  1. Doumbaya lacks support which you feel is why he appears to be no longer effective? Perhaps as the front man he might be expected to turn and make a bee line for the goal and or direct the ball goalwards very hard and attempt to score more often? Is that reasonable? Otherwise what's he going to do with it if some other player actually passes it to him as you appear to suggest is presently not happening? Pass it to another player to the side of him?
  2. If you refuse to play him then you don't allow him the chance to fit in and develop. So why the heck did you get him in the first place? You can't judge a book by it's cover and you have to read it through before making judgements. Maybe the boy just needs ENCOURAGEMENT. A great book is... www.destiniesinmotion.com ........ and, yes, you have to read the reviews first on the website and then read this large book through to the end to savour the flavour .And, no, it's not just about animals....
  3. Well, you may be right, Lionel DZ was at least entertainment!! And when his moves came off we reacted with delight. He was different, not sterile and not boring and he at least tried his best.
  4. Parthenon, right?
  5. S'all Greek tae me.
  6. Several posts have highlighted the role of the referees in past games and commented that we have not been given the benefit of the doubt in many instances. Is this a valid criticism and what about the added comments (one from Richie himself) that we are not getting the whistles because we are a "diddy" team at the bottom the league implying that refs think we are not worth helping-or something! ? If there are handballs in the penalty boxes which are never called by the ref is there not a way to complain to the League for video evidence to be provided. e.g. In ice hockey in North America one complaint made by a team manager against a referee's decision (usually immediately after a goal is scored) will be immediately reviewed on the video reels of the match AND, if necessary to get rid of further disputing, a call is made to Toronto for the beaks of the league to review the game video in real time to decide the issue. Usually this is a fairly quick process and finishes the matter fairly and quickly. Maybe what I am asking is why is there not a similar goal line video camera and similar technology employed in this way to immediately settle the possibility that refs may genuinely miss stuff and then make unfair calls and decisions.? MONEY?
  7. IHE My ma and dad had friends in Dingwall where they had an upper flat overlooking the main street so we visited their home on the odd occasion. But that was in my early teens and on these seldom occasions their teenage son, Derek, and I went downstairs and out into the back garden and amused ourselves in ways which never led to the National Hotel. Apart from that I don't recall even being remotely interested in the town and usually left it continually thinking that it had only one street. So I'm more than mildly surprised to see that the town must have had have some very nice and substantial buildings in the past. But now I do wonder whether my interest would have increased had I ever entered the National which looks grand and no doubt a unique place, even if my education would have progressed after each visit !.......
  8. That was the exact spot where I used to stand, IHE, when I went to see the Caley team at Telford street in the "fifties" . Unfortunately I'm unable to identify anyone I knew then.Pity. But it sure takes me back in time! I was only 14 in 1952 so to be quite honest I didn't attend matches very regularly.
  9. Personally speaking I am more interested to learn which town this photo shows? IBM, I have just received a fantastic calendar from my insurance broker depicting old North American cars of yesteryear, Super photographs,. Would you like me to send you one ? If so please contact me by p.m.
  10. Right on Chas . I get it re Jupie. But you will really have to stop splitting hairs....unless you give them to me for my bald spot. One of the problems we Canajins have is the distance between Inverness and Vancouver...i.e when I read something it takes a long time for the post to appear on the site so things seem not to relate when it finally shows up me hearty. And it has gotten worse since Clancy of the Mounted's horse dropped dead from exhaustion. Now we rely on the stagecoach and 4 for onward transmission of messages, especially when the telegraph has been replaced by the telephone. Either that or I am getting old.

  12. ER.....? I was paying attention to the Development League IHE and please, be nice to me,...just don't say it's the same thing ..
  13. S.P 2 Donview? -- Still in creation.....maybe. Don't worry; if it ever happens he's bound to be a chip off the Old Block for sure. Talking about absentee posters where have you been these past many months? Do you ever attend the Aberdeeen matches these days I wonder?
  14. And the Donald is there too on the lower left of the picture. The Guy just gets on every front page doesn't he?
  15. Naughty!
  16. Very interesting, Kingsmills. You would think that doing this, not charging parking fees at hospitals in Scotland, was common sense but whoa!- how wrong can you be in Canada? Our Provincial Government charges us about $136 Can. per month per family depending on how many people are in the group for Medicare . That's about eighty two pounds using the average of the buying and selling rates of exchange. Then they get a return of some of the money from the Federal Government. At this time they are screaming because they want the Feds to cough up a lot more than the annual small increase of about 3 times the Federal inflation rate which the Feds do refund and which, personally I think is reasonable. Alternatively , in view of the varying financial needs of each Province I think that the Canadian Federal Government (like the National Health Service) should pay 100%of all the outlays for the Medicare expenses. In short, the Provincial Governments really want the Feds to finance the bulk of the outlays which, in British Columbia for annual Health care, runs to several Billion dollars. My Retinal surgeon started off billing the Province $500,000 per annum about 4-5 years ago but her last billing, for 2014, was $2,500,000. And she has only one other competitor in B.C. who beats her figures and is the top biller. So, naturally, any car parking fees that they can hive off from the car parking administrators is grist to the mill for them and that's why they won't change the system any time soon. So the solution is...just don't pay up....of find a nice church parson nearby.
  17. Upon receipt of the letter just cross out your address on the front of the envelope and write the following above this.."Post Office, please return to sender, no longer at this address ." and then repost it. I am stunned since I thought that this parking malarkey only happened in Canada where any store like Sears, Zellers, Walmart etc. would never dream of losing your business by allowing parking issues to affect you like this. The stores are almost certainly getting a cut from the firms "running the parking". However, my challenges are with hospitals where finding a parking spot alone is a real issue and the related fees can be very stiff. But your fees (60 pounds, etc., are completely ludicrous even if that's a fine for not paying up or something). When you go to a hospital, especially to see a close relative who may be very sick, the last thing you want to worry about is parking fees or even finding a spot. And I have been advised by hospital staff that the hospital gets a cut off the fees charged....nice one, Cyril ! So I have found a local church down the street where there is free parking so long as you don't overstay. The church I use encourages this and actually allocates spots set aside for cars for those of us hospital bound. . Remember, "Once you pay the gelt to the Dane you will never be rid of the Dane." so never pay up.
  18. Spy upon ... (as in Pimpernel Organisation)
  19. And Yngwie calls for commentary from JM Barry Wilson but needs reminding about including J Barrington Dalby as the Interval Summary reporter.

  21. You are right enuff , man, it was close to the Bridge. Interesting because I never knew Diggar's existed. My father used to patronise Scotty(near the bridge)for years and that's why I went there ....plus, head inspections after I went home were fine for my mother and so peace and security still reigned in the house. As well it was quite close to Dunain Road and I could walk it.
  22. He must have succeeded " Mr. ScottScotty the Barber" who was in a location very close to Diggars . Perhaps Digger took over Scotty's place after he retired or something? Scotty was a real card as well. Usually when he asked you what you wanted and you replied "just a haircut Mr. Scott." or something, he would reply .."Sorry, I'm not cutting hair any longer. " Which filled you with consternation at the thought of having to report to your ma that you didn't get a haircut. But then he would laugh , get his white sheet out and all was ship-shape and Bristol fashion again. And the jokes continued throughout the session. What a guy!.
