my old ticker missed a beat or 2. A bit more height please Mike!!! Second half was dire except for the last few minutes where we actually threatened, sometimes.
  4. Oh sh!t! That means we'll be selling Dargo at the end of the season. And one of the OF will make an offer for Hastings. Are you sure it was "Doonhamers" he said and not "Queens"?

Say what you like - he was still one of the best players on the park today. And yes, he's a ****!
  6. I have absolutely no problem with us raiding County and picking the cream of the crop. Ross County are undoubtedly the 2nd team in the Highland area and the natural step up for ambitious players with potential is to join the top team in the Highland area. Eventually they might move onwards (and probably southwards). Until we are capable of producing all our own players from our own youth set-up, which, lets face it, is very unlikely, that will always be the most natural and likely route for aspiring, north-based players.
  7. "Just shows how far we've come . . . . . " :006:
  8. Yeah, I know. It'll be Barry John Corr!

Remember we were mid-table 1st division at the time. He actually went to Holland and I think it was Austria to broaden his horizons. I think you're making too much of the short spell he spent with County! :018: And of course he came back to us in the end. Thankfully!
  10. Missed out Dunfermline too! :015: :015: :015: Us wee teams should stick together!

Can't believe the flak Hastings gets in these forums. He's undeniably one of our best players and will be a huge loss if he leaves. Will he ever be forgiven for having a bit of ambition a few years ago and attempting to play at a higher level? Probably not, because there's some bitter, pedantic people about. OK, so it didn't work out in the end - thankfully he came back to us, a greatly improved player. How come Barry Wilson seems to be so readily forgiven for defecting to Livingston? And playing for Ross County? The 2 teams we hate most! Apart from Elgin City. And Gretna. Oh yeah, and the OF. . . . .
  12. Will he survive the customary verbal abuse from the North Stand? There's no denying Bullock is a good keeper and, with his experience, could oust young Fraser before he reaches his full potential, resulting in, as someone previously speculated, Fraser's departure. I for one am willing to live with the odd inevitable stutter in Mike's performances while he gains first team experience, and wish to see him retaining his role at least until the end of the season. I just feel that Bullock would offer too much competition and should only be appointed if he accepts he will only be 2nd choice, which is unlikely. Could be wrong but I think Fraser has a lot of potential and will be a huge loss if he leaves.
  13. I gather there's a clause in the contract which states we get £5k for every penalty he saves. Not much doing there then!
  14. I hear Tony Bullock is looking for a move . . . . . ! :003: But seriously though, what about Barry John Corr - QOS keeper, ex-Celtic and greatly under-rated. Not very happy at QOS, apparently, and a useful back-up to Mike Fraser.

Ian Black for captain!!! :015: :015: :015: Brill!
  16. I reckon Michael Fraser would be a bigger loss to the club than Mark Brown at this stage, reason being that Brown has proved himself at this level and has already attracted the attention of wealthier clubs and will probably leave within the next year or so anyway. I like what I've seen of Fraser and reckon he will not be out of his depth playing in the first team - we'd probably get at least 5 years out of him if he were to replace Brown now and prove to be as good or better, before being poached by a wealthier team. What I don't want to see is Fraser leaving because he can't get a game for the first team. That would be worse than Brown leaving now. It is quite feasible, for the reasons given above, that Fraser could leave, closely followed by Brown. And that would not be good!

To my knowledge, it's only libel (or slander) if it isn't true.
  18. I've made no secret of my admiration for Hastings. One of his strengths is his ability to get forward up the left wing while still performing his defensive duties. Great vision too - it's fascinating to watch his movement off the ball. Dunno if he's the MOST technically gifted, but he's certainly up there. When he came back to us he seemed very reluctant to get forward as he had done previously - seemed to lack confidence. Seemed a bit out of his depth too. But he gradually got there. With increasing confidence he established his place in the team and improved beyond anything he'd achieved before to become the great player he is today. I have to say I'm quite surprised by the criticism he gets on these boards - do these people know anything about football?
  19. Yeah - let's try blootering the ball up the park and see if Bayne gets it! :006:
  20. Old fecker!? Only half right there me old mate. Happy New Year!

What about: Here we go here we go here we go, Here we go here we go here we go-o, Here we go here we go here we go, Here we go-o, here we go. . . . It's an inspirational song about advancement, moving ahead. It's forward-looking, optimistic and uniting. Just the job, I reckon!
  23. Quoth Johnboy: "What about bringing in McCaffrey and playing Dods up front with Wyness? " Forkin' brill!!! :003: :003:
  24. Bit of a melodramatic title to the thread - there have been many "most important" games since the St. Johnstone one, and all is not lost if we lose this one. However, it IS a big game, no doubt about it, and winning this one would certainly make the festive season more enjoyable. I've often said this and I'll say it again - thank fork for Dunfermline! They've always been good to us. :003:
