Ah right. I hadn't seen that one. Seems a bit not to just mention that in the initial statement but whatever. I'd be surprised if he ended up back at Hibs. I'd be quite tempted to go to ER should he be appointed there to see if he continues to go with his dull as dishwater passing the opposition to death style of play. EDIT: He's favourite for the Hibs job

One thing we never had confirmed is whether or not Hughes is still employed with the club. The statement the other week was basically a non statement that didn't clarify anything other than Hughes wasn't going to be manager any more. No mention of him being sacked. Is he on 'gardening leave' like McCoist was with Rangers? Would he therefore be precluded from joining Hibs or anyone else?
  3. Apparently Lawless, Bannigan and Slater (ex of Killie) are heading to Pittodrie. Would liked to have seen Lawless at ICT but if Aberdeen really are interested we would struggle to match the wages on offer but he'd probably have more of a chance of playing most weeks with us.
  4. Bit of a difference between giving someone a chance after 2 minutes and well over 2 years.
  5. Anyway, being absolutely honest yes I am a bit reserved about appointing Foran. It's hard not to look past his lack of experience. That said, other managers have come into ICT with little experience and done just fine. Completely agree with what alternative maryhill says about retaining current players, having a good team ethos / spine which will help Foran no end whilst he gets to grips with his new role. We've got a solid back line and some good quality in midfield (lets hope we hold on to Tansey) but we definitely need reinforcements up front. With Doran back that will be like a new signing but hopefully we can get Roberts signed up again and play them with Polworth behind a striker (is Mckay too much to hope for?) That would be a pretty damn good starting XI although it might not end up like that! I think expectations for next season will need to be tempered significantly but hopefully we at least see a return to some more attacking football. As pointed out it's ridiculous that we finished where we did despite having as little as 2 shots on target in games. We were awfully dull to watch for a vast majority of the campaign. A return to the style of play we saw in the 4 - 1 rout of Partick would be good. Hopefully Foran takes us there. Personally, I am already looking forward to him giving a Rock Bottom to Willie Collum if he gives a penalty against us.
  6. Looking forward to the fixtures for this coming out. I don't think the setup is great but may as well have a bash at it and see how it goes. What are the chances of any of our games being on BT Sport then? I suspect they'll select pretty much all the Rangers ties if they can.
  7. That's his record as a manager without Butcher. It would be interesting to see how he gets on assisting Foran. I think there will be a steep learning curve for management next season so any expectations fans have would need to be suitably tempered.

    DEAN BRILL

I would have liked OFW and Brill to stay and have Esson remain as a coach but I don't think that would have appealed to any of them! OFW and Brill would both want first team games and Esson would potentially fancy his chances to have a run in goals if the opportunity arose. A tough decision to release either OFW or Brill who I think are very closely matched in terms of their ability. I'd be happy with whichever one stayed and sad with whichever one left.
  9. Really hope Roberts has been offered a new deal. He's shown some really good attacking play when he's been in the side, scored some good goals and hasn't been afraid to get stuck in and put in a few tackles to win the ball back (see the Partick game for example). A rare bright spark in terms of the signings Hughes made.

When was he denied funds? When the squad was stretched they gave him more money but they can't give him extra money when they, erm, don't have any to give. Unless you want the club living beyond its means and running the risk of going into administration. Not that I think the board have been perfect here either but your 'denying him funds' point is ill founded.

Interestingly it seemed that it was the Raven stuff that seemed to turn a lot of fans against him. Despite a lot of folk mentioning tactics, performances and signings as reasons why they wanted him to leave it wasn't until Raven was told he was getting released that the majority seemed to want him to leave.

The comments on the club Facebook page suggest a lot of people there are disappointed with this decision.

Doesn't explicitly state he has left although I assume that is what it is getting at. I wonder why it's stopped short of saying exactly that.

Smashing post there from Kingsmills. Also, Calderwood is a terrible shout although I suspect the suggestion was in jest. We're looking like we're getting rid of someone who is trying to bully the club. We don't need another bully coming in.

One negative thing about Hughes leaving is that our guaranteed 3 points in Dingwall will be under threat.

Agree however the fatal mistake that Hughes made was going public. I'm almost certain that Butcher and Cameron and other managers before will have had arguments but they were kept in house. For some reason Hughes chose to berate the club in public and I can't imagine that will have gone down well.
  21. They were?
  22. I would be stunned if any Wigan player in League 1 is earning £30,000! Anyway, I see De Vita was released by Ross County the other day. He's probably within our budget (free) but he barely played last season although he did have a good start to his County career when he first signed. Worth a punt?
  23. The novelty of those games have long since worn off. We used to get something like 4,500 for games v Killie. Unfortunately those games are a bit stale now for both supporters of the home and away side.
  24. There's absolutely nothing in the release from ICT to suggest that this was a stumbling block. If we weren't able to agree any kind of fee we wouldn't have been able to talk to him (which we allegedly were based on what they club are saying).
