  1. Can't believe Rog broke down during his speech and needed a wee hug from Rafa to continue... and then making Rafa apologise for beating him, thats not on! Today wasn't all about Fed, it was about Rafa and what a true champion he is! Rog doesn't deserve to equal Sampras' record, Vamos Rafa!!!
  2. I'll support any WTA player who can get through a match without grunting. I don't seem to mind the men when they do it though...
  3. Its the first time they've played each other since the Wimbledon Final... that pesky Andy Murray kept getting in the way
  4. Fantastic match wasn't it? I watched it live and now I'm watching it again (thank you Auntie Beeb for your wonderful interactive service :thumb04: Verdasco just stuck with Nadal all the way till that wobbly service game at the end. Horrible way to end on a DF too, bet he's gutted After Federer's bitchy comments about everyone, I hope Rafa thrashes him in the final!
  5. I thought he was very charming when I met him, and good crack. Never had a problem with him. But his pal on the other hand...
  6. Saw him at Jings in Dingwall a lot of years back... Fantastic musician, love his music! RIP
  7. Oh Andy!!!! :018: :thumb04: It's my fault, if I'd been there to scream at the telly then I'm sure he would've won! ;) Still now at least that half of the draw is clear for my other favourite... If he beats Nadal
  8. This match is one of the strangest I've ever seen. Andy's had the flu apparently but he's been blowing hot and cold - it's 6-2 1-6 6-1 and 1-4 in the fourth. I've been up since midnight and seen 2 retirals and loads of weird tennis. Thank god I have to go to work soon! Get some relief from all this stress!!! 2 sets all, he lost that one 3-6. Can't believe I have to miss the end of this match now, this set has been fantastic! Deuce 3-2 C'mon Andy!
  9. Baggy did well in the third set but lost his way again in the fourth. He should never have got his hair cut! I really don't like Djokovic, if he's losing he'll pretend to be injured and take a medical time out to try to disrupt his opponent. I think he'll struggle to defend his title, Roddick shouldn't be too much of a problem for him but then he'll most likely meet Federer in the SF and that will be that (hopefully). If Del Potro manages to beat Fed though he'll more than likely make it to the final. And I feel Andy has a date with destiny with Fed there....
  10. The Order of Play is out, Andy v Verdasco is the 4th match on HiSense Arena - after 3 R4 Womens singles so I'm thinking it could start anywhere between 4.30am and 6.00am (or even later) - the Beeb haven't made up their minds yet when they think it'll be on. Verdasco will be the trickiest opponent yet for Andy but still I don't think he'll be able to take a set off him. Their H2H is 5-0 in Andy's favour and the only leftie to ever beat Andy is Nadal. Looking good!
  11. That's it starting now... will make a nice change to watch a good match as all the other ones I've seen have been pretty dire!
  12. Less coffee and more sex would probably sort that one out for you
  13. Another heathen Still at least you didn't try to pass that off as an opinion :thumb04:
  14. See that wasn't so hard was it? :thumb04: But you're wrong in as much as Murray (and Simon) are part of a trend towards creative defensive tennis which neutralises the power players advantage. I would be very surprised if Roddick for instance ever won a tourney again as his game is purely based on power, and just look at how Andy demolished him in Doha a few weeks ago. Nadal's game is based around power and both Murray and Simon have beaten him the last time they played. Murray's managed to beef up a bit but Simon would disappear if he turned sideways and his 2nd serve would be classed as poor even by WTA standards! And in the course of beating him, these matches have produced some fantastic 30 odd shot rallies where the tactician rather than the bodybuilder has won in the end. Maybe you should watch more tennis!
  15. No, you wanted to build up your part by telling us you had all these wonderful connections to tennis and yet you still found it boring. If you think that's having a discussion I would direct you to the dictionary. While you're there you might look up namedropping too. If you actually have anything to say, then say it rather than getting your knickers in a twist. edit - Birdog deleted his post in case you all think I've lost the plot and I'm talking to myself!
  16. Your only opinion seems to be that tennis bores you. So now you've whined about that, why not go and find something that interests you to discuss? As I'm not seeing much discussion from you here. And remember - only boring people get bored
  17. Pretty strong display, I'm just a wee bit worried that no one has really pushed him yet. Maybe there just isn't anyone to push him to his limits though! I've a sneaky feeling that Gilles Simon, if he gets past Monfils, will take out Nadal but even he's never been able to push Murray and he seems to be the other form player at the moment. Interesting times! And yes, he's deadly on a hard court at the moment, grass is an entirely different affair though. Maybe check his odds for the US Open instead :018: Bet it goes down a treat when you post that you hate them or find them boring :thumb04:
  18. Tennis can be completely enthralling or pretty boring depending on who's playing and what their form's like. But if you find it as boring or cricket or bowls (which are deathly) then wtf are you doing on this thread?
  19. That is interesting as all the tennis fans are complaining that footie fans are invading their sport...
  20. Flipping Serbs and Croats! Thats the second day they've been fighting, here's a report from the first day, when Serbs started jeering Croats at Ancic's match and went looking for trouble at Delic's match afterwards. Must be hard fighting in flipflops! And they still keep voting for each other in Eurovision!!! But you can imagine 40 degree heat, relentless sun, and alcohol might lead to trouble. Remember Denmark? Andy's R3 match is on Hisense Arena tomorrow at 8.30am. Melzer will give him a harder go than any of his other opponents which is great as he needs a few hard matches before ripping Federer to bits in the final. I'm getting up for 3am ish for my other fave and I expect to be quite drunk by the time the footie kicks off in the afternoon :thumb04:
  21. The boy's doing good. He can rip Federer a new one in three sets, it's got to the stage it's almost embarrassing to watch now! He's beaten everyone, his fitness is amazing and he's up for it. Cmon Andy you can do it!!! thanks to Clydey on MTF for the pic!
  22. Although I don't think it's a good idea to go backwards, It won't be me starting the Robbo... NOOOOOOO thread :thumb04: Not to go off topic but the list of candidates seems of a much quality this time round, might be easier for the Board to knock back Robbo if they get a "big" name involved.
  23. I also think it's a bad idea to go back (although Robbo is tempting) so I voted Terry Butcher.
  24. One things for sure - wherever Brewster goes in the future there's no way he'll ever be in a position to sign Blackie even if he wanted to
  25. Well, Andy got a WO since his opponent retired. I've been up since midnight watching tennis, how fantastic is that!!! All my boys won :thumb04: Lets hope my Inverness boys start winning too now!
