  1. I don't think Chalmers is as big a miss as some make out. He did score some cracking goals but sometimes he did often go missing in games. That said, his finishes were the result of not being afraid to have a crack at goal and I felt we were pretty hesitant at times to pull the trigger on Saturday and he would still be a better option than Boyd or Shaw from the little I have seen from them. Saturday was just very deflating. After being sworded so convincingly by Partick I was expecting a reaction from the players and the manager and there was just nothing whatsoever on show. We were so timid (a word I think Dodds used post match) and meekly pawed at the Morton defence without breaking through. It was an utterly unenthralling 90 minutes.

    New ICT Podcast

Packed pod out now featuring the usual game reviews and lookaheads, interviews with Danny MacKay and Tom Walsh, Jennifer Aitchison of the ICT Supporters Trust speaks to @alternative maryhill about the functions of the Trust and how you can get involved to help them out with their aims and the winner of the signed Robbie Deas shirt is announced. Just in time for the game tomorrow...
  3. Very surprised at this comment. Boyd offered nothing from my POV apart from continuously trying to cut back onto his right foot when he got close to the box and dribble into an opposition player, Shaw was okay and apart from the goal I thought Oakley did nothing apart from give the ball away. I think that with every single change we made we got even worse. It was an utterly lamentable performance. Literally nothing positive to take away from the game.
  4. I doubt we even picked up the phone TBH. We're well covered in terms of numbers in that area of the pitch so there was no need to get in touch with him. A lot different from Mackay when Raith were moving to get him and we needed reinforcements out wide.
  5. We can't just sign every player that becomes available. Of course I'd love to have gotten Scott Allan in but we've got Boyd. MacGregor and Doran in the squad all of whom can play as a 10. Allan is arguably better than any of them but we cannot jettison these guys to make room for him*. If we didn't have Boyd then maybe we could have made a move but hindsight is a wonderful thing. * I know in the past we've gotten rid of someone like Doumbouya to free up space for Mckay returning but that's the exception rather than the rule.
  6. The BBC couldn't a stuff about the Scottish leagues outside of the Premiership so we shouldn't be surprised. I thought we probably should have won the game on Saturday but our poor finishing was our downfall. Continue like that and we won't be doing much this season. I feel Dodds making the subs when he did stalled our momentum. We seemed to be in the ascendancy but after Samuels and Boyd went off Queens Park got back into the game. I could see why Samuels was taken off. He wasn't really influencing the game much but I thought Boyd was going okay. Defensively we looked a bit suspect. A couple of times we allowed Queens Park players to run a good 30 or 40 yards unchallenged before they got a shot away. We paid for it once in the first half and almost did so again in the second. Mckay, MacKay and MacGregor all performed well in flashes. Roddy had some lovely touches in the middle of the pitch but I felt he was sitting a little too deep for my liking. Would have been nice to see him pressed further forward. Harper continues to show good form at left back and is looking a lot better defensively so far this season which is great to see. Queens looked a useful side once they got their goal and settled down but after the opening 15 minutes or so I thought we were going to run away with it. Didn't quite work out like that and Ridgers had to make some important saves in the first half to keep us in it. Big improvements are needed for sure.
  7. We should be aiming to try and get Taylor Swift to perform at TCS.
  8. Totally stunned to see Premier Sports picking up both ties involving Rangers and Celtic to show on TV.
  9. Tie confirmed as taking place on Wednesday 31 August. KO at 1945.
  10. Yeah I expect Dundee to be this season Killie in terms of TV appeal. I'd imagine a good chunk of their away games will be on Friday nights.
  11. Could you fly to Edinburgh? If so then you could: 1) Get a tram to Edinburgh Gateway station and then get a train from there to Dundee; 2) Get a bus or tram to Haymarket and get a train from there to Dundee: or 3) Get a bus or tram to Edinburgh city centre and get a train or bus to Dundee.
  12. Highlights are online apparently filmed by a ball boy lying on the ground...
  13. Solid performance overall. Livi started both the first and second halves strongly and Nouble had Harper on toast on numerous occasions. Moyo on the other flank also looked lively but Carson was more alert to him and even when he was beaten the final ball was often dreadful. Holt had an outrageous long range effort from about 40 yards that looked like it was going to sail in over the head of Rdigers but somehow he scrambled back and tipped the ball onto the bar before gathering it up. Deas (I think) had a good header off the bar from a Harper free kick before we took the lead. Carson snuffed out a Livi attack on the bye line and after a couple of quick passes, Scott Allardice sent a glorious pass out to the left flank to the feet of MacKay who got the ball under control before breezing past the Livi full back and he sent a low cross to the back post for Samuels to tuck away from a few yards out. Only other major talking point of the first half was a pretty reckless challenge from Fitzwater on Allardice. It looked really bad at the time and probably should have seen the Livi defender sent off. Again, Livi dominated the start of the half before we got settled down again. The drama kicked off when a long clearance downfield by Ridgers got Samuels in behind the Livi defence and Stryjek came rushing out and leathered him in the face Street Fighter style. Out came the red card and Livi were down to 10. From the free kick harper drew a good save from the replacement keeper before a piece of MacKay magic saw us extend the lead. A raking pass sent Mackay away and he ghosted past Devlin using some kind of elastico type skill that had us on our feet. He drove into the box and stabbed an effort towards goal which looked like it may have gone in possibly with a touch off a Livi defender. It was a stunning piece of skill that I hope we get to see back again. After this we were pretty comfortable and Dodds started top change things a lot to give more players minutes but this led to us becoming a little disjointed as players were frequently moved around the pitch into different positions. Livi started to come back into things and got a deserved goal back when Holt rolled his man at the edge of the box and dispatched a low drive past Ridgers. Then Oakley gave away a penalty with needless pull of a shirt but Holt sent the resultant spot kick well over the bar and we saw the rest of the game out. A deserved win but we almost gave it away at the end. Delaney, Deas and MacKay were all very good and look ready to go already. Others still need a bit more game time to get fully up to speed.
  14. Danny MacKay is set to come back as well it seems. Loan deal being finalised.

  17. In shock news Danny Devine has been released by Caley Thistle and is apparently on trial at Dundee. May be a different Danny Devine of course...
  18. That statement is utterly nauseating.
  19. What!? The poll is literally in my previous post...
  20. A super scientific poll by The Wyness Shuffle revels that the new shirt is liked by 95% of the support! Disclaimer clearly not all of the ICT support.
